What are your thoughts on Rye bread? I'm trying to get lean now after cutting bread (except rye) from diet. My only carbs come from porridge, rye bread, brown rice and pasta. I might cut rye due to its salt content (trying to cut water weight), What are your views on rye?

I like it with some things. But yea, you're arbitrarily cutting out all bread, but rye, it's pointless (unless you only like the taste or rye).

I think it's delicious. That said, there is no reason to cut other breads if you enjoy them. Bread, especially white, gets a lot of hate for no good reason. Yes it can be a little short on micronutrients due to the processing but a sandwich with a quality protein source and topped with plenty of delicious veggies is a great meal and convenient. People like to find foods to place blame on but it's your diet as a whole that determines progress.

across the board cutting of most foods is pointless as others have mentioned (aside from things like potato chips or soda since they are high calorie but have little to no real nutritional value, but even then an across the board removal of a food is a preference). I have been cutting at 1800, and still have a sandwich at work at lunch. bread itself isnt bad, its just when it tips you up over your calories.
Personally, I love the taste of a good rye bread.
