The last thread got up over 10,000 posts with too many people asking if they should pick up the bowflex down the street, so it's time to start a new one.
Let's all keep our eyes open for the shake weights for .20/lb, strap on our Chucks, and speed away on our unicycles for those sweet pick ups.
Newbies and regulars alike, post here for advice on what you should or should not scoop up. Just keep in mind that if you post a link to an ad, someone might scoop it up before you!

Is $200 a good price for weights and bench? No photo since I don't have enough posts yet.

Should I buy a weider all in one home gym? It can do so much and has weight stacks up to 100lbs.
It's a really good deal. The seller originally paid 899 for it and he's selling it for 899 without tax.

Can I get shredded abs with a standard bar? There's one on my Craigslist and the guy told me it got him shredded as hell. Also is 60 lbs of standard plates enough to get me shredded up? He only wants $100 and I think that's worth it to get shredded by prom.
Also is rollerblading enough cardio or should I start Zumba with my friend Mauricio on Tuesdays?()---() York Barbell Club #54 ()---()

Standard bar is passable if all you are going to do is movements where the bar moves slowly. If you plan to do any Olympic style lifting moves (power cleans, power snatches, and regular cleans, or, snatches) the standard bar is worthless, because the sleeves can't spin, and the bar starts hurting your wrists. The Olympic bar however has a much better balanced way to load it up. You haven't realized this yet, because you are only working with light weights. To load up a 50 pound plate on a standard bar in a rack is ridiculously hard compared to the Olympic bar. I would highly recommend that you sell off the 60 lb of standard plates and bar, and put that money and a bit more towards getting a used Olympic set. $100 for 60 lb of standard weights is a rip off. For $150 you can get a used cap barbell quality 300 lb Olympic set in decent condition, as the new one is only $250 in the stores.

Is Kijiji "Craigslist" enough for you? Or does it have to be literally Craigslist?

The Poliquin Institute gym in Rhode Island had some nice conditioned Atlantis machines for sale at pretty good prices not long ago. Not sure if any are left.

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I believe some on here use "Search Tempest Online" (like a Craigslist finder).
I'd be interested in knowing what key word searches you all use to help in your search. Hard to explain, because obviously if you're looking for dumbbells, you would type that in. But, do you all also try searching on mistyped words such as "dumbells" or " dumb bells"?
