Pull ups are the worst! The diff between my first and second set is about 50% less reps on the second set. With that said, this is a really cool challenge (first time I'm seeing this type of challenge and first exposure to the song, yes, I'm new here) and I want to try it soon. Good job MM on keeping the lead.

in4 two year bump. So far you're pretty much the only man with a real shot at beating this. Have you tried this on an actual pullup bar yet? I'm still trying to improve on this but I only try this challenge once ever week or two since the recovery time from it was starting to interfere with my regular training.
I saw this posted on the misc earlier. Is this you? I so plz teach me your secrets lol.

Give it a try, there is no failure in attempting this challenge as long as you progress in the right direction. And thanks, though right now someone could pull ahead of me since my training is focusing on gaining size not endurance right now.
I'm subbed to this thread so it doesn't matter when you post, could be a year from now and i'd still be aware. There is no limit to this competition. We're all waiting for someone to do it.
Nah, someone else will get it first probably. I haven't trained for this challenge at all since returning to gym, just been focusing on gaining back muscle mass. If someone pulls ahead of me i'll have to get back in the groove tho

that's my dilemma, I've been slowly bulking up lately and my strength is going up which is nice. But this type of exercise benefits those who weigh less and have less fat.
so If I gain too much, I won't get a good time on these pullups lol. I want to bulk up so I can get stronger (I need 10 more lbs to get 315 bench clean) but at the same time I want to keep improving my time doing these pullups.
We'll see, I guess the bulk can wait till winter or smth

All song is 3:29 and you are in 2:04, this is 1:25 of difference. I don't know if it's really impossible or there is any chance. Of course if there is any way to do it it must require a lot of specialization job. Do you think some of that calisthenic gurus could do this? What kind of training do you do?

I don't know, there might be a few of them that could do it after a 2-4 weeks of training but I don't think they could do it first try.
I'm just doing regular bodybuilding routine at the gym right now trying to put on size.
When I was doing this challenge I was doing pull ups 3x a week with things like sets of 50 reps in 5 minutes or less, sets of 100 reps in 10 minutes or less, or just 5 sets of 20 reps.
To really challenge this I would drop most other body-parts and solely focus on pullups and grip strength (hangs), I'll probably start trying to beat this thing in the new year.

lol I've seen that vid, boulderers are crazy strong, especially with their grip strength, but I'm not sure they could deal with the pump since they don't do high rep flexing and extending of the arms. Lots of their work is arms mostly extended and difficult grips with a few power moves involved. Also, even on short boulder courses you will often see them take breaks and shake off their arms.
That being said, I do agree that they would probably be able to do this with minimal training and that the grip strength wouldn't be an issue for them.

I don't think so, I tried to find a vid but nobody does it for pull ups in reverse order
I've been finishing all my workouts with hangs to deal with the grip aspect of the song. When I start trying to attempt this again in 2015 grip won't be an issue! I hanged for 4 minutes 8 seconds but I often hung with only one arm to give the other a rest so it is easier than hanging with 2 arms the whole time.
