Getting started with food challenges at home

Hey guys, I've been watching furious pete's videos on youtube for a while now and they're just so awesome (if you don't know him, check him out...I guess most of you do tho). Even if I'm quite small, I know that I am truly able to eat crazy amounts of food without feeling satisfied and I was thinking about posting some videos on youtube as well and try to challenge myself (not Pete of course lol) because here in Italy food challenges in restaurant don't even exist. The thing is...what would be a good way to start? I wanted to go to a place in my city where they make giant pizzas but I thought that since Idk how my stomach will react, it's better to do something at home first. My two big weaknesses are pizzas and icecream but I really got no idea how to begin. How many pizzas would be an incredible number for someone who's my size? 3-4? I got no idea lol...
Reps for help and ideas! Ah, tips for how to "prepare" my stomach before an eventual challenge are accepted too (what to eat, drink etc...)

Thnks for the names! I know Matt Stonie, I think I've watched his 12,000 cal challenge (phelps) and something like "the sweetest challenge". Also saw something from LA beast, but I'll check Shoe Nice as well, never heard of him!

I agree with testing at home. I'd suggest starting with something you LOVE. Something you can picture yourself eating for days. You don't want to quit because you just get bored with the food.

Yep thats why I was thinking of ice cream (ben and Jerry's probably) or pizza. They're my two weaknesses and I could eat them all day. The thing is...I really don't know how to start to "impress" people.

In one sitting? I think I ate 750 gr...but I was like 12 years old when I used to do it (a few times a week actually). I've really never tried stuffing myself with icecream so I don't know...that's why I would like to do this lol

There is a competitive eating thread as snorkelman mentioned, it's on the 1st page in the Nut Misc section.

Also there's more to consider than just satiety when doing challenges. For ice cream specifically, is it going to be a timed challenge, or just pure quantity? Ice cream is cold (it's almost as cold as ice... buh dum tsh), which makes it more difficult to eat plenty of it in a short period of time. Also depending on the ice cream you choose, the sugar content can be an issue (even though they're all high in sugar, some more so than others). Blood sugar imbalances can make the challenge more difficult as well; dizziness, heart racing, headache (reminds me of LA Beasts 60 Reese Cup challenge).

Also if you plan on getting anything on film, aim for 1 continuous shot. Not to bash Furious Pete or anyone else, but it adds a lot more credibility when it's one continuous shot, speeding through parts, rather than stopping and starting. (eg. 2:40 in the Furious Pete Quest Bar video...not doubting that he completed the challenge, but look at the amount on his plate before and after that point). But that's more about nitpicking, the equivalent to letting the bar touch your chest vs. being <1 inch above for a bench lift to 'count'.

Yes I just posted in the thread. Regarding the quantity/time I was thinking about it right now. I also thought about the icecream problem in case I go for speed. The first idea was quantity, but it seems like timed stuff is more interesting...I don't know. Thanks for the tips on the video: I agree with you on that. Filming properly is important

Was actually curious in general. Was challenged myself to eat a gallon of ice cream just as I was coming off 16 hour fast, but ddidnot think that would be the best use of a full days worth of calories.

3/QTS in one sitting is impressive.

No it's primarily because of your ED history, didn't you say you were planning on seeing someone?

I actually didn't. I got over my problems by myself. Flexible dieting has helped a lot. I admit I had a bad relationship with food but i don't think it was a real ED because it takes much more tome to recover IMO. It's been easy for me...I was just a little too obsessed (but it happens to me in everything I do, not just food). But since I did have some problems I will consider your honest opinion

Before someone attacks me I would like to add that this is MY OPINION, not the truth. But I have a person who had a serious ED in my family (a very different problem) and it took this person years to start getting over it. I've never had issues with food in my life until last year and even if my relationship with it was really bad, I can say that it is mostly due to the false information that's found nowadays on the internet and the simple fear of ruining a progress that took me a lot of time. Again, if you don't agree I respect your opinion but anyways....I will look into this food challenge thing and if I'll do one I promise I will post in the section dedicated to food challenges. Thanks again for support and ideas, if you have more....feel free to write them down!!

    In prepping for eating challenges;

    1. Drink lots and lots of water
    2. Practice my timing yourself in eating a mountain of a low-cal veggies (broccoli, spinich etc). It will help in widing the stomach, thne subtracting again.

This is what the 'pros' have done in allowing their bodys to handle crazy amounts of food.

I would also recommend a guy called Randy Santel. He has a website about eating challenges and fitness related articles. He also talks about prepping for challenges. The website is www.randysantel.com, and he is on youtube too.
