Will be updating my week this week. Coming in around 206 right now and need to start dialing it in for April. I want to do a long prep so I can hold on as much muscle as possible. I do have a dilemma in that I have an aggravated left shoulder right now and have to figure out what to do around it. We will see.

Here was after an arm day last week

I have not updated in a while. I was going to compete in April but now I have decided to compete in June. It is mostly scheduling and want to take a good long prep. I will be starting to prep after Christmas for 23 weeks. Be ready early and keep as much lean body mass as possible. When you are "natty" you can't take short preps without losing a lot of muscle.

You will get everything updated next week!

The journey begins tomorrow. At 212 and have 23 weeks to get in the best conditioning of my life. Should be fun to get there! Excited for becoming my best and doing it without any kind of performance enhancing drugs. I will be competing in the biggest bodybuilding league in the world, the IFBB in June. I earned my IFBB pro card in 2014 and now it is time to put it to the test.

You might be asking, "where have I been" or "who is this guy?" It has been a while. If you want to see my story, go to the first page, first post of this thread and it will tell you. Wow, have I ever stopped and started a bunch. With both my mom and dad passing away this year to having a bunch of career changes as well as some injuries here and there, I am where I am. I am less than 13 weeks out to my first IFBB show that I will be doing. It will be Europa Dallas. I am behind on prep right now but hopefully will get there in 11 weeks.

I am currently sitting at 206 right now probably going to be in the 193-195 range on stage. I have decided to do a show to compete with the young guns and do it "drug free." A little over ago I went to the Phil Heath Classic and I watched Freddy Naidu beat a top lineup with a smaller physique. He looked great but he was way smaller than the other guys. I have heard physique would be going smaller and more aesthetic but was not convinced after watching the Arnold. It is anyone's guess on how they will judge in June in Dallas but I am going to do this.

I am a bit behind right now but do think I have a good chance to catch up the next few weeks. I will be using some methods I have not used in the past like fasted cardio in the morning and working out in the afternoon and/or night. My calories are in the 2,700 range (332 p/235 c/ 53 f). Some might think protein is too high but this has been a good range for me and will stick with it. This is a bit aggressive for me on the calorie range but I need to get ahead of things these next few weeks because I don't have "cushion" weeks to get me there. I might start taking refeed days next week. Every week needs to be spot on.

I will be doing my own coaching this time around to really understand my body. I have been doing my own coaching the past 2 1/2 years and most of my competitive career.

I need to get a shoulder and bicep worked on for some trigger point therapy. Hope to get in the next few days to get worked on.

I will post my workouts but here is what they will look like:

AM days on lifting days I will be doing 30 minutes of LISS cardio (stationary bike, stairmill, elliptical or incline walk on treadmill) with a mix of calves or abs

    PM will be lifting:

This is what it will look like this week:

Monday AM: 30 min LISS PM: Legs
    Tuesday: HIIT
Wednesday AM 30 min LISS PM: Chest/Back
Thursday AM 30 min LISS PM: Shoulders/Arms
Friday AM 30 min LISS PM: Legs
    Saturday: HIIT
Sunday: AM 30 min LISS PM: Chest/Back

I will share different things along the way. This will be new for me because I am getting a little more aggressive than usual on caloric deficit and also doing LISS in the morning on BCAA's and Glutamine. Will this make me lose more muscle? It could so I will monitor.

The one thing that I want to tell everyone is I will be doing this "drug free" (no hormones, steroids, HGH, cut drugs etc). There will not be some kind of "magic" behind the scenese that doesn't make sense. I will just be taking you through my own prep and be sharing about my experiences along the way. I am just a 45 year old, husband of 21 years and have 5 kids with a busy life. I also have a passion for bodybuilding and the great thing about the physique division is it has given me a place to compete.

    Monday (Chest):

Hammer Incline Chest Press: 3 sets of 10 reps with a drop set
Flat Bench Press: 3 sets of 10 reps with a drop set
Dumbbell Flyes: 3 sets of 10 reps w a drop set
Dips: 3 sets of 10 reps
    Dumbbell Straight-Arm Pull-Over: 3 sets of 10 reps
Standing Calf Raise: 3 sets of 10 reps with drop set
Seated Calf Raise: 3 sets of 10 reps with drop set

    Tuesday (Arms):
    Rope Push-Down: 3 sets of 10 reps
Machine Dips: 3 sets of 10 reps
Close-Grip Bench Press: 3 sets of 10 reps
    Straight-Bar Push-Down: 3 sets of 10 reps
Barbell Curl: 3 sets of 10 reps
Preacher Curl: 3 sets of 10 reps
Dumbbell Curl: 3 sets of 10 reps
Hammer Curl: 3 sets of 10 reps
Reverse Curl: 3 sets of 10 reps

    Wednesday:

HIIT 25 minutes on elliptical machine with calves and abs

    Thursday (Back):

    Reverse-Grip Pull-Down: 4 sets of 10 reps
One-Arm Dumbbell Row: 4 sets of 10 reps
    T-Bar Row: 4 sets of 10 reps
Bent-Over Barbell Row: 3 sets of 10 reps
Seated Cable Row: 3 sets of 10 reps
Back Extensions: 3 sets of 10 reps

Will start updating this thread 2-3 times per week. Also if you want to get a 15 second "video" version of my prep, you can follow me on Instagram and Snapchat -- chadjacksonfit

All talk no action Chad. What happened to your journey to the IFBB pro stage? Where has Chad been? He said he was competing and would start posting. Why hasn't he? Great question. I know some of you might be asking (maybe your not..)

Let me give you some updates. First of all 2015 was a crazy year. I ended up leaving my corporate job to take on coaching full time. in 2015, both of my parents unexpectantly passed away. I was taking care of my mom from June until she passed away in Sept of 2015. We had to sort out all of the "stuff" that goes along with your parents passing away.

I have built my coaching business pretty well but have been doing doing consulting work for a nutrition company. In all of that, I was named acting VP of Marketing for this nutrition company (if you want to see what company it is see in my profile here: https://www.instagram.com/chadjacksonfit/ -- you can probably guess who it is with what I post).

I am now working 7 days a week which is insane. My workouts and diet are dialed in and doing well. I am about 201.5 and need to be around 192-194 to get on stage. I probably could compete in 7 weeks but something will break if I do. I decided to choose another contest in mid-October in California (about 15 weeks away) to give me some extra time and try breath a little bit.

I am taking a deload week this week to kind of put it all together. I will probably hire a coach during this time so I don't have to try to figure everything out during this very busy time in my life.

I am definitely living the dream. Has it been easy? By no means but it has been worth it. God has definitely done all of this. It hasn't been me (yes, I have gone out and done the hard work but God has opened up all the doors for me).

When I get back from my deload week. I will start posting my prep. Should be fun preparing and I have definitely made some improvements in 2 years which I am excited to be able to show in October.

I apologize to all of you where I have said "here I go" for prep. Lots of starts and stops and winding roads. From 2012-2014 competing was very high on my list on things I wanted to do. It has taken a backseat these past few years.

The good thing is my diet and workout habits have been the same. I am just not in a "shredded" state. I will get there. It should be a fun journey.

I will keep you updated as things come along.

Will definitely be following brother, you're story is inspiring! Only compete when you are 100% ready, no shame in putting it on the backburner sometimes. Family first! I have really realized this after my last show recently

I have now committed to a show and there is no looking back. I will be competing at the IFBB PRO TITANS GRAND PRIX. I have a coach and a plane ticket to LA. I will update more tomorrow. To give you bit of an update, I am about 8 weeks out and around 198 right now. Need to be in the 192 range (probably). Waist line has gone down a lot the past 3 weeks so very happy with this.

I will share macros, workouts and cardio tomorrow....

Here is what I look like right now.

I will be putting a new thread together starting tomorrow. STAY TUNED.....

Alright everyone! Some of you were probably saying, "where did this guy go? He said he was going to post and never did. Just one of those typical guys who said they would do something and we never here from him again.

Well I am here and I am less than 2 weeks out from my competition. Doing more cardio than I ever have for a prep and starving right now. I have put in the work and truly believe I will be in the best conditioned I have ever been in.

I won't be the biggest in the contest but will definitely have good conditioning. Remember, my background. I am still "lifetime drug free" (no HGH, steroids etc). I am 46 years old....yes I am getting older by the day. I am also working 60 hr weeks married for 21 years and have 5 kids (taking 3 kids to different activities -- 1 is in college and 1 can drive so only having to be a carpool for 3 kids).

I had a 12 week prep and probably would not have to do as much cardio if I would have prepared for 14-16 weeks. Live and learn and every prep is different.

I will be competing in my first IFBB pro competition in physique on October 15th in Culver City, CA at the Titans Grand Prix. Should be fun. Here is my current conditioning 2 weeks out. I am sitting lower in weight than I thought I would be but it is pretty unrealistic to gain a ton of lean body mass as an advanced lifter, drug free at 46 years old. You can do it, it just takes a long time. Anyway, here are some pictures. I will keep you up to date on how things go going forward. You can also keep up with me on Instagram at www.instagram.com/chadjacksonfit and ******** www.********.com/chadjacksonfitness

It is Wednesday and I am dragging tail today. My carbs are in the 80 range and have not had a refeed in a while. I think we are going to cruise into the contest but we will see. I feel like I am in a good position just need to make sure my posing is down.

It was a chest and back day today as well as a LISS cardio session of 25 min as well as another 45 LISS session late night. Cravings are big right now and everything tastes good going down. Will have to be very careful transitioning after my contest because of all the cardio and low carbs right now.

Let me know if this forum is dying. If it is still alive and kicking, I will start posting here again. Hard to find the forums now when you are a newbie. I am not sure if this is on purpose for bb.com or not.

I guess this forum is dying. No responses...

Like crickets. Very sad. This used to be one of the best forums out there. It is unfortunate that BB.com has hidden it. If you were a new user you wouldn't even be able to find it. Oh well...hopefully someone is able to get something out of this journal and journey.

All this transformation with just 6 hours of sleep a day!?

How do you ever manage to keep your immune system so strong?
Live life like a pair of walking legs. The foot forward has no pride and the foot behind has no shame, because both know their situation will change.

Everyone, I want to give you an update. I am about 5 months post contest. I am about 210 (about 20 lbs outside of my stage weight). Hormonally I am back to normal again and feel good in the weight room again.

The contest prep was all consuming in a lot of ways. I alway enjoyed getting prepared but it takes away other things in life. I love competing because I have been a competitor all my life.

I am re-evaluating some stuff and don't know if I will compete in the IFBB again. If it was an even playing field I might do it but when I am PED free and been that way all my life, there are huge disadvantages when you are competing for the best physique in the IFBB. I am not making excuses because I have chosen to go this route but it truly is like taking a "butter knife to a gun fight." I sometimes think about what I would look like if I was on performance enhancing drugs. In fact, I truly believe my physique would be world class (sounds like I am bragging but do believe this). Some people say I should at least do TRT but I just don't want to go down that route. I think if I did, I would never get off of it.

That is the choice I have made. I have some other goals I want to accomplish and really enjoy my VP of Marketing role at Labrada. I also want to give back to my wife who has supported me in everything that I have done. I need to get out of the focus being on me and put it back on others. I will always lift and stay in decent shape just might not compete again for a while. Maybe my 50th birthday I will compete in a drug free bodybuilding federation. Who knows....

I don't know how many people see this thread anymore but I continue to coach people (every day people --- I don't coach competitors) to transform their bodies. I take on new clients at one time every month. This has been very rewarding. If you want more information on the program you can go to www.chadjacksonfitness.com3 and I will send you more information.

Hope I have helped or inspired some of you along the way.

I've been following along for the past few years and have learned so much from you Chad. Thanks for putting so much information out. When you started your 12 week transformation groups, did you originally run them on your own or though BB.com?

    From the stage

I never posted a stage shot of me. I ended out beating out a 20 something Olympian in this contest which was fun. The guys now look totally different than we used to look like. Now they look like bodybuilders in shorts. To be honest it is a ridiculous look. It was fun to compete and do it "drug free." Always was drug free and will continue to maintain that. I coach others in their own transformations.

Current pic 51 years old 4/23/22

About 2 years since I posted in this thread. I am now in my 50’s (51 years young). Torn labrum 3 years ago put me on shelf. Thought I could rest it to get it better. Never did get better. Just worked through it (no surgery and still hurts). Got up to 228 and out of shape in December. Got “fat.” Got back down to 189 at first of April. I am about 191 right now. I will start posting again at www.Instagram.com/chadjacksonfitness. My current pic is there (bb . Com won’t let me post a pic) . No plans to compete anymore. Guys are way to big in physique division. Couldn’t compete without P E D s. I am still lifetime drug free (no T R T Or anything else).
