Yeah. It's very hypocritical. He isn't even religious. He went to mosque on eid and a couple Fridays here and there. I remember finding a bottle of whiskey or some type of alcohol hidden in my house when I was younger. That's when I first realized something was up. I try not to judge though, because everyone has their own trials and tribulations. But I am his only daughter and becoming Christian has been the best thing that happened in my life, so it hurts me that he can't except that.

Get real. What kind of PC moron world are we in if mentioning someone's parents died and left her a nice house and a big chunk of money is TOOO INSENSITIVE or OFFENSIVE or UPSETTING? She is not suffering the oppression many of her compatriots in less fortunate circumstances do, so her herpderp about how her compatriots are so free and what not, RINGS HOLLOW, and doesn't jibe with reality. What drives secrecy is fear. And IMO, you should never be afraid of expressing your beliefs. Regardless of whether someone agrees with you or not.

Fear of losing family members who may shun you, not cause they personally want to (it's prob awful for them too), because they think it is the best course of action to take for your salvation. Not saying I agree at all, just putting it out there.

Similarly, an atheist, for example, may not want to put his parents through the emotional torment of fearing that their child be doused in eternal hellfire.

Of course, I think that the ideal is to be honest and open on both ends and work through the issues civilly and with great care and concern, but unfortunately that is not the lot that everyone has been given.
