definitely too high, and even at half the asking price it's too much for what i need ATM, though it'd be sexy as hell to grab them.
someone was nice enough to share a link to some revolvers to me also, but 6 hour round trip is a little too far for how busy i am lately
when i have the cash and the time, no finds. tight on cash and time = they start popping upDomicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

Hey all, looking to purchase some equipment to be able to work out from home. Far from an expert and will be lifting relatively light to start off. I saw this set on CL, any thoughts on price/quality?
Apparently I can't post any pictures or links, but here's a description from the ad:
Body Solid Fitness Equipment great for serious muscle man. This awesome set up has adjustable safety rack, peck deck, lateral pull down bar, rows, and adjustable bench. It comes with heavy duty rubber floor mat. Weight bar is 45-pound Olympic collars and separate ez-curl bar with locks.
Weight included 2 x 45 pound plates, 2 x 35 pound plates, 2 x 25 pound plates, 2 x 10 pound plates,
4 x 5 pound plates, 2 x 2-1/2 pound plates. Also comes with 135 pound assorted weight plates for lat machine and peck deck.
He's asking $325 for everything, and from the pics it looks to be in good shape.
Thanks in advance!

I want to buy a selectorized lat pull down and dip station. I see "multi-purpose" machines like this all the time on craigslist which have both and are usually very cheap. Is there a downside to buying something like this instead of buying them separately?

Don't do it!
Those machines are not made very well, and they generally have a lousy range of motion. The movement tends to be jerky at the start, which I find to be hard on the joints. The dip stand usually won't hold a lot of weight, and the weight stacks are often on the light side, so you often max out the stack quickly for the big compound movements like chest press and lat pulldown. You can't get rid of them because nobody wants them.
You are much better off getting stand-alone machines--the action will be a lot smoother and you can load up more weight (or find models with 200-300 lb stacks). THey will often fit your garage/basement/whatever space a little better because you can configure individual components more easily. THere are junky stand-alone machines out there (avoid anything by Weider or Marcy), but you can find nice home-use models easily, and it isn't too hard to find commercial pieces.
If you are hell-bent on getting one of those all-in-one machines, look on Craigslist for a free one, so that the only money you will lose will be to rent a truck to haul it to the dump eventually.[]---[] Ivanko Barbell Crew #29 []---[]

Anyone have any idea what bench this is?
Might not be bad for $75.

Looks to be a second gen bench with a custom pad. The pads that originally came with those sucked. If this one is nice and firm it would be a decent buy.
I'm one of the ones praising the first gen bench, they were full welded, nice firm molded pad, and made in USA. I'm still tempted to get another one every time one pops up.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 21

Hmm. So is it likely this dip station won't for me? I was planning to go pick it up today, but now I'm not so sure. Like I said, it's roughly 4.5', I'm 6'1" and the basement is 7' but its unfinished, so there is a bit of space between the joists, but not a ton obviously.
