What has been done so far:
    - Rust removed from wheels with wire wheel and wire hand brush
    - Washed dumbbells outside with soapy water and a scotch brite pad

    What needs to be done:
    - Remove as much as I can from the allen keys
    - Remove any excess rust from handle edges that I missed due to getting lazy
    - SP-80 them up

Tips for others cleaning dirty rubber equipment:
Do not be afraid to just take the plates/dumbbells outside and wash them like a car. I wasted hours washing my hand by dipping a rag in water and carefully washing them. It wasnt until I was fed up with how long it took, that I just took one outside and washed it like a car with a hose, dish soap filled bucket of water, and a sponge. Boy was I happy I did. Each dumbbell took 5 minutes to wash and dry with a towel.

Restoration threads are the best, excellent work on the set!
I personally would have a hard time letting them go,
But that's also because a full set of Pro-style DB's are on my weight room wishlist.

Other than the small, irrelevant cracks, they look basically brand new. You've done an excellent job fixing these up. Color me impressed.

Like TheDude said, these types of threads rock. Almost anyone needs to post one of these on their journey. I bet you're proud as hell, OP.

    You are keeping these, right?

    Thanks the dude!

And yes to you both, I'm keeping these babies! The circular cracks don't bother me at all.

I just need to find a 30lb pair because I have 35s-100. Finding 20-30 would be amazing, but I would be happy just finding a 30lb pair

I found a random set of the chrome version of yours w/ rubber ends. $1500 (25s - 50s, 85s-100s). I'm so tempted to get them, but I can't justify that cash. Seeing yours make me want them even more.

Dummbells get really squirrelly when you get past 100 lbs. I was "trying" to bench with 125s & only got 4 reps because of the effort put into not stamping a circle out on my quad from the olympic handle. You'll appreciate the rubber caps to no end.

Have you tried using those dumbbell hooks that hook onto your racked barbell, and then you can rack dumbbells from?

    Don’t need sp80

I reconditioned mine with mother’s vinyl and rubber cleaner and finished them off with turtle wax trim restorer... worked like a charm.
