Last Friday my wife and I took the day off, shipped the boys off to her parents and headed to Niagara for some cross border shopping and well needed fun.
Crazy the amount of things we bought. I was most impressed with the fun cereals that I found, along with the superhero Pop Tarts. lol
View from our hotel room:
Friday night they even put on a fireworks show for us. Sadly the fun only lasted until Sunday when it was back to reality....

Even as a Canadian I have been drawn into the U.S. Presidential race. I guess it's not hard to be, considering this two year process can create so many story lines and drama. The mere fact that it takes two years is crazy. Our last Federal election process, the one which Trudeau won, took only 78 days. And that was one of the longest campaigns in recent Canadian history, lol.
Regardless, I guess my fascination and following of the race has somehow trickled onto the boys. While the Republican primaries were still being contested, even Evan and Nathan picked their favourites. Evan has always been on the side of Donald Trump, while Nathan was a Cruz supporter. Probably for the fact that he believed Donald was far too orange and his face was too fat, lol. I guess Evan was on the right side of this one.
His support of Donald has come to an end now however. Now that it seems like the 2 likely nominees will be Hillary and Trump, Evan has switched favourites in the race for the Presidency. And the reason is adorable. In the upcoming race, this main factor for Evan is not likeability, policy, but speed. Yes, Evan believes that Hillary and Donald are actually going to have a running race to determne who will be the President.
In Evan's mind Hillary will blow Donald out of the water. Hillary is so fast you see (and this is when he proceeds to show me how she runs, by sprinting all around the house). Donald, on the other hand is super slow. In a slow, stomping manner, with arms flaying, Evan then illustrates Donald's running form, all the while shouting out in a low, grumbling voice, "hey...wait up....". I can't help by joining in the dialogue, further detailing how the race will happen, and encouraging his assessment of the racers, lol. Ah, the innocence of youth.Team General Mills

Thanks for popping in. I'm not sure how long I will be able to keep up physique-wise. I have kind of lost my passion for lifting, only have twice in the past few weeks. Everything just hurts. My shoulder's been messed up since last September and my back (which has always been a problem) is not good at all right now. When it hurts to just do a basic movement, hurts to do a simple body weight squat, hurts to put on your shoes, you know something is wrong. It's kind of sad since at 44 years old I consider myself to be in good shape, yet my back keeps me from free motion. I'd love to run around with my boys but I honestly think twice before starting to move because I know that I'll feel pain. This is really depressing when you think about it.....
Anyways, still riding the bike at least.
Nathan truly doesn't turn seven until the end of July but we celebrated his Bday on Sunday, before the kids get off for summer break.

update
Rob:
Sorry to hear that your body is under the weather. Your tale of woe is one of the reasons that I am cautious with what I lift in the gym. You might want to check out an Eric Helms youtube video in which he talks about his aches and pains and then has discovered that there is a hip issue which can be resolved with surgery.
Anyway you know what you need to do to look after your body.
I've moved to Chilliwack and found a gym which will motivate me to do some training and we'll see where it all goes. In the meantime I look forward to your postings and its reminder of life in the real world!

Hey Lou1se, sadly the bod is still a mess. Trained legs for the 1st time in probably 5 months; simple goblet squats with 30lbs and my back tightened up so bad....frustrating. Shoulder is still in bad shape. Pain throughout and into my trap with any simple movement.
Anyways....been a while since I've posted anything, so for anyone who's interested....
Took Nathan to his 1st MLB game on his actual 7th Bday. He got into the spirit:
After the game dinner (my burger was insanely delicious):

Clement! Great to hear from the champ. Can't believe I haven't really posted since the summer. Not much new around these parts. Training is not the same as it used to be. The bod is kind of breaking down sadly. The boys are doing well though. Nathan is now 7 and Evan 5. The get along mostly, but they do battle. It will only get worse as the get bigger.
How are things with you. Getting out of retirement yet?Team General Mills
