Well I got 525 last night, will post video later. Probably won't make a difference. Kinda disappointed I didn't get 550+ by now, but couldn't eat enough or lift for like 10 days due to finals and papers, so I lost some strength. Oh and first time squatting with a belt and it didn't help at all . I think it actually messed me up (and nearly caused me to poop my pants).
    PRs:
    Squat: 630 (sleeves)
    Deadlift: 735 (straps)
    Strict OHP: 330
    Log Clean & Press: 360
Gave stickyashell hope and now he's back in strength sports crew

Haven't squatted for less than 5 reps in like a year lol so pretty sloppy. Also bad angle. Here's a shot of the bottom.

That looks slightly high. but since I suck at determining depth I am gonna get Isaku's or Iceman's opinion on it tomorrow when I am sober

It doesnt really add anything the first few times. As tall as you are trying wearing your belt high and see how you like it. I just recently started putting my belt a lot higher during squats and it actually helped to make the lift more stable

167 wilks, i got nuthin on it. Knew it was only a matter of time.

I was like, re-watchin and re-watchin and it's totally legit.

This is the part where we all start accusing others of not being natty to make ourselves feel better. My self esteem demands it to grapple with the crushing weight of defeat. It's like, if I tell myself everyone better than me isn't natty, I can continually lower my standards of achievement. It's obviously not better training, programming, rest/diet, internal drive or mental fortitude. Newp. That would imply I'm not perfect.

This is what we get for letting Japan friggin go genocide on China. Only the strongest survived. It's like the opposite of France sending all its best men to die in WW1/2 leaving a withered country of sissies.

Lol still gonna post a vid here... will get something tonight. I tried 570 the other night and failed miserably. Frustrating cause 555 felt easy a few weeks ago, but diet/training inconsistencies got the best of me. Oddly enough upper body pressing strength is still moving up for a change lol. Possibly just gonna film a work set of 530 for 2 or something depending how I feel.

And yet despite being Chinese, I can't weightlift for chit so I'm jealous that you can do both. I'm curious to see what I could do if I got a good coach and worked on it for awhile, but I'm kind of uncoordinated and unathletic in general, which is why I powerlift in the first place ayyyyyyyyyyyy lmao

    Newp. Cripple here.

You can definitely weightlift. It's just about flexibility. Many chinese lifters are using the squat jerk which requires more balance, flexibility, and coordination, but they're doing this because it's all quads and they know they can squat more than most. Generally speaking, until you've been weight lifting consistently, you're not going to be cleaning what you can front squat until 1 year in, and if you squat jerk, you won't be squat jerking your power clean until 1+ years in. Your snatch will always be about 80% of your jerk, with a few notable exceptions. What I imagine your issue is is that you are comparing your cleans to your squats, and it's just no good to be like that. Give it a few months of genuine effort and you'll be amazed. There's absolutely no reason you couldn't be on a pro team inside a year based purely off raw power. I'm not saying that lightly. If you weighed in at 60kg and were able to snatch 85kg and clean and jerk 100kg then you'd get spotted for a team instantly, if not straight up chloroformed and kidnapped.

I don't do anything special honestly...although I do heavily target my accessory work at my known weaknesses. Before, I had trouble with glute activation so it was lots of hip thrusts and SLDLs and now my weakest point is my core and staying upright so I've been doing a lot of beltless paused front squats (gross).

If I have any advice to give, it would be to not be afraid to experiment with your form and reset the weight even if it means moving babby weight for awhile. There have been two times when I had to completely change my form (once it was for injury) and gradually work back up from ~135 lb. Squats used to be my worst lift because I kept listening to people who were giving me advice for someone with completely different leverages and strengths...once I started ignoring that and figuring it out through experimentation and watching girls with similar builds, I started to actually enjoy squatting and knowing how to push myself.

Sorry if that's kind of vague...

That's really sweet and optimistic of you to say! Unfortunately I probably will not explore my weightlifting potential anytime soon seeing as how I'm starting a consulting job which may be up to 100% travel. It's going to be hard enough as is to keep up with powerlifting with that lifestyle.....I feel like it would be near impossible to do that with weightlifting because it requires even more specialized equipment and (in the beginning at least) a really knowledgeable coach. If I'm going to dabble in anything else (which I probably will bc let's be real....PL is kinda boring to do forever), it'll prob end up being figure (lol).

Also don't get too discouraged about being temporarily crippled. I had to stop pretty much all lower body work except stuff like SLDLs for almost four months because I was having excruciating hip pain thanks to a bone structure abnormality....Physical therapist wasn't sure I could ever powerlift again without seriously messing something up. But I laid off the heavy weight and just focused on my physical therapy and ended up getting cleared to squat again. My strength actually came back much faster than expected, even though it involved a lot of soreness and struggling.

Seems like most semi-serious lifters experience some sort of injury that puts them out of commission for awhile. The ones that listen to their body and recover intelligently are the ones who end up coming back even stronger.

Impressive lifting in here!! Good job everyone!

I would hardly call mine impressive, but here goes

    140@112

    Weigh in

    Squat

Hopefully you can see the 2.5lb plate...camera cut off before I could spin it around. I did another one that shows the weights better if this one doesn't count (not as happy with form though).
    My journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=159386641

    2018 goals:
Lift more than I did in 2017, which won't be hard because I haven't lifted much since March 2017
Build back the muscle I lost while I went through a "I hate lifting" phase
    Love lifting again
