Thread for discussion on weekly plays
If you are going to mention specific salaries or player you like make sure you mention what site you are referring too. FD and DK have some major differences with 1ppr, added flex, bonus points, etc

Best advice I could give is to start slow and learn.
Even if it is as little as $5/week. Learning the industry and the different sites will come in time.
The experience outweighs the potential profit while you are learning.
Look at matchups... so if STL is bad against the run you might want to look at playing AP week 1.
If the bills can't stop the pass you might want to look at cutler/Marshall
Everything is extremely relative because each player has a salary attached to them.
I might like Roddy White vs the Eagles, but if he is 8,700 on Draftkings and I see a player like Jordy Nelson at 7.8k against the Chargers... well Roddy doesn't look like a complete must play anymore... and might I add there is probably nothing that is a "must play".
that link has some posts in it.. let me find them

I don't believe you need to spend more on one position over the other really since there are some many players in DKs format.
What I recommend...
create a spread sheet of your own for the NFL season... you can export salaries from DK
create a tab for each position and next to each player make a "floor" and a "celling" of your projection
then do a formula to divide those numbers by their salary to determine points/ salary to determine how many points you need per $1
so lets say you have Adrian Peterson
his floor is 15
his ceiling is 25
his salary is 8,000
his point per $ for each number is
floor = 15/8000 = .001875
celling = 25/8000 = .003125
so per $1,000...
his floor is 1.875 points
his celling is 3.125 points
now compare these numbers to all the other rbs for the RB positon and compare to this to all other wr/rb/te for the flex position
find the most bang for your buck
this was a complete example btw..
there is so much more you can do with manipulating numbers, but this is just one example.
or if you believe you will need 200 points from your roster to win a tournament
do this..
points/salary
200/100,000 =.002
.002 *1,000= 2
You need atleast 2 points for every $1000 you spend.
AP Cost 8,000
you need 16 points from him to be worth ur while
8,000 *.002 =16

They offer the beginner games for MLB. All of them are guaranteed games meaning that even if they don't fill, they still run. I've noticed that on most days, not all of the 50/50s will fill. I've been grabbing a lot of these games in the last minutes before the lock. For example, I've had a few 20 person 50/50s only fill 11 or 12 spots. This is basically free money since 10 of those 11 or 12 people are going to cash.

When games do not fill it is called "over-lay" ... just be careful on thinking you can scoop up some overlay without any risk. There might be a $25 50/50 with 11/20 filled with 1 min left... but there are other people doing the same thing you are doing. Within that 1 minute 7 people might join and it could be 18/20 or 19/20 by the time the game starts.
Usually you will catch some overlay... and sometimes you can catch some pretty significant overlay. It is a useful tip, but just be aware there is a possibility it will fill even thought it does not look like it will. If it is a large tournament and there are hundred of spots open then you are probably fine.

Definitely in for some Daily Fantasy this year. Gave it a try last year and liked it and plan on committing fully to it every week this year. Has anyone ever tried out Rotogrinders NFL incentives? Wondering if it would be worth it or not.

I would probably go for FanDuel then DraftKings. I was going to try to see if there was a referral bonus option for DraftKings and pay the normal way for FanDuel. Prices aren't up yet on the incentives but I have heard they will be tomorrow. Hoping they are reasonable.
I will be sure to tune in this Wednesday! Thanks for the heads up!Off-Season Gaining

How did you get to the point where you are now? I consider myself a pretty strong season fantasy player but I know that does not always entirely translate to daily. Do you have any advice on building a bankroll? I am thinking about starting out the year with about $100 to see how it goes but wasn't sure if when you started you built up the bankroll slowly through 50/50's or went big on the tourneys?

If you want incentives, def sign up to DK through the RG links, well worth it.
I built my roll over the years playing 50/50's and H2H for the most part. Put on what your comfortable with, dont spend more than you can afford to lose Week 1, play the large field single entry double ups would be my advice to sustain the bankroll/fun for the season.
It takes a pretty big bankroll $10,000+ to really churn out profit day in day out, unless of course you bink one of the huge GPP's.

Don't get both.
Incentives are okay but if you are knowledgable you do not need them. The only real important stuff is matchups and that's free. They can mention good plays but they can also mention mediocre ones, but that is just the nature of fantasy sports. Sometimes someone might look like an obvious play but if you look deeper you can tell if a defense locks down the #1 player on the opposing team or they go balanced.
An example is the patriots and jimmy graham. He was a clear no-go because of how the patriots are. Incentives might be helpful just to get a second opinion on things, but since I have them and for multi sites I tend to know everything already posted by the time I read them. At the end of the day you should generally rely on your own analysis. If you have one sites incentives you generally can get a jist of who people like even those salary and scoring are different. An easy way to find bargin bin players are to start from the bottom of a position list and work your way up. I appreciate all the work they do, but I personally do not see a major advantage in buying them if you already have one sites. All the important stats like targets, snaps, DvP are all free or you can look on other sites.
This is just my personnel experience. I have seen multiple times where things are messed up in posts, especially during the NBA season.
lol I remember last year they were saying Bledsoe was s great play one night meanwhile he wasn't supposed to come back for 3 weeks still. Do your own research when you examine others advice
If you have time, I'd advise you buy nfl rewind. Go grab a promo code and buy the season package. You can watch games in 30 minutes and take notes while watching them. Do it correctly and you can gain a huge advantage over the player looks on FD/DK.
I'm not trying to knock RG but I do not see a tremendous upside in buying incentives when you already have one set. I've seen multi times a cut and paste description between players on sites. There are some differences but nothing to redic. Generally there is a tool that you can compare salaries of players across platforms. You can see I there are major Variances. I like their free tools the most.
This is just all from experience and others such as jross j2b and Ricardo can back this up. Getting the free incentives are perfectly fine and g'day is worth it, but not sure if ever but straight up.
I have/had since post mergers, incentives on like 5-7 sites.Last edited by Impurityz; 09-01-2014 at 02:43 PM.

DD is a fine site. I played NBA on there but the population on the site was rather low. Everyone has their preference in sites but FD and DK are prob the best sites. I might check out some FF this season though.
I try not to use too many sites anymore. DS and SS are gone so besides DD there are some smaller or more unknown ones such as fantasy aces and fantasy feud.CPA

Just started in my first week at fanduel, made a bet just to get my feet wet in a large college fb tournmanent and came in 800/1100 lol
Been doing a little research and have now entered into a $5 50/50 NFL league, i know the players ALOT better than CFB but I'm sure everyone else does as well. What are some FREE sites to get some tools and info to help me make educated lineups each week? Would really like to make a couple hundo over the seasonyeeea brah
