...after losing lawsuit.
A family owned bakery has been ordered to make wedding cakes for gay couples and guarantee that its staff be given comprehensive training on Colorado’s anti-discrimination laws after the state’s Civil Rights Commission determined the Christian baker violated the law by refusing to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, in Lakewood, Colorado was directed to change his store policies immediately and force his staff to attend the training sessions. For the next two years, Phillips will also be required to submit quarterly reports to the commission to confirm that he has not turned away customers based on their sexual orientation
Think of it as reverse conversion therapy (or straight man’s rehab) so that the state can mandate diversity through conformity.
The plight of Jack Phillips and his family is something I write about in my new book, “God Less America.” His story of religious persecution is one of many that I document.
Nicolle Martin, an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom, called the ruling Orwellian and said they are considering an appeal.
“They are turning people of faith into religious refugees,” Martin told me. “Is this the society that we want to live in – where people of faith are driven out of business?”

ridiculous. There has to be some violation of their rights here regarding religious freedom. I'm sure they would turn down a satanist cake as well because of their beliefs. Dumb ass courts can't discern between religious beliefs and discrimination.

he actually has refused though he stopped making cakes and his business is booming on other sales. He should have a catalog of cake options that only have traditional designs (man/woman) and allow no customization. Can't force a baker to make something that's not on the menu/list

So people should only be allowed to discriminate in their own business, with their own life, with who they choose to trade with if its for religious reasons?
There is no argument against banning discrimination in private business that is consistent with claiming to be for personal liberty without resorting to arbitrary distinctions. Most people agree that if someone owned a property for anything except commercial use, they can do whatever they want, including posting no blacks, gays, women, etc allowed. But the moment they decide to say "hey, Im going to let people come in and trade with me", suddenly they should be denied freedom to conduct their trade affairs, that don't affect anyone else, with the only rationale being the entirely arbitrary "well, since its a public business it's different".
