Is it discrimination that 18 year-olds can't drink in America? srs

I definitely think it is. 18 year-olds can vote, fight in wars, be charged as an adult if they commit a crime. It's like we have different classes of adults. At age 19, you can buy tobacco and age 21 you can buy alcohol. Age 25 you can rent a car. It's all bullchit.

All adults should have the same rights and responsibilities if they face the same consequences. They should be able to drink, smoke, gamble, etc.

Maybe we need a law or equal rights amendment that would guarantee equal protection regardless of the age of the adults.

Used to be able to drink at 18 but the government required states to raise their drinking ages to 21 if they wanted to received federal funding for highways.

I don't think our society can handle 18 year olds drinking

Too much driving and other peer pressures it seems like if you made it legal they would be out of control

In other countries where its 18 people drive a lot less and they are raised that's its okay to have a wine or beer at dinner even at like 14

But the mentality in the states is if you drink as a kid its horrible

Idk its like our society couldnt handle it

It's all the freedom they have. FREEDOM. But not the freedom to have a drink under the age of 21, like most people can do in most other countries. Sounds pretty wank to me.

I never drove when I drank underage,it wasn't until I was over the legal drinking age did I commit to drinking and driving. Most underage drinkers are college kids confined to their universities where they have access to campus transportation. IE buses, and taxis.

It's probably for the best. Going to bars now and seeing 18 year olds who don't know how to behave when drunk pisses me off. I was probably that guy at one point too.

Yes! Similarly it's discrimination that police can shoot and kill people and I cannot. Also that I can't drive battletanks like military personell does. Where's the freedom anymore?

You can do that if you become a policeman or enlist in the military. Age is not the sole determining factor.

Letting kids drink earlier discourages adults from getting blackout drunk.

In Europe people are allowed to drink from very early ages so they figure out what their tolerances are.

Just plain dumb having such a high drinking age.

I wouldn't join the military with such a phaggot government. You can fight for them and die for them, but they won't even allow you to have such a small freedom as drinking. just lol, why would anyone want support/fight for such stupidity?

edit: More laws isn't the solution. Less laws is what you want.

Just plain dumb having such a high drinking age.

Underage kids are gonna drink anyway. They binge drink more because its something they are not supposed to be doing so it becomes "cool". There could still be 21+ bars its just up to the bar owner to decide who to cater to.

This we put drinking on a pedestal making it to be out this great thing so people either do it under age or go full blown retard at 21.

Underage drinking results in more Minor in possession/consumptions charges which equals more money for the power at be. Its all in the name of "safety", but really like most traffic tickets its just a scam on the people of the "free" USA.

This, so many underage phaggots do drugs and drink because they think it's cool since it's illegal. It's like the forbidden fruit. It being illegal along with drugs just makes people want it more.

Drinking before I turnd 21 was a lot more fun. Trying to find someone to buy beer. Trying to find a party. Hiding your case. Sneaking back home hammered. Good times

It's somewhat of a double edge sword. One one hand I agree if you are old enough to fight in war for your country then you should be able to legally have alcohol.

On the other hand at 18 "most" guys are physically capable of joining the service but just your random 18 year old outta HS isn't mature enough to drink responsibly.

Joining the military is followed by extensive training, if when people turned 18 they had to go through "alcohol bootcamp" then it'd be another story. Hell, a lot of people can't drink responsibly their whole lives.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.
Makes me feel eternal, all this Pain is an Illusion.
