i lived in ca for many years and eventually escaped. youre right that the immediate seattle area is similar to ca because of all the idiotic liberals, the greater seattle tacoma area is better than ca because you can still buy a nice house for a decent price, and the value is rising higher than other areas, so its a good investment.

Yep one day I was walking to the MTR station with a friend from Singapore. We'd sometimes speak in Mandarin, though mostly in English. When we spoke Mandarin on the way and there was a middle aged lady that scolded us, "damn mainlanders" or something along those lines. My friend is kinda sassy and hot-headed so she immediately confronted her and said, "excuse me we are from Singapore, don't you talk to us like that." Then, she immediately said sorry. It was funny. The hate for mainlanders is real. It is really weird, do they really want white people to take over their country again? Lol.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Been busy with work. Got put on a project at the last minute. Had to gather info on mounted shares across different platforms and fix fstabs.

I'm an old fart. hahaha... I graduated a long time ago and just working now. I came from HK but raised in the US. I speak Cantonese with my family and friends. I only know some Mandarin but my sisters can speak it really well.

Only problem is if you work in Seattle you'd have to commute an hour everyday. If you don't mind that living there can be nice, a lot of people drive to the transit centers and take the bus to downtown Seattle for work to avoid the traffic.

yea, i grew up in the bay area. price of housing is completely out of control. when i left ca in 2016 you could buy a shack in hayward/oakland for 2 mil. dont even want to know how much the price has increased since then.

commuting in this area is terrible man, the freeways just werent meant to sustain all the people.

Happy Monday! Crazy work week for me last week. Manager went on vacation so I had to be the backup manager for him. In additional to going to his meetings and answering emails I also had to do my own work. Thank goodness he is back to work today.

Cool I actually went to HK very often. My Uncle and Cousins live in HK. I ****ing love the Skyline, oh god so beautiful. I just love the pace of the city and being surrounded by tall buildings.

The people are a tad rude tho, especially if you try to Speak Mandarin. I guess they often associate Mandarin with Mainland Chinese which they hate lol. And since I couldn't speak Cantonese, I just spoke English when I was there, and they loved my accent. But then it is also weird because people there understand Mandarin better than English lol.

Strong bay area folks in here. Used to live in bay for about a year as well. Don't like to live there at all. It is a cool place visit and do tourist thing, but living there nah. Only good thing about the bay is Chinese foods. The old Chinese town used to be the spot, but now that turned into more of a tourist destination and the foods is not as good and not as cheap any more.

The ocean is always freaking cold. Used to live 4 blocks away from it and can walk to the beach daily. Another good thing I like about the bay is the public transportation. Definitely way better then SoCal.

You pretty can live and eat for free. You may spend more time working but you can always take breaks. They have a fully loaded gym there too. LOL Another thing that I don't like is they don't know what a line is. Everyone is trying to rush to get on the bus, buying foods and etc.... Funny story, one time I was getting on a bus, some little girl like 8 years old shoved me hard so she can squeeze in front of me to get on the bus. LOL I was like WTF just happened. LOL Lucky she is a little kid; otherwise, I might get arrested that day because I was pissed. And people behind me were shoving and pushing so I freaking firm up my stand to block them up. LOL But overall, I like it there better. Usually it will take a day or two to get used to it after your mind know there you're not in the states any more. LOL

Yes I watched on YT on the Hong Kong protests. It is crazy with over 1 million people in the protest but I am glad that they are standing up for what they believe in. Definitely have to wait till this settles down before going back. Who knows? We might not even get a chance to go back depending on what happens to HK after this. Yeah people in China are very different than us when it comes to manners and etiquette but it is their culture. They probably think we have issues. My friend and I almost got in a fight in Shanghai because some people were pushing and shoving us just walking on the sidewalks. My friend lives in Shanghai too. Another time her neighbor called the cops on us because the neighbor thought we were in a triad or something. Me, my 3 girlfriends and their mom were staying at my shanghai friend's apartment and all we did was just talk all night. LOL. crazy people.

Yes I watched on YT on the Hong Kong protests. It is crazy with over 1 million people in the protest but I am glad that they are standing up for what they believe in. Definitely have to wait till this settles down before going back. Who knows? We might not even get a chance to go back depending on what happens to HK after this. Japanese are the nicest people that I have seen. Everyone is respectful and well manner. Completely opposite of the people here at home. People here are rude, entited and etc. I would visit Japan again. New Zealand is beautiful and I also wanted to go too along with Switzerland, Netherland, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Spain and Germany. Don't really care much for France and Italy.

You flighting? LOL I can't imagine that. How long ago was this? I don't think people there push and shove on purpose. It is so jam packed on the street that you do get bump by accident, but is no big deal. Each time I go there, it takes me a day or two to get used to. I, myself have bumped into people and move on and no one care. Its definitely a culture shock if you're not local. Why would they think you guys are tri-ad? LOL Now a day the tri-ad is all about business and white collar crime, they don't roam the streets like the street gangs. Probably thought you guys were some local gangs from a different provinces. LOL

I know the news are always dramatic when it comes to these issues but the history of China has never been that good. We know deep down what is going to happen to HK as time goes by. A lot of actors and actresses left after 1997. Has Carrie Lam resigned yet?

My brother and his family visited Japan a couple months ago.

I like New Zealand because of the greenery nature and I want to visit the Hobbit's home. hahaha..I want to run on the fields where Aragon and Legalus fought the Orcs. You get what I'm saying?

I have been to Switzerland, France, Spain and UK twice. Definitely would love to visit Northern Europe (Holland, Finland, Iceland, Scotland)

We actually saw real tri-ad gangs at this little mom and pop shop while eating wonton mein for lunch. Couple of guys calling this old guy "Dai Guo". We went to Beijing, Canton, Shanghai and HK. Was there for one month in July. Hot as crazy.

How was Switzerland? Is it pricey? Switzerland is on my bucket list soon for sure. I like Singapore, Malay and Thailand too. I would pretty much go to most Asian countries except maybe Cambodia and Laos. No hate, but I don't find those two countries to be that safe.
