Thanks, all valid points. The price is excellent and I am very tempted but considering the footprint, think I'm going to pass. If any of you are interested, it's in the Washington State area. I just picked up a Parabody plate loaded Lat Pulldown Low Row machine (model 827) today for 50 bucks and my gym area is already sort of tight.
I have noticed that recently I've been spending more time looking for random equipment to buy than actually working out. I'm hoping that some of you can relate

Just scored this today. 1 1/2 driving time total/45 mins one way. Under $200 for everything. 420 lb of plates, a weight tree, one 2inch barbell, three 1inch barbells with some weights on them, 1 ez curl bar, extremely heavy duty flat bench that I have no idea of brand and it doesn't have any marking anywhere on it (I'm keeping this thing!), a CALGYM dumbbell rack, and a 1inch barbell holder that holds 4 barbells. http://imgur.com/a/nuig4
Going back tomorrow to buy this... http://imgur.com/Y2JTs9T for $75. <-- Is that a hammer strength incline press machine?

Probably an older model vertical bench press. Maybe even a decline bench press. Definitely not an incline bench though (note the location and angle of the rubber stop blocks). I'm not positive that it is Hammer Strength. It could be a Hammer knockoff. The curved movement arm is different from current Hammer designs. A good deal no matter what the brand.

I just zoomed up in a pic that the person sent me and it is hammer strength. As you said I think it is an older model. How much are these worth? I know that you see them in commercial gyms all the time.

Whats your opinion on buying commercial gym equipment? I have a couple questions and concerns. I know there is more money to be made but I don't know how easy it'd be to sell big pieces of equipment. I've sold barbells, plates, dumbbells, etc. but how often do people drop $500, $600 on one single piece of equipment like a dumbbell rack or a bench press machine? For the most part the people picking up the dumbbells, etc. are only spending $100, $200 on a few sets of dumbbells or some plates. and if they use it for a couple weeks and it sits in their garage after that, collecting dust it's not a huge lose. Their is a larger market of people just wanting to buy some dumbbells than someone wanting to buy a leg press for $800.
Like the CALGYM dumbbell rack I have in the picture. Would it be hard to sell for $400 after I spend the hour or so removing all the rust and making it look nice or should I just put it on there as is for $200.

if you want to make more money, it will require more investment of time and money. this is true for just about everything, btw, not just flipping equipment.
commercial equipment can be resold but you need to know your customers and how deep their pockets are. you have to know your market and how much stuff comes available and how much it sells for.
i have a regular customer who flips junk they buy in cheap storage lockers. for awhile they were doing it as a main source of income and while it was fun, at times, most of the time it's a grind (again, like many jobs).
you need more space for commercial equipment, especially if you want to be patient and get top dollar. you will need, generally, a larger vehicle, and i would imagine you would want to spend more time to clean up and repaint the stuff so that justify pricing it well.
ask yourself if you have a spare hour to clean the rust and if you think it's worth potentially making an extra $200.Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

Yeah you're right. I've just recently started doing it. I've always been somewhat of a merchant. Just never have before with weights and gym equipment. Sometimes stuff sits for weeks at a time. I've never had a returning customer. I just put my merchandise on a few different local buy/sell websites. (I wonder if anyone I've bought stuff from has noticed their old stuff on their the next day. lol) I guess I'll see where it takes me. Appreciate your input man. Thanks.

No one will pay $500-600 for a dumbbell rack. And if you mean a commercial flat bench, no one will pay anywhere close to that either.
I think it would be very hard to get $100 for that, let alone $200 or $400. It's a very odd design, I've never heard of the brand, etc. I just sold a pretty good shape ProMaxima commercial dumbbell rack with all saddles for $150. Maybe I could've held out for $175, but I don't think I could've got $200. Unless it's something like a 3-tier maxicam or something else really desirable, it's hard to get over $200 for a commercial dumbbell rack with saddles. I got $275 for a Hammer Strength DB rack, but people love HS.
My first advice is to figure out what $ these kind of items sell for. No offense, but it sounds like you are way overestimating what you could sell these things for...and could be making some very unprofitable purchases.Garage Gym Owner

You're market in you're area or for most places might agree with this. But I've sold Cybex, Icarian, and HS Dumbbell rack for $400-$450 in my area, sure they take a few weeks to a month or so. But people do pay for them. Maxicam and other non "gym" quality pieces ( and I quoted gym, because although they may be commercial, but you very hardly ever see that brand in a gym setting or mentioned) So thats where most Premiums or pieces from these brands go away. Of course there are some not well known brands where pieces are desired.

Is it just me or are there far more Maxicam db racks out there than than other Maxicam equipment such as benches?

Helpful info. Someone is asking 500 for a sorinex 10 pair dumbbell rack with a lower shelf for kettles, down from 600. Looks like quality equipment, I think at a big discount vs new. I'm thinking I might need some more dumbbell storage and this would be less than a new legend rack.
I quote with pics. ()---() York Barbell Club #78 (DD) ()---()

InFlight adjustable bench. $400. Ive never heard of this brand, but any pics ive found of their stuff are in corporate gyms or other commercial settings. the bench weighs 94 lbs.
anyone familiar with their stuff. If i could get them down to $300 i could be tempted to take a chance on it vs the rogue 2.0 for over $600.

In Flight is mainly light commercial, and Ive never seen anything of theirs thats caught my attention. I would definitely not pay 300 bucks for that bench. I personally would not buy it at all, but Id tell someone else not to spend over 100 on it. There are lots of good benches that pop up and can be had for less than 300 bucks.
