Even Ivanko did it with their colored revolvers, which makes no sense seeing as they make bumpers and competition plates that all use the standard colors, so they aren't even consistent with their own products.

Taking it a bit further for change plates:

    White: 5kg
    Blue: 2k
    Yellow: 1.5kg
    Green: 1kg
    White: 0.5kg
That's an interesting point (above) and raises some questions for historians of the sport. One should note: color "standard" has changed a few times in the 20th-c. (e.g. 10 kilo from black to green for some organizations -- 50 kilo was green at some point -- not to mention gold plates). Very broadly speaking, what is considered "standard" sometimes comes from an organization (and sometimes is preceded by tradition), but has also been determined (to some extent or another) by manufacturers. For a variety of reasons (sometimes mordita to the organization) or through collaboration (in the neutral sense) with that organization. Finally, by geography. And of course sometimes geography dictates whether it's kilos or pounds (and before that there's even a history of different systems of measurement before kilos took effect -- e.g. Germany, France, Russia). Finally, the sort of false equivalence of standards for pounds and kilos (i.e. making the 55 red to "match" the 25 kilo plate). Not to mention that there were various sizes plates up through the past 100 years in imperial: both the 45 and the 50. And there were advocates on both sides. And that's just plates. Bars is a whole other story.

Having said that, of those countries using pounds (or formerly using pounds), can anyone point to a particular specification and the year that specification was written to designate color for plates in pounds?

Was searching for a set of adjustable dumbbells for a year in my home area (Pittsburgh). Only a marginal set or even single dumbbell of Powerblocks. Finally a 130lbs Powerblock and stand set comes up - I buy. Literally a few weeks later a full set of Ironmasters to 125. None of these were priced well but decently off retail and available. Feast of famine apparently.

Did you get both? That way you can try both for awhile then sell the set you like least? I really like my PBs but if Ironmasters came up on CL at a decent price I would probably get them just so I could definitively know which set I liked better. Or keep them both and use the Ironmasters for higher numbers so I don't have to worry if I have to drop one.

If I didn't have my 5-100 rubber hexes, I would take ironmaster dumbells all day over powerblocks. For reasons such as cwcmac state, you can drop ironman terms at heavier weight.

Curious to know what brand that is? Looks somewhat like what Dom got. Maybe an older style?

I believe I know where that rack came from, as I bought some stuff from the same auction. Iirc, that rack is all welded, and heavy as a mofo.

All those high end machines and weights and not one power rack? Lol honestly thats a very very...and shall I mention very hard find, to see a matching set of the same brand/upholstery and frame color, let alone them being in what looks like pristine condition.

yeah. pretty great find for someone serious about lifting with that kind of cash to spare. or if someone wanted to start a gym it'd be a fantastic start.

Or keep them both and use the Ironmasters for higher numbers so I don't have to worry if I have to drop one.
I did think about it (and I looked at them 3 times now so some internal battle and they just got pulled so someone got them) but honestly I'm loving the PBs. I'm a barbell guy at heart so these make some extra assistance work fast/easy. They've transformed my assistance work as I've dropped the barbell for some of it due to time pressure. I don't drop dumbbells routinely so no issue there and they are also for my kids to use so I value the easy swap.

If the price was "wow" I'd do it and maybe eventually I'll play with them but I have zero desire after the PBs. Very happy with them and speed.

Is this lat machine a good buy?

Hello seller has a Paramount 700 LAT machine for $125. He is not the original owner. He bought it from a gym that was replacing their equipment a few years ago. Weight stack is 200lb.he said he not too long replaced the cables. One of the rollers has a pretty bad tear.

Yeah, you better go get it. That's a pretty cheap price. A new roller is probably 40 dollars. Just make sure you have room to set that lat pull up.

Looks like a nice machine, especially for that price, if you have the real estate.

In my area easily a 500+ dollar item.

You should've emailed setup a time a couple hours from when he contacts you. Then ask on here, if we say no, you could've told him you don't have a truck or it doesn't fit your space. If we say yes, you would've been a lucky man.

That is a pretty old machine. I have a cable cross from that same time frame. It should have larger diameter rods than newer equipment. They were made well back then.

Thanks for the advice. Will definitely do that going forward.

I will see the machine on Craigslist being resold by one of the same few sellers for much more.

How do I get instant alerts on these items? I don't have the time to watch Craigslist all day

Best advice have money, a truck, and time available whenever you see something on craigslist.

You could try craigslist pro on the smartphone but never really works. You just have to scout craigslist all day everyday, lol

Yeah I have lost a few good deals because I don't have the time or a vehicle to move the equipment. Normally I got to tell the seller I can pick up on weekend when I can get someone to let me borrow a truck. That has not worked for me most of the times since the seller wants to get rid of the equipment quickly.
