Feeling much better today. Was sick yesterday and had to leave work early. Training is good. I tried to do the whole low bar squat thing again after back surgery two years ago but feeling the pain again. Switching to high bar and front squats from now on.
What about you? How is your training? I don't see you post anywhere else anymore. When you say the regulars moved on, do you mean that they got something else better to do and left this site completely or they just don't post anymore to this thread?
Edit: Hope this thread comes back alive again. We need more Asian appreciation thread.

Back surgery? What kind of back surgery?
My training has been iffy. Dealing with lower back issue so I don't even squat any more. All I do is legs extension, legs press and legs curls. Gaining some fat back too.
I hardly come on to this site anymore. This site has been dying day by day. All the regulars have moved on other social media such like Kik and etc. I am one of the last dying one trying to bump this thread whenever I am on.If motivation comes in a liquid form, it would be dripping off my fingers tips.

I was being stupid back then. Trying to get new PR with bad form and weak hamstrings and glutes. Got a herniated disc at L4/L5 that gave me sciatica. I think it was called discectomy.
So leg extensions, press and curls do not work for your legs? We all get fat sometimes in our life so don't worry too much. We all look alike when we hit the 60s - 90s.
That sucks that everyone is moving to other social media. I always thought there were a lot of Asians here especially in Misc. I guess I was wrong. Well thank you for bumping this thread! Otherwise I would have not found it.

Oh wow, how long was your recovery time? Doing legs extensions, press and curls are enough for me to maintenance them. At least I can still do these so no complain here.
You should have been here during 2007-2011, this thread was happening big time. It moves several pages a day. It started dying down in 2012 and pretty much dead the last couple years. LOL
Well I am glad you found it and keeping this active. I am sure other people will join in when they see it.
I don't really post in the misc at all. I do lurk during downtime. If motivation comes in a liquid form, it would be dripping off my fingers tips.

It took me about 12 weeks to fully walk normal again (limping on left leg due to pain) but I was swimming by the 4th week (surgeon's approval). Started slowly back to lifting with dumbbells. Hired a trainer and starting strength coach along the way and now I am back on my own but taking my time to increase weights. Too scared to go back to that pain again.
If the machines work for you then keep on doing them. You are not competing so just enjoy.
So everything did change in 2012. People in the Misc keep saying that everything changed after 2012. I guess this was one of them. lol
I will keep it active as much as I can as long as you come back to post too. Lol.. I cannot just talk to myself here. We need more Asians participation!

That is great that you're making great progess. I need to get a MRI for mine. But my doctor requires me to attend 30 sessions of physical theapthy first before my insurrance covers for my MRI. However, each session of physical theapthy costs $100 copay out of my pocket. So I stopped after 3 sessions. Will need to find another way to get around it so I can get a MRI done.
The misc used to be full of lulz and the mods were that strict as it is. You can always find lulz threads daily. Now it went ot 180.
I am still around but I don't post much since no one that I know post anymore. I just come here to read the misc. lol
Have a good weekend! Any plan for the weekend? If motivation comes in a liquid form, it would be dripping off my fingers tips.

Happy Friday to you and to everyone that is reading this thread!
OH that sucks that you have to do physical therapy. I went straight to MRI because my left leg was pretty much limping and losing strength. The nerves on my left calf was pretty much damaged (couldn't even do a calf raise). My surgeon requested a high priority MRI due to my severity. Maybe you can get another doctor and list your severity to him/her to send a high priority to MRI. The insurance company needs a critical reason for the MRI (they suck).
No plans for the weekend except the regular grocery shopping, cleaning, washing and spending time with my mom. Maybe watch Infinity War again (this will be my 10th time). I don't drink and never liked bars/clubs. Maybe log into work for a little bit to work on my virtual servers.
What about you? How is the atmosphere where you live (I think you mentioned to me before where you are)? I definitely miss the food up there.

Good idea. I think I might give another doc a try to see if I can get a critical reason to get an MRI.
I didnt do anything at all beside went to buffet. You know how us Asian love lobsters so I had 3 full lobsters and sashimi. I don't do the club or bar thing too. Used to be an alcoholic but grew out of it. Now I drink a couple beers once a year during the holiday and that is it.
Love where I am at. It does live up to its name as American Finest City. Did you move to a different state or still the same state but up north?

Happy Tuesday! Was sick over the weekend and still recovering but much better. I think you meant Asians love anything that is abundance and cheap. LOL!! just kidding. Yes we do love to eat. When my family and I go to those Asian buffets the first thing they would get is two plates of crab legs. I go for the grilled fish and bbq pork.
Did you celebrate the Moon festival? It was last month. I ate too many moon cakes. My belly was round as the moon. haha...
I am still in SoCal. I love SoCal and I cannot leave because I have responsibility to take care of my mom. You know how Asian families are.

LOL I am definitely in the crew for sure. LOL Not a fan of buffet crab legs. I perfer the aisan salt n pepper ones but they are pricey as fuk. lol I usually hit up the prim ribs if there is no seafoods or sushi around.
My family celebrate the Moon festival. I think is cool to keep that traditional going, but not a fan of mooncake. Didn't really eat much of it. I doubt your belly looking round like the moon unless you're expecting. LOL
I am with you on the SoCal thing. Can't see myself moving anywhere. SoCal is home and is also the best Cal.
How you feeling today? Much better? Happy Tuesday! If motivation comes in a liquid form, it would be dripping off my fingers tips.

Happy Thursday! I wish it was Friday. Been so busy the last couple of days at work. I feel much better. Thank you!
Do you make the salt n pepper crab at home? I make them at home. I agree with you. It is soooo yummy. I also make one with the garlic sauce.
hahaha.. no not expecting at all. I hope my belly does not look that big. Are you excited for Tet/Chinese New Year? Every year we go to the temple and pray. Do you go to temple?

Happy thursday to you, but Friday to me. I don't know how to cook. I just know how to eat. But if you ever have party and you cooking that up, don't forget about my invite. lol Oh garlic and butter.... hm.... nom nom nom.
I used to be excited for Tet, but no so much any more. Doesn't seen as fun as it used to be. But if I have some down time, I may still go just to snacks on them Asian foods. And don't forget nuoc mia. One of my favorite drink. Do like those too or are you the pennyworth drink type?
Which temple do you go to? The one here are small. If I do go, is the one in LA. That huge one. You know which one I am talking about? I am sure you been there before.
LOL Everyone in here is lady to me. Is an inside joke that started way back in the days. LOL
Yep, Friday for me. Got tomorrow off. Have a good weekend. If motivation comes in a liquid form, it would be dripping off my fingers tips.

Happy Monday! Finally taking a break from working even though I am still working.
When you said nuoc mia in your last post, I thought you said nuoc nam. Lol. I have no idea why I thought that. I don't know a lot of Vietnamese words (I'm Chinese). Yes we always go to the big temple in LA. That is the most popular one. We either go really early so we can see the Lion Dance or late at night because parking is crazy. I tried pennyworth before but not my taste. I rather eat the three color beans dessert. Come on.. we only get tet/Chinese new year once each year. We don't have a lot of holidays so enjoy it. Have fun! Do you have to give out red envelopes or you are still getting them?
I worked over the weekend. I even skipped lunch with my family and they went to an Asian buffet.
Did you have a good weekend? Go Chargers and I used to watch the Lakers when Shaq was still there. lol..

LOL Wow you work a lot? What do you do for work? You have to bring work home for the weekend too? I too work on weekend as well.
All these time I thought you're Viet. LOL Are you full Chinese or Vietnam born Chinese? My Vietnamese is bad cause I am not Viet either. hahaha Oh I love those 3 color beans dessert too. Speaking of it, I am craving some now. Haven't had that in a long time.
Yep, the parking at the LA temple is insane. Is there any other temples that you been to that you would recommend? I am too old to be getting red envelopes. I wish I still do tho. I don't give them out either except to my nephew. Are you giving them out? Can I have one too? LOL
I usually work on the weekend so weekend is the same is working day for me. Not thing different. Oh I did went to the San Diego Fit Expo. Is the very first one in SD. Were you aware of it? It was kind of weak because it was small and not crowd like the LA Fit Expo. But it was cool to stroll around without bumping into other people.
You're a Chargers and Lakers fan too? Now you can become my bff.
Happy Tuesday to you!If motivation comes in a liquid form, it would be dripping off my fingers tips.

Happy Tuesday. Yeah I work a lot. What do I do for work? Take a guess? lol... hint: I'm part of the geek group. I just log into work from home. I finally got the virtual machines to communicate with each other under our private EC2 stack. I thought you didn't have to work on the weekend? You said Friday is the start of your weekend. What do you do for work?
I'm full Chinese from China. I learned some Vietnamese words via my friends from HS and college. Unfortunately, I have not been to other temples. My mom loves the stinky tofu at the big temple so we just go there. You know how Asian moms are. Somehow they always get what they want. LOL.. Are you Filipino?
I did not know San Diego has a Fit expo. I know that LA has a big Fit expo. Wanted to go to one but never been to one. Besides I will be the smallest person there compared to all these buff people. hahaha.. Did you get anything from the expo? Any famous people there?
I don't watch the Lakers anymore. I watched them when they got their Championship back in the old days. You remember Spud Webb? Sucks that LT is no longer with Chargers.
