Isn't that the truth! Everyday at lunch my coworker would get one of those f'real ice cream shakes and then give me a hard time for eating a buffalo chicken wrap I made at home and some G/Y. Must be why he's 6'0 265 and I'm 5'10 165

I think my favorite diet criticism is when people either complain about not gaining weight when they "eat so much", when in all reality they hardly eat. Or the guy who can't seem to lose weight even though he eats my typical days food every meal.

I'm always known as the "healthy" guy at work. Kinda sad considering the only reason I'm labeled as such is because I'm not 30%+ body fat and don't go ham on cookies and other fried stuff that's usually back there.

Hahahaha yes! Today I fasted until supper and went out with some buddies and had a huge steak with some left over calories for ice cream and they were shocked. I still have 350 left for the day so I'm probably gonna fill them with some protein and leave myself 150-200 as a buffer for whatever the restaurant added to the steak on top of what I already added on. IIFYM is the best within reason of course!

gotta be careful; if it DOESN'T work, you got a serious backfire to dig your way out of.

Chinese people believe that you shouldn't eat too much meat. from a practical standpoint, it makes sense: your body doesn't need as much as most people think; and the extra calories could be going towards micros. for me, i can eat a lot more protein than i can vegetables and it usually includes more fat calories to help me bulk. so it's a bit frustrating when i want to put away another serving of food (and stuff myself in the process, often) and people keep saying like "no you shouldn't eat so much beef" etc.

what i've learned though, is that stuffing my pie hole with big servings of food doesn't work well for me anyway, as i can eat more calories when they're spread out.

so basically i don't get crap about my diet because i've dealt with it with my own changes. if people you know give you **** about the way you eat you should do 2 things:

    1) take a step back and consider that what you're doing is out of the ordinary. are you avoiding eating certain foods irrationally?

    2) ignore them or start being incredibly passive aggressive.

You and Monks. I love your posts.

I'm not incredibly muscular, but among most of my friends I'm the "big" guy. A lot of my friends take my word as gospel when it comes to the gym, which sometimes sucks even worse than being told that you're wrong.

    > Brb, accidentally made IIFYM sound like you can eat junk food all day and now they're doing that even though I explicitly told them that I try to eat predominantly whole foods.
    > Brb, they're new lifters (barely a month or two in) and when I told them I go to the gym 6 times a week, they started to do the same thing.

You can get the idea. But it's just as frustrating the other way around Now I usually don't make mention of what I do unless the person seems like they would genuinely be able to understand.

    A) don't surround yourself with a bunch of idiots who won't support you (a question or two is fine, sometimes it's nice to have that little reminder that a little bit of slack isn't gonna kill you).

    B) if they're not people you're choosing to surround yourself with then ignore them. Putting effort into people who mean nothing is wasted effort

    C) have enough results and the tune changes. They'll start asking you what you're eating and why you chose that (which can be somewhat annoying in its own right).

    D) don't advertise or hide your food. I treat my food the same as everyone else since it's not treated as special then people tend to leave me alone. I never look down on people for their choices and sometimes people do need a little reassurance that you don't care what they eat. No need to feel guilty because you went and got fast food and I'm eating a meal I cooked.

They used to back when my TDEE was a lot lower and I was cutting on 1800-2k cals, but now I'm eating like 5-5.5k cals, I still kind of get criticized but it's more like "Man, you eat so much and stay so lean, I hate you" kinda thing, You can never win.

This. I never make comments about mine or anyone elses food choices. First, people assume I dont eat and that im on a "diet". Then they realize I DO eat and they become interested in how I look the way I do without starving myself. I tend to have a positive influence on people around me, just by doing my thing and not preaching. The people I am around the most in my life (coworkers, SO, family) have started to be more conscious of their food choices I think because I am a constant reminder and inspire them to do so without really saying anything (thats what I've been told). In fact, my coworker has lost 20lb since I started working there a few months ago. I dont say anything to her regarding food or exercise or what she should do, but she always praises me for how I eat and tells me about her workouts and the food shes eating now.

I dont have "haters". Usually, if you're not arrogant about the way you eat, others will be respectful.... Unless you surround yourself with immature individuals.

I usually get the opposite reactions, as my typical daily consumption is high in fat and very high in total energy intake, which confuses people since I'm carrying relatively little body fat.

For example, I'll have a large salad drenched in blue cheese dressing, 20 ounce ribeye and a cheese plate for lunch, while people on "diets" are having plain, low fat foods, and they get frustrated with my "metabolism".

    So much this ^^^

People always claim they can eat "so much" and not gain a pound when in reality it's the same calories as one of my snacks. My old roommate was like that so I had him count his calories one day and it came out to 1,800 haha

That's very similar to one of my friends earlier this summer! I've made a pretty decent transformation since I started my cut, one that is definitely noticeable. Anyway, my friends kind of see me as some type of "nutrition guru" now. One of my buddies can't ever seem to gain weight so he asked me if I could create a meal plan for him. I just told him I can figure out how many calories you need and your macros and I'll let you know that. I texted him that night and told him he should probably be eating around 3500 cals a day, he does carpentry work so he's pretty active and I was somewhat low balling it there. He responds with "dude no way can I eat that much in one day, that's insane". I didn't pressure him into it or anything cuz it's his choice, I just hate how naive people can be about what they eat! I could eat 3500 cals in a meal if I really wanted to!

a bit but im generally very lax with my diet especially when it comes to going on holiday/going out etc, the more annoying thing is people asking how i lose weight so easily as if i have a special pill, especially living with people who are constantly trying and failing to diet

edit: pretty much what everybody has said above about people complaining about being unable to change their own weight

So much "dude what are you taking to lose weight?" Uhh I count calories and workout? No special pill is gonna eliminate a bad diet, despite what they say on commercials...

Yeah, but if you also make it a big deal then people are worse. Like I said, people still need some reassurance and generally it is fine. I guess once you are a certain build then people also somewhat expect it out of you.

when i was cutting, most of the people who commented on how i ate were not in the best of shape.
it's funny how they'd rather make you feel odd for bettering yourself rather than making a change themselves too.

but now since my calories are higher (like former also stated), people can't even tell i'm counting calories.
