Howdy steffster!
Good looking gear there even though I know nothing about cameras nor have I even grasped how to take a pic with my state of the art flip phone.
Yes....being a musician sort of guy I totally agree...."it never ends"
Plus, if we don't ultimately cave to our personal interests we'll likely dream about it.
Haven't chimed in here before but thought I'd pollute the thread when I saw your post.
Hope all is well with everyone....back to topic.

Hey Wayne,
I'm a bit of a slow starter on new things and was never a tech person, but research and read up like no other if motivated enough and been doing pretty much that for a while now. Wish I could be more like some folks that just jump straight into things, but we're all different and that's ok. Getting a book I've been waiting for on wednesday...about my camera..written by a photgrapher of 50 yrs so think that will be good for me as a newb rather than a normal ****ty manual.
Looking at a few more items to get and also started to think of what I would really like to shoot and what places I have access to to practice. Some decent places here and even though will try several different types of photgraphy, I'm thinking it would be really cool if could combine an interest in history with this and make some places come to back to life as if using a time machine. Going to Gotland late August, which is an old viking town etc...and started imagining how cool it would be to use a model in some spots to make it come to life and look like it was back then – viking or bronze age at some historical spots. Got way ahead of myself and even looked up what agencies had to offer and found several which had beautiful models that could easily fill the part of a viking chick.
Looked into making a beginner photo trip for myself in september perhaps. There's a beautiful coastal place not far from here that is a popular vacation spot, but also has a giant zoo area on lands, where seemingly the Norweigan king lived in the 14th century (when it belonged to them).

They have all kinds of cool animals to hopefully get some good shots of – like snow leopard, red pandas and much more.
These things are so cute I might try to steal one and put it in my camera bag.
Then closeby there are some aquariums as well so perhaps can get some nice pics - maybe that antireflex lens will help. Besides that there are a handful recommended spots by the water and up on the cliffs for nice evening/sunset pictures. Found a great place to stay as well (with an oceanview) so hoping to do this.Last edited by steffo99; 06-13-2022 at 07:13 PM.

Sorry, superslow to get started - I always over research and worry it won't be good so it takes some time. Took some test shots the other day close to my place and tried a little quick edit on these 2 below - have to learn this editing/program as well - got it today at a summer deal. These are half size of the originals - not sure what is best to post on forums.
Did see right away when going over everything what happened and why/how camera reacted to what I did or focused on etc and what I can improve next time. Will go to a nice spot tomorrow hopefully, with an 18th century mansion and gardens so I can show a few more soon. Will attempt a few different things, bracketing, focus stacking and some other stuff just to have tried it for the first time...and then just walk around and enjoy free shooting - mainly thinking about composition. Will start out with Manual - Auto ISO I think and try to think about the other two settings as I go along.

Just came back from Halmstad. Stayed 3 nights and went to an Alphaville concert. Some pics I took walking around the city. The red building at the end is Halmstad Castle:

Playing around with an editing program. Still have to find the tool to just slightly rotate to make things straight. A lot of sky effects - makes it feel like cheating a bit, but still fun to play with. Edit: found the function inside the crop tool. Will also try add alignment tool into the viewfinder - know I saved a video of how to do it - should help a bit.Last edited by steffo99; 07-16-2022 at 05:50 AM.

Went to this indoor animal place today, but all pics turned out really bad. Super high iso and no flashes allowed in there. Kids and clueless ppl all around you....humid and what felt like 110 degrees. Thanks to editing software I could still salvage one or two shots somewhat, but still pretty poor details if zoom in. Looking forward to the September trip and shooting some animals outside though. Check the watermark btw – I am clearly a pro now.
Btw, I did get on1Raw as an editor and just wanted to show what a crazy capacity some functions have. Used Nonoise AI on these - thought I would throw all pics in the trash with iso 12800 and that grainyness, but this is what that single function did. Will ofc try to avoid that situation all together, but still nice to have an option.
There's a park with a few cool animals not far from here so hoping to find time to swing by tomorrow.Last edited by steffo99; 08-07-2022 at 07:45 AM.
