There are better, but not at the price of the Legend Fitness Select Edge.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Check out the list in best of the best thread. In each type of machine they have top and several mentions. I'd tell you but I don't recall. Honestly I own a cheaper legend plate loaded. I like plate loaded as it's easier to move the machine around and not damage it or the rods. Plus Legend is strong so you can load the hell out of it. You'll need a 300lbs stack if you are even decently strong so keep that in mind as well.

Thank you for your input. That is where I started my research, but the majority of lat pulldowns they recommend in that thread are more like the hammer strength version lat pulldowns. Like the hammer strength high pull, but the panatta versions. They do mention the atlantis lat pulldown machine, but when I was looking at it(atlantis d438), it seems like the low row is extremely high and would be more of a brachialis/bicep workout then a true low row.
How do you like the legend and doing low rows off the floor? I have heard some people say that its hard to get a good stretch on your lats with those types of machines because the cable is so low, but I never tried one myself.

I have a Legend plate loaded pulldown/row that I love but honestly I hardly use the row as I generally do barbell rows if I'm going to do that. MAG wide and medium suppinate are my standards on pulldowns. Love the pulldown. I don't recall it being difficult for rows, you sit on the floor so my model isn't luzurious. I may try not -pull/back day. I'll post back when I do. I know I added an extra carabiner as I'm tall and it was a real stretch to get a few of my handles. Haven't tried in years - will post back. Gives me some motivation.

Picked these up a long time ago but never uploaded. The pulldown/row plate loaded combo and the standing leg curl. The salesperson was really trying to get me to go with the SelectEdge or weight stack for the pulldown. Honestly don't think it was him trying to upsell me but an honest belief those were better pieces of equipment. Very happy with the pull down/row combo. Just prior to purchasing realized a few of the pictures showed it as one solid welded unit and others were bolt together. Initially was disappointed they switched to a bolt-together unit (the seat section forward is separate) however realized when moving it into place, there was zero chance if it was a single piece I could have gotten it positioned. Had to go across the barn and there are a lot of fixed obstacles.

I added some UHMW where the cable attachments would hit the upright and near the foot pedals for the low row. Machine works very well and nothing unique about it. Well made and plenty of ROM. Had a powerline pulldown/row and it was way too short. No overhead stretch.

The leg curl I'm less enthused about it. It serves it's purpose but feels limiting. Saw a couple of comments here saying near the top of the motion the ankle piece would swing back and you'd lose tension. Definitely the case. It's still good for about 90% of the way but not perfect. Actually wasn't even going to get it but overall it worked out with shipping costs and a discount for reaching a certain amount that it wasn't too much of a hit. Happy to have it available and it's a good way to hit the legs near the end of routine.

I have the same plate loaded Pulldown/Row. Mine is older and welded - crazy large and was happy I could get it in the basement gym as some in my community down have outer basement doors. It's rock solid as any commercial unit I've used and can handle a ton of weight (I haven't had 300 on there but well into 200s). Easier to move without stack too. Gets a ton of use. Squatting today though.

Can't image getting it down a flight of stairs unless you mean a daylight basement with a walkout door. Even then, had to be a tight angled fit.

The trolley being 30lbs helps out when adding attachments to the top pulley. Older pulldown I had if I didn't put plates on it, would fall with some of the heavy things. You have no clue how many times I clipped on the Elite FTS multigrip and had that fall on me.

Thanks. Legend has some really nice pad colors. I don't really have a theme/constant color out there (pretty sure your gym is really consistent if I'm remembering correctly).
