I don't like my coffee sweet but put it in Yerba or herbal tea sometimes.
Depends on the stevia.
Pure stevia extract is fine. Read your label. Most powdered "stevia" from the supermarkets are blends with mainly sucralose and just a wee bit of stevia added in
I found it's best use is putting a dropperful in with my 7 year olds medicine to make it more palatable for herSheriff John Brown always hated me

Go for it! Stevia in the Raw ftw
I use stevia every day and I think it's great. I drink about 5 cups of tea each day, with a packet of stevia in each. Most days I also have plain full fat yogurt with a packet of stevia and a splash of vanilla extract added in. I really like Stevia in the Raw, I don't have any issues with the taste and I really like that it doesn't give me any insulin response which can be really nice if you're cutting (I am not), on a keto or low carb (which I used to be) or if you're carb sensitive (which I totally am).
When I first started using it a bunch I hada little bit of digestive issues, and some joint pain (when I was using like 15 packets a day) but that was during a very stupid time in my nutritional schema and you'll figure out what works for you.

Read the label on "stevia in the raw."
There is less stevia in it and mostly erythritol made from genetically modified corn.
Please don't.
If you can't spring for pure liquid extract of stevia, better to learn to enjoy foods in their natural states unsweetened.
Good coffee is fine unsweetened.Sheriff John Brown always hated me

Was that "lord" directed at my post?
I really think it depends on what is "fine."
The original post asked about stevia.
Sure, in moderation there's nothing wrong with stevia.
Another poster mentioned "stevia in the raw" which barely has any stevia in it, AND is mainly comprised of an ingredient manufactured from commercial Corn syrup that you can take to the bank is from GMO'd seed.
I personally don't think GMOd food is "fine" just because it's on shelves at the local supermarket doesn't mean it doesn't have dangers.
If meant "is it okay for fat loss?" Sure. So is vomiting and starvation.Sheriff John Brown always hated me

You're entitled to your opinion, but current science would disagree with you. I'll just leave this here

No it doesn't.
There ARE no independent studies on GMO effects because they keep being silenced by Big Business. They are illegal and BANNED in many countries in the Europe, with the remainder requiring mandatory labeling.
The article simply makes fun of people who claim GMOs are dangerous, and poo-poohed studies pointing to their dangers, and did not post any studies PROVING they weren't. It doesn't prove or disprove a single thing.Sheriff John Brown always hated me

I read all of Alan's writings.
I didn't say anything about stevia (comprehension fail, lol) nor any particular artificial sweeteners.
I SAID erythritol was manufactured from HFCS which----in the states---is most likely (like 90%) made from GMO corn.
Which has NOT been proven safe. Quite the contrary.
Honestly I'd sooner feed my daughter saccharine or the other blue one than conventional sweeteners because of GMOLast edited by discdoggie; 03-22-2014 at 05:27 AM.

Oh, and I adore AA and have been following his writings since 2007. But his expertise is in fat loss and body composition.
edit: again, I went back to the article to see if I missed something. I went specifically to the part about GMO since I never said anything about "clean eating" or artificial sweeteners in general.
The article only linked ANOTHER article that said certain studies on GMOs were skewed and/or flawed and were pushed by the anti-Monsanto camp.
It's hard to get ANY real and accurate info because of the patent of the seed. But any independent studies that HAVE been done has been enough for GMO'd food to be yanked off the shelves in many European countries, and demand labeling on the rest.Last edited by discdoggie; 03-22-2014 at 05:23 AM.

Ingredients on my label of stevia: Maltodextrin 55%
Fructofibres (inulin 34% Oligofructose 8%)
Sweeteners : Steviol Glycosides and Thaumatin
Fructooligosaccharides also sometimes called oligofructose or oligofructan, are oligosaccharide fructans, used as an alternative sweetener. FOS exhibits sweetness levels between 30 and 50 percent of sugar in commercially prepared syrups. Wikipedia
Maltodextrin is a polysaccharide that is used as a food additive. It is produced from starch by partial hydrolysis and is usually found as a white hygroscopic spray-dried powder. Wikipedia
In chemistry, a glycoside is a molecule in which a sugar is bound to another functional group via a glycosidic bond. Glycosides play numerous important roles in living organisms. Many plants store chemicals in the form of inactive glycosides. Wikipedia
Thaumatin
Thaumatin is a low-calorie sweetener and flavour modifier. The protein is often used primarily for its flavour-modifying properties and not exclusively as a sweetener. Wikipedia

Look, I've been called "one of those food crazies" several times. I'm used to it.
Big Business is banking on the masses to "trust" that just because there isn't a warning label that it must me okay. The tobacco industry did this for decades. They hid studies from the public.
They fired, blackballed, and outright threatened whistle blowers . Monsanto is being accused of doing the same.Sheriff John Brown always hated me

Oh sweet baby Jesus, sugar is not gonna give you cancer. And carbs are not going to lead to diabetes in people like us who actually, y'know, work out hard and regularly.

Every person who enjoys having coffee or tea many times a day knows the conflict of keeping the calories and blood sugar levels at bay. Thanks to the large cubes of sugar, we add to our drinks to make it taste better and delicious; we are at constant risk of many diseases. Such large consumption increases the chances of obesity, skin aging, diabetes, heart diseases, and much more. It is useful to opt for sugar replacements to be on the safer side. There are many options for sugar available in the market. The most suitable one with minimal calories and the better taste is stevia.

I just started using no sugar added vanilla oat milk with one packet of raw stevia and it's very easy to drink! I went from using sugar free creamers (YUCK) to the oat milk and stevia for something a little more natural and lower in fat. I thought the oat milk would be off-putting but it makes the coffee creamy and the stevia gives it the perfect amount of sweetness just to take off the bitterness. Hope you enjoy it
