Thumbs up Body Fat % Estimate thread PTII (post here only)

    Pt I here- http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=147321393

We have a few members who are kind enough to offer their time giving estimates to others. If you are looking to find out what your BF% is at post in here. Remember that this is just guessing. Even using calipers, Dexa, BF scales, hydrostatic etc, is not a guarantee as there is always a margin of error from even the best. There are many other methods to measure progress and changes that are great to track as well. Remember that while losing BF is a great thing for health, a good base of LBM makes a world of difference in how you look as you reduce your BF%.

For best accuracy post your height and weight.
Best pictures are a front, side, and back pose and in a relaxed (unflexed) position.

    a couple of comparison pictures

Can I please get some opinion on what body fat percentage I am based on appearance. Trying to verify the accuracy of my calipers and I think my personal judgement is clouded. I'm 6'6" 257lbs.

Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

Thanks. I was thinking I was 17 -18. Does anyone think me losing 6 more pounds would be too much? That would put my estimation at 13 percent which is where I wanted to go down to.

Thanks for this thread. This community is unbelievably helpful. I am attaching some pics that I managed to take myself using the webcam. Please ignore the hair for now :P. P.S - I am 6 feet tall and weigh 170 pounds. My lower body is pretty muscular. Just the upper body and belly which is creating a problem.

    DL 305 lbs 1x5
    BP 170 lbs 3x5

I want to keep cutting until ~11% bf so I can lean bulk for a while. I'd rather be small and lean, than bigger/stronger. Think this is a reasonable goal? Thoughts on how much more weight I might have to lose to reach it?

    Thanks.

Possibly. You don't have a lot of lean mass, so you'll look pretty small at 11%. If that's the look you're shooting for, then go for it.

Honestly, I don't think so. You could use more lean mass on your torso, especially chest (from what I can tell). Not sure how your legs look, though.

I think I've always struggled for my chest to look full because my frame is so large. Here are the legs.

Not bad. You've got a good base to work with. Your legs should look ok as you get leaner. You might want to do some more calf work, though. Your thighs won't get too much more defined until you're well below 15%.

Btw, when I say look big at 15, I don't mean body builder, I mean more like an actor who is cut up for a role. Hugh jackman, thor, something like that.

Yeah, you're nowhere near something like that. Those guys have serious lean mass. It's attainable, but it will take a long time to get there.

Yeah I know. I think I've gotta get lean first so I can get a good idea of exactly where I am first. This is the first time I've ever paid attention to what I'm eating.

    No way I'm 12-14. I thought I was more like 17-20.

I don't see you being above 14-15. Definitely not 20%. You may have gyno, not sure.

Can I please get some opinions on BF%? Do I have enough mass to go on a serious cut at this point? How would I look with this mass at around 14-15%?

Last pic (the real chubby one) is September..Curios as to what my BF% was before I lost all the weight.

5'11 195 lbs. In the last pic I was about 240lbs.

25%+ before the weight loss. You're not far off from 15% now. Maybe 18% or so. You'll look smaller at 15%. Will you look good? It's pretty subjective. What are you shooting for?

i dont think i have gyno. i think thats mostly my weird body composition...and fat. i had a real bad case of pectus excavatum. i had surgery on it but my body composition is still abnormal. my rib cage does not come out as much as most peoples and my bottom ribs flare out. this makes my pecs/chest look bigger, but also my gut more pronounced.

i still think im at least 17%. i have a lot of fat in the love handles area and pretty much no vascularity. and while flexing i barely get my top abs to show.
here's another side pic that further illustrates my odd body composition.
