Does anyone know a site or anyone who is selling dumbbells for cheap/discounted? I'm looking to purchase sets between 40 and 100lbs.

No, at least not on the webz, where shipping cost alone can be a buzz-kill.
Look around locally, both in your classified ads, craigslist (as already advised), and local suppliers. Occasionally, a yard or garage sale can offer a bargain, but you'll have to actively seek it out; it won't come knocking on your front door.No brain, no gain.
You can't out-train bad nutrition.
Where the mind goes, the body follows.

For a sets from 40 lbs - 100 lbs (10 lb intervals) I wouldn't mind spending ~$400ish. Higher or lower, give or take. I've checked Craig's List, didn't really find anything. Checked online shopping, found dumbbells from sold all together from 5 lbs - 40 lbs, but nothing higher that were sold all together. I'm going around to a few pawn shops tomorrow, also gonna go around to a few gyms around town to see if they'd be willing to part with extra weights.

Has anyone used the Bowflex dumbbells you always see advertised? How you turn a switch or whatever and it changes the weight? Are those worth the cost?
And personally I don't really mind what kind of dumbbell. As long as I'm getting the weight I want, it could be old adjustable dumbbells for all I care. I'm looking to toss the next couple paychecks into equipment. Got 2 benches but I need a new one that can hold a 45 lb barbell. Looking to get a simple squat rack down the road. Going out to Walmart when I get my next paycheck to pick up some plates. Gold's Gym plates are pretty cheap.

For the heavier dumbbells, which you may not see for sale too often, consider buying just the handles and adding weight plates that you purchase. If you repeatedly come across 40 or 50lb dumbbells it might be worth your while to grab a few different ones and just move the plates around. Assuming you're looking for pro-style dumbbells and not hex.

I prefer hex, not for any specific reason, it's just what I've been lifting with for the past few years, but I'll probably lean towards the adjustable dumbbells (which is what I'm assuming your referring to). I think I have one or two sitting around in my basement, I just need to get the weight plates.

$910 is .50/lb. 40-100. I once picked up 5-100 prostyle Ivankos with 2 racks for $800, id never expect to see a deal like that again. In your price range you'll be in a tough spot. It sounds like Iron masters are in your future.

Dumbells arnt something to cheap out on if youre looking for fixed imo.
So many horrible ones around that dont have a good way to attach the head to the handle, will leave you with a useless bell when it comes off.
I tried to go the cheap route with some handles that screwed in to the head .. alot of the heads ended up getting really loose and one came off, got rid and now stick to spinlocks now untill a good brand pops up.-!!!---!!!- No Excuses Homemade Equipment Crew #4 -!!!---!!!-

Actually, he was asking about 40-100 in 10lb. increments, and he likes hex to boot. That's 980 lbs @50 cents/lb which comes to around $500, add some plate mates and it's a good set. Not $400, but close.
Do you ever have anything useful, or helpful, to add. You aren't going to find anyone short of retarded to make the statement that you made.
