Yes, it should.
I've done the wine and the ice pack. Spiderman is a great idea. That dude can fix everything. True story: When I was little, Spiderman was my imaginary friend and he lived under the dining room table.
I am also a fan of the rum and lime. My current favorite is Bacardi Oakheart.Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

Shoulder is definitely better. It still feels crunchy but only slightly more than usual.
My poor daddy is a mess. He had a stroke about 13 years ago that left him paralyzed on one side and with a whole mess of other issues so there's like 50 different doctors for 50 different problems and they don't seem to communicate with each other at all. It's one of those things were the right hand has no fukking clue what the left hand is doing.Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

Well my mom's surgery went really well. They were done in about half the amount of time they said it'd take. With the kind of surgery she had they kept her over night and had her hooked up to a morphine pump to keep the pain manageable. She said the most painful part is where they took out the lymph nodes in her left armpit. She was asleep from the drugs when I left about 7:00 last night but had been mostly awake after coming out of recovery and was laughing and joking around with us so she seems like she's in really good spirits. The challenge once I get her home is going to be in keeping the cat from jumping on her. The poor kitteh was so confused last night when I came home without my mom. I ended up going in and sleeping in my mom's room because the cat was standing in the middle of the bed meowing and digging in the covers trying to find her. And then she'd come downstairs and jump on my dad's head and meow in his face. She stopped yelling when I came in so I was able to get some sleep at least. She did keep bringing me toys and jumping on my butt periodically, which is what makes me worry that she'll try to jump on my mom.
My sister decided to pull her head out of her ass and help take care of my dad yesterday, coming over here at 6:00 in the morning to make sure he ate food instead of cookies for breakfast and then carted him back and forth to the hospital. And my best friend came down to hang out with me and brought us a huge, extremely delicious veggie lasagna (my sis is a vegetarian) and some meatballs (because my dad thinks you can't have meal if there isn't meat involved). My mom's brother came up from Lexington too which was unexpected and made her very happy.Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

So glad to hear the surgery went well. Had to lol at the kitty Hopefully she will realize your mom is sick/recovering and maybe not jump on her and be too crazy?? I know my cat senses when I'm sick and will cuddle and not be a typical crazy ass cat!

Thanks everyone! She didn't get to come home yesterday because there was some kind of craziness happening on the floor she's on so they didn't get around to getting her off the morphine pump until around 2:30 in the afternoon. The morphine was making her really dizzy still and there are steps she would have to go up to get to the bedroom in this house so they decided to keep her one more night to get the morphine totally out of her system. By the time I left around 7:00 last night she'd been on the tylenol + codeine for a few hours and the morphine had worked it's way out of her system enough to where she could get out of bed and go to the bathroom by herself and then go sit up in a chair. And she said she felt a lot better. So they should release her this morning and I can bring her home. The poor cat is currently wandering around the house looking under all the furniture and meowing at the top of her lungs. She'll be glad to have her favorite human back. She likes me, but she loves my mom.
I also got to deal with a colossal plumbing catastrophe last night caused be years of cat hair going down the upstairs bathtub drain and into the pipes, which are still galvanized pipes from a million years ago because this house is old as fuk and the turds that did the bathroom when my parents remodeled about 20 years ago (seriously. 20.) didn't replace the plumbing under the tub so sh!t like this keeps happening. I literally spent half an hour plunging the drain and sticking needle nose pliers down in to fish out the clods I could fish out. So. Gross. I could have made about 6 cats out of the hair that came up. 8 hours later there is still about a quarter of an inch of water in the tub. If I had a snake, I could snake it, but I don't so I'm going to have to find time to call a plumber today. Fuk. On the upside, plunging totally counts as HIITJournal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

My sister came and stayed with my parents last night so I could go home and chill for a bit. I had every intention of going home, shoving some food in my face, spending a little quality time with Anthony, and going to bed by 10:00pm. That is not what happened. I met him, the young'un, who is home on Spring Break as of yesterday, and some of Anthony's golf buddies at a bar to watch the UK game and eat. We didn't even get home until after 11:00 so it was 1:00am by the time I got to bed. I did sleep like a rock though. Exhaustion will do that. I also went to the gym this morning. I haven't lifted in a week because of the shoulder issue and everything else going on so nothing crazy on the weights but I got in a fun little workout. Kept the weights lot but got in a ton of volume. Yay for Complexes and EMOMs!
Squat Triples:
Warm-up Sets:
Bar x 10
85 x 8
125 x 5
145 x 5
Working Sets:
165 x 3 EMOM for 10 minutes
Snatch DL + Snatch Pull + Snatch:
Warm-up Sets:
Bar
45 x 2
55 x 2
Working Sets:
EMOM for 10 minutes - 60 x 5 sets, 65 x 5 sets
Clean + Front Squat + Jerk:
Warm-up Sets:
65 x 2
75 x 2
85 x 2
Working Sets:
EMOM for 10 minutes - 90 x 5 sets, 95 x 5 sets
The snatch complex went really well. Only had one miss and it wasn't even a total miss, just a power snatch. The clean complex was really good but my legs were lit up by the last two sets. This was really fun though. Got my heart rate up and got some good volume in. The weights were light enough to allow me to really focus on speed under the bar and the EMOM scheme give me enough time to catch my breath but not enough time to think too much so it works really well for me. And I had no issues with my shoulder at all.
And then I went and pounded some Mexican food with Anthony and Andrew and came back to my mom's house. I'll be here until Friday again and then going back home because we have appointments Friday and Saturday to pick out all the stuff that's going to go in our house. I brought my adjustable kettle bell, my resistance bands, and all my mobility crap so my plan this week is to get in some kettle bell stuff for conditioning purposes, probably some bodybuilding type stuff with the bands, and lots and lots of mobility work. If I can get somewhere to actually lift during the week, great, but I'm not counting on it and I'm OK it. I'll probably do a similar workout next weekend to what I did today and then should be able to get back to regular programming the next week.Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

The cat has been driving me nuts. I kicked out of the room I'm sleeping in the other night so she decided to go pee on the floor in my mom's room. And then today she decided to pee on the bed because we had to have a plumber come fix the bathtub upstairs and he made a lot of noise for a long time.

Here's last night's dinner: Pork with red cabbage, apples, and cherries, and roasted garlic mashed cauliflower.
Sorry the picture kind of sucks. It's dark as fuk in my parents house.
And now there is a pixel line in the screen of my laptop that just showed up randomly this morning. I'm hella pissed about this. I haven't even had this thing for 6 months and this is the second major issue it's had. The first one I fixed myself because the technician from HP was a clown and because google is a wonderful, helpful thing. I can't fix this though. I think I'm going to end up having to send this thing in to be replaced. I'm waiting right now for an HP technician to see if there is anyway to fix this beyond getting an entirely new computer because I have a ton of stuff on this one and it's going to be a pain in the ass to have to copy it over to my backup hard drive and then put it on another computer. Not to mention waiting for another computer. I'll have to send this one out and wait for the new one to come. I'm starting to wish I would have spent the extra money and got a Mac.
My mom decided to stop taking the narcotic pain meds cold turkey and is basically going through detox it seems like. She ate some breakfast this morning but has felt really crappy all day and hasn't eaten anything since. I don't know if you can have withdrawal from 2.5 days of constant morphine and then 2.5 days of Percoset every 4 hours, but she's says she feels shaky and randomly nauseous. The surgical sites look fine though and she said the pain is manageable and she's tired of feeling like her head isn't attached to her body.
There's a Snap fitness I found about 20 minutes from here that I'm going to try to hit up tomorrow. My membership gets me into all of them and free is good right now. No idea what equipment they have but something is better than nothing, I need to get out of the house for my sanity's sake (my dad drives me insane with all his religious and political ramblings) and my parents will be fine for an hour or two. I went for a 3 mile walk around my parents neighborhood today. Took me about 40 minutes so I was hauling ass. Planning on smashing everything with my lacrosse ball and then taking a hot bath now that the tub is fixed. And then I'm going to try to convince my mom to drink some ginger tea.Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

Oh man, I'm assuming the docs didn't tell her to all of a sudden cut the pain meds? Seems like a terrible idea. I hope she gets past the crappiness quick!
Farkin laptops, had the same thing happen to mine a yr ago and that dead pixel chit spreads quick. Got a new laptop recently but am still using both due to the huge ordeal it is to slowly switch all my programs and files to the new one. I don't even want to think about what a PITA it'll be to deal with itunes, that is always way harder than it needs to be.Current PRs:

Oh no...hope the cat gets her chit together and stops peeing everywhere! Cats are suck jerks
Hope your mom is recovering ok and that going off the pain meds on her own didn't cause any issues. Those pain meds are some scary stuff!!
Laptops suck!! Sounds like you might have to send it off. That blows! Mac isn't any better. I have one and keep thinking I should go back to PC. But then the thought of transferring everything and trying to get my pictures out if iPhoto to a PC program. Oy vey...forget that! For chits and giggles I looked at a new Mac and to get one similar to what I have now would be almost $3200 That is ridiculous! I will just continue getting aggravated and beat on the keyboard for a few more years! Good luck...hopefully they can get yours fixed pretty quick. My journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=159386641

Yeah, they definitely did not tell her to stop the pain meds cold turkey. But then my mom has always done exactly what she wants to do when she wants to do it so it wouldn't have mattered if they told her not to anyway. And that is certainly a hereditary trait because I'm the same way. She's fine now but it was rough for a couple of days.
I'm pissed as sh!t about the laptop. Every time I look at that stupid pixel line I want to punch someone in the throat. My computer is still under warranty though so I'll be calling HP and telling them to send me a new one pronto. I haven't even had this thing six months
The cat has taken her head out of her ass and isn't peeing on random things anymore. My mom said she thinks it was actually because there was water in the basement and the litter box is in the basement and the cat hates to get her feet wet. So I moved the box temporarily to the basement landing until the floor dries down there and problem solved.
I'm not looking forward to having to transfer everything to the portable hard drive I have but if that's what I have to do, that's what I'll do. This is seriously irritating as hell.
Snap was underwhelming. It's definitely not as awesome as the one I go to. No squat rack, just a smith machine, no oly bar of any variety, so had to make do with a straight curl bar. And I was the only person under 75.Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

Managed to get in a couple of workouts this week. Tuesday I did another 3 mile walk and some upper body stuff with my resistance bands. I forgot how weird those things are but it was a good little workout. Thursday I ventured to the Snap and improvised heavily with the straight curl bar. Lots and lots of hang snatches, which had to be a narrower grip than what I'm used to and the bar is thicker, which made them harder. For C&J, since I didn't have a lot of room and did power jerks, which forced me to focus on not letting my back hyperextend. Here's what I came up with:
Hang Snatch Doubles:
Bar *No idea what it weighs, but probably 25lbs so we'll go with that in my calculations
35
45
55
65 x 5
Hang Clean Doubles + Power Jerk Doubles:
45
65
75
85 x 5
Rowing Double Tabatas:
40 seconds Row, 20 seconds Rest x 8, Resistance at 8
*This kicked my ass.
So yeah, this is the geriatric Snap. Very limited equipment but I made it work and got a pretty good little workout in. Kept rest between sets to about 30 seconds on the working sets so that was fun.
Joel, I'm thinking I'm going to re-run this block I've been doing since it got all farked up with everything that's been going on. I'm also thinking for my next block, I'd like to throw in some Power Jerks because I think it'll help reinforce a straight bar path and it forces me not to hyperextend my back. Let me know what you think.
Anthony and I went to selections for our house yesterday and that was an enlightening experience. If you've never done this before, they nickle and dime you for every fukking thing. So we priced it out with exactly what we want and then came home and decided that we're going to put in our own lighting and faucets because we can do it ourselves for WAY less money and between Menard's, Home Depot, and Lowe's, we have way more options than what they had anyway. So that'll save us about $3k right there. I'm not going to get my white cabinets that I really wanted because that was a $4,400 upgrade, and I like dark cabinets almost as much so it's a compromise I'm perfectly willing to make. I'll see if I can get some pics today of the final stuff. This house is going to be beautifulJournal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

Good, quick little workout this morning. Many, many snatch singles. Many, many C&J singles. And I was really happy with my lifting today.
Snatch:
Bar
45
55 x 3
60 x 2
65 x 3
70 x a helluva lot. They felt light and I definitely could have done more weight but I wanted perfect reps. Focused on keeping the bar close on the second pull and speed, speed, speed on the third. Had two misses out of at least 10 snatches and they were both misses to the back.
C&J
75
85
95 x 3
100 x 3
105 x many. At least 10. Again, I definitely could have done more weight. The first 3 of these were super easy. But again, I wanted perfect reps. The last two jerks were kind of press outs. All of the cleans were great.
So I was super, super happy with this. I need to eat BBQ every Friday night.
Weight is coming down finally after a couple of weeks of looking leaner but the scale not budging. Down to 127.4 today, which is actually more than what it would be if I hadn't eaten about a pound of smoked wings, a pile of baked beans, roasted corn, and then a huge chunk of corn bread for dinnerJournal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431

Great to see you back in training, Melissa.
Yes. By all means it's perfectly okay to restart a training block. Sometimes it's good to take a step back so you can take two steps forward.
Misses to the back are a 'better' miss than the front. This is usually because it means you are at least keeping the bar close.
Keep it up.This above all..

Yeah, one of the misses involved me almost taking my face off I just can't wait to get back to something resembling a consistent schedule, which probably won't happen until next week, but that's better than the current sporadicness.
The way I look at it is that continuing to pile on the weight and just muscleing it up there any old way is reinforcing bad habits and that is not what I want to do because that's a recipe for snap city. I am to old for dat sh!t.
It was incredible. Pics coming upJournal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=163596431
