AKmuzzie, most Americans agree that the Iraq War was a horrendous mistake. Nevertheless, how does the atrocities committed in that war, in your mind, justify the savagery and violence of ISIS? Why shouldn't third parties like the US do everything they can to prevent an active genocide?
And calling attention to the plights of Palestinians and the lack of an American response is hardly comparable for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which include a genocide in Iraq which is not the case in Palestine. But furthermore we are the ones that destabilized the power structure of Iraq and as such we bear responsibility for protecting those who have been displaced by the war we started.Virile agitur

Its because Islam is a violent religion.
There is a passage in the quran where it talks about how to behave in war. Something like, fight them where they fight you, but when they stop, you stop for got hates transgressors.
So when we attack Iraq , muslims must fight back, but when we stop, they stop. God hates transgressors.

cool, then tell all the christians to grab up their private arms, head off in their private transports and go fight a non-u.s. taxpayer funded war
2) if we have the ability to halt genocide then we should do so.
3) it's duly our responsibility to save the massacred minorities because our actions in Iraq directly led to their currently suffering inasmuch as the destabilization of Iraq facilitated the circumstances for religious persecution.

Yeah, tell all of the Jews in the 1930s to head off to war to fight Hitler!
Not our job.
Its not our responsibility to save anyone. Our actions in iraq left them with a staffed, stocked and trained military..their lack of backbone let them get run off by ISIS. Not our problem.Virile agitur

Because the jews of 1930's germany that were being slaughtered are TOTALLY the same as U.S. Christians going off to fight a war on the other side of the planet.
Our brilliant decision to have a unified Iraq under "dem democraceeees" instead of dividing by ethnic regions facilitated the humanitarian disaster since the Shias in charge didn't do chit to help other Iraqi ethnic groups in distress.

I cant wait for this shyt to go to congress so obama can get denied again. Were not going into syria so why go back into iraq.
It will look like we are taking sides.
If we go fight ISIS , saudi arabia and rich sheiks in the GCC will be supporting them . Iran can do that.

ISIS is mostly Iraqi's but has people from all over the planet. There's roughly a thousand Russian speakers in it mostly from the Caucasus. There's guys from other middle eastern nations, Africa, US, Europe, etc. Still most of them are Iraqi sunnis - the same guys killing Iraqi's civilians and military and attackign US forces in Iraq for the last decade. ISIS is just the transition from AQI, Mujahideen Shura Council, and ISI into a more terrible and formiddable and dangerous group- different leadership, larger goals and ambition, and more men now.

More blowback from a failed interventionist American foreign policy. Obviously I feel bad for the guy and his family, and ISIS is complete scum, but I'm not going to support fking up things even more than we already have by doing more military action over there. The journalist was in the middle of a warzone in Syria, so he put his own life at risk by his own decisions. If ISIS wants to foolishly attempt to bring their "holy war" to America, then myself and other Americans will be waiting with our AR-15's.

When someone is fully and effectively mind controlled into saying or doing something by intensive brainwashing techniques, it is not truly them doing it of their own free will but rather their handlers acting through that person's body.

You mean like bombing the **** out of them and sending in special forces advisers?
ISIS is running the Bin Laden playbook. They don't want us gone. They want us to come right back.
They want us to come over and get into another war which will cause more anti-western recruits and put us in another quagmire.
The best thing Obama can do is support the opposition with money, training, weapons, and air support.
He's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. Waiting. Not running in guns blazing like the last president with a bunch of bull**** trumped up evidence for a full scale invasion.

British murderer of Foley apparently well-known to UK authorities
http://www.thewire.com/global/2014/0...r-isil/378859/
The world is the way it is, not the way Obama and many people want it to be. Force rules this world when talking fails to resolve significant opposition among determined people. Those that refuse to use force when its needed lose. ISIS knows how to use force and terrorism(among other things) highly effectively. Meanwhile Obama is thinking of a utopia where people will respect him if he's nice to them and does not provoke them. That does not exist nor ever will.
