The only way Aquaman comes close to being "overrated" is if you look at it in comparison to DC's other movies. Then it may as well be an epic film making achievement on the level of Ben Hur.

this
i went to see a sneak preview and i expected a deadpool clone type of movie.
but it was surprisingly good. the personal life and family situation of billy, in contrast to the character development of the hero ..the tone the villain..it all worked really well. In my opinion, if they play this just right with how they make the black adam movie, they could have a really good franchise. I recommend seeing it. I would even venture that it's a good date movie because at the heart of the story it's about caring about people and family over all

lets get in this .
i tried to rep you but i have to wait
bro, im a grown man. I cried several times in the movie.
the characters made me feel for them and their choices, sacrifices and all.
I was inspired - way more than I expected to be
the contrast in their personalities compared to the first avengers movie is amazing and the big and subtle callbacks to not only the movies but the comics was amazing.
in short it was one of if not the best comic based movie or movie in general i have ever seen

I’m not a crier but I almost got choked up a couple of times. Its just such a perfect conclusion to the Infinity Saga that I really can’t see where they go from here or how you follow that up.
I’ve never believed in superhero movie fatigue but after seeing Endgame, my hype for the future stuff went down. Idk why but maybe that’s what they meant. I’m sure I’ll still see them but nothing will top this.US NAVY

brahs, can you recommend me some comic series?
I prefer series that are relatively small in volume, not gonna bother with series that consist of 1.000s of issues
I seem to like the art-style and over-the-top bloody content (no psycho) of series like f.e.: Kick-Ass, The Boys and The Mask (also liked Kingsman)
as you can tell these are all comics that were made into movies or series since I got to know them that way and picked up the comics afterward as I got interested in the story but I'm sure there are many more comic series like that+++ miscin' at work crew +++

Thread is dead bro.
Haven't been buying or reading DC, but I know what has been going on the past few years and they've gone full retard. Batman's run was complete trash and Tom King ruined a ton of his mythos, they ruined Wally West, Harley Quinn is literally now the strongest character in all of DC; she beat's the Trinity in Heroes in Crisis, get fukt you stupid company. Then they finally give Batman to Tynion IV and he gets a whopping 11 issue run and then they are giving it to a Hollywood screenwriter who wants to write about Lucius Fox's son as Batman instead of Bruce.
Just fuk this company. And don't get me started on the stupidity of all of the Superman stuff from Bendis. Not part of any crews crew

THANK YOU - Marvel has been kinda chitting the bed for a few years trying to be too different and its over the top (like ghost rider getting a flaming space ship >?)
so with them, I'll read spiderman, Hulk and a few xmen ...but I'm sticking with dc this year....and I tried my best to like batman because...he is batman. but damn, they killed alfred and batman is a cuck for catwoman. what is going on with that? and what is up with superman revealing his identity?
you called it about Harley being the only character protected from bullchit. the black label book harly / joker criminal intent or what ever its called is pretty good, with good art and a mystery to get to where joker is.
My go to was Walking dead comics monthly but they suddenly ended the title so im trying to hang in there, but some of this stuff is painful to read.

I'd been reading comics my whole life but tapered off and generally lost interest around spring 2019. The news about the revamped x-men comics pulled me back in, and currently they're the only titles I read.
Hickman was brought on-board specifically to shake things up and make X-men stories interesting again, after years of stagnation and disinterest by Disney (probably due to not owning the film rights up until recently).
Personally I think it's been a huge success. Since the start of HoX/PoX, every x-men title is consistently in the top 10 of the monthly industry sales. It opens up a ton of fresh & new ways the stories can go, and Hickman did something else that's really smart - he issued an edict for all of the X titles to not introduce new protagonists and especially no new omega-level mutants. There's a list of about 460 established mutant characters, and they can play with them. Hickman's also doing the same thing he did with Avengers & FF - setting up a bunch of dominos where they won't get knocked down until 4-6 years later.
Here's what's happening:
1. Moira's been a mutant this whole time. Her power is that she resets time each time she dies. Like she'll live for 60 years, die, and suddenly wake up back in the 1950s (or whenever) in her mom's womb with all of her memories from her past life in tact.
2. She's died (and time-traveled back to her birth) nine times. So she's on her 10th life. The entire marvel/xmen history is occurring during her 10th life.
3. During all 9 previous lifetimes, humans end up destroying the mutant race, typically by creating half-human half-robot Nimrod sentinels. Each time Xavier and the other mutants attempt some other tactic to survive, and it always fails.
4. In this lifetime, she has Xavier read her mind and together with Magneto they hatch a previously un-tried plan: Unite all mutants on earth in order to prevent their species' destruction. In doing so, he's basically giving up his dream of humans and mutants living in harmony.
That's it. That's what's going on in the revamped X-men.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just realized I didn't really answer kneeonbelly's question about cyclops/jean/emma.
Here's the other changes Hickman has made:
- Mutants are now immortal. Five of the mutants, when they combine their powers, have the ability to resurrect dead mutants (they can't resurrect dead humans, just mutants)
- As part of Xavier's, Moira's, and Magneto's plan, all mutants are being relocated to Krakoa, where they've built it up as an international-recognized country
So its under these situations that crazy things are happening:
1. Either Xavier or one of the other telepaths is soft-pushing cult-like logic onto all of the other mutants. Everyone on Krakoa is a true-believer in their set-up of mutant society
2. In order to survive, they believe they need to make more mutants. So, no joke - they have nightly orgies.
3. Previously chaste characters (like Nightcrawler) or asexual ones (like Magik) are now horned up all of the time. Jamie Braddock (Betsy & Cap Britain's brother) mentions how wife-swapping is socially acceptable on the island.
4. Jean Grey set up a living quarters where she has her own bedroom, but there's a door that leads to Cyclop's bedroom, and one that leads to Wolverine's room. They're all immortal now, so that prolly changes their views on life-long monogamy (plus the cult-think)
5. Each time someone is resurrected, they're bodies are brought back in peak-physical and peak-age form. So Jean has the tight body of like a 19 year old. Xavier came back in the body of someone in his late 20s it looks like.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DAMN MAN thank you (reps all around to the comic readers responding today) I collected the two xmen mini series that went over the resurrected thing which i thought was a cool twist. However, the official series that are out now got me all mixed up but thank you for clearing it up.
I did NOT find the part about the mutant orgies HAHAHAHA everyone is getting it in, Gambit is probably living like a king and Rogue better figure it out some how or shes left out.
which is in your opinion the best series to read?

As a kid going to the comic store was more fun for me than going to disneyland. It had so many books i had to read, so many characters to keep up with. it was great. now it seems like a chore to pay for a book that waters down or ruins characters ; not to mention the new format is to create long winding stories so the Trade paper back will be out faster because those are popular now

In the new Excalibur comic, the first thing Rictor does when he goes through the Krakoan gate is ask where the sex parties are at.
Excalibur, Marauders, New Mutants & regular X-men are all winnners. The only one I'm not feeling is Fallen Angels, which just ended (was a series that got insta-turned into a mini-series, prolly due to quality control).
The most recent issue of Excalibur addresses Gambit & Rouge. Krakoa (and Leech) can both dampen her powers, so she can touch Gambit. But she said she's frightened about her place on the island because she doesn't want kids, and the expectation is that all of the women are going to get pregnant. This makes me think that Hickman is actually studying up on actual modern cult groups and pulling themes from them.
Few other crazy things about the current run:
1) The various characters are totally fine with going on suicide missions. Like they'll be sent on missions where its assumed they'll die.
2) There are no mutant villians anymore (with the exception of Sabertooth). Mystique, Apocalypse, Mr Sinister, Pyro, etc are all part of krakoan society. The former villians seem to be more gung-ho about Xavier's plan than the typical heroes. For instance, Black Tom Cassidy is in charge of island security perimeters and is obsessed with keeping Xavier safe. Pyro is a member of Kitty's mission team. And Apocalypse accompanied Xavier to a UN economic forum wearing a suit and tie (on the island he's switched to wearing Egyptian priest-style clothing and mentoring the young).
3) As a new tactic, Rogue can absorb other mutant's powers to the point of killing them, and its not a big deal. In a recent battle, she absorbed Apocalypse's power to where he died, then he got resurrected and just rejoined the battle.
4) Also, basically every mutant that's ever died in the comics is either back, or on a schedule to be brought back. Everyone from GenX, Banshee, etc. The comics are playing with an insane cast of characters.
5) In a recent X-men issue, Cyclops, Sebastion Shaw, and Emma are sent to stop some eco-terrorists from screwing up Krakoa's flora. One of the terrorists indicates that Emma has an unclean vagina.
Next month is the Xmen/FF mini-series centered around Xavier trying to convince pubescent Franklin to come live on Krakoa. The comic should just be about the FF fighting Franklin because he wants to go to sex island-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I finished House of X and Powers of X. I’m a big fan of Hickman and only planned on continuing reading the main x book that he writes. I read the first 2 issues and it doesn’t seem that great. Not up to Hickman’s usual standards anyway. Maybe ill just wait for the Dawn of X collected edition that has all the other x books in order. Idk though. Might have to drop it.

ok thank you that ties everything together. I wasnt feeling fallen x - i think thats the one where there was a Betsy braddock AND psylocke which mixed me up - but it also didnt seem fun to read. With all the mutants joining together and becoming one big cult like family, would that put them on the outs with the rest of the marvel universe?
For example, wolverine is also an avenger. now that he's a member of sex island and loyal to his beliefs, would that make him a villain again? it is interesting where they could go with this especially since fantastic four already has an issue with sabortooth, they will have even more problems when their son wants to join the seX-men

alright guys...i need someone to chat this up ..i'll rep as much as possible.
I went to the comic book store today to get my stuff and we got talking about DC. Rumor is Dc is about to stop making comic books...as in next month. Has anyone else heard anything like this? The rumor is AT&T was not happy with Dido trying to restart the DC universe again next month, so they fired him. Then put out that the books either make money or they are going to stop making comics all together
so then i look it up on the news and this is the story going around
https://cosmicbook.news/marvel-taking-over-dc-comics
Marvel might take over DC
Thoughts on all this?
