    Contest prep weight gain

    I've currently been in contest prep for about 3 weeks. Eating exactly what's on the plan along with 1.5 hours of cardio . Lifting weights 5-6 days a week. Why am I gaining weight?? I'm so upset about this... I eat barely anything and run run run to gain weight ? This past week I've gain 5lbs. Insights??

    Cardio should be a late addition to contest prep once you are at a caloric level where performance might be compromised.




    In saying that, if you're doing the cardio to offset you eating more and for CV health, go ahead.

    Eat less or up the cardio. Yeah, 1.5 hours might be a lot for some...apparently not for you. Also, you said you barely eat anything....FIX YOUR DIET. Not eating is not a good way to prep for a contest <<<Scratch that...ANYTHING.

    ^^^^ never listen to someone who suggests you do more than 90 minutes of cardio a day. You're already going overboard with 90 minutes. Again, your diet should diet you down, cardio only added towards the end
