Getting nauseous can come from not having enough food in ya before you hit the gym.....I always eat about 1 1 /12 hr before a workout....It just works for me and I don't get sick to my stomach from the volume. I also don't gorge myself just a regular meal...even a banana 1/2 hr before helps me...If I train volume on an empty stomach I get pukie....I also get pukie if I eat too much before especially if I'm squatting heavy

I'm the total opposite but I think going early in the morning is what really helps me. I have the calories from the night before and I'm not already worn out from the day's events yet.

I use to train in the morning but I'd still make a protein smoothie and I'd drink half before the WO and half after...

If fasting training works for ya....then there's nothing to change....

Funny RT but I'm shoveling food down as I'm driving to the gym after I have usually an omelette. I just think I have a high metabolism because an intense session of heavy lifting prob chews up the calories. At the same time I feel just a little nauseous after my workout and I have to wait for a little while to eat.

Funny how everybody is different. John Butz does the fasted training and he said it promotes growth hormone and fights against aging so there you go Penny! RT and I could go for that too!

I have never been a fan of protein shakes. After a few they all make me sick to my stomach. Just not my thing I guess. I have to plan my meals better without that bit of insurance.

Glad to hear this!! I have often been accused of overdoing it..Figure as long as I'm paying gym dues, I'm going to get my money's worth!!

Between the powerlifting rest periods and the mega sessions of bench and squat I eat up every bit of the two hours I have during the week. Saturday is front squats and 214563 types of deadlifts which takes me three hours. My main lift is what takes forever. Accessory is quick.

I also read about people who get in and out in an hour and act like any more than that is wasteful. I laugh. Stuff like that reminds me try not to judge others for what they do.

I do try to get in/out in an hour. Mostly just because of my schedule. Not to mention I usually go with my dad and he is normally finished before I am.

I blame it on powerlifter rest...even though I haven't gone to the dark side yet (aka the powerlifter side).
LOL. I always ignore those comments. Making those type of comments is extremely rude given that they have no clue what that person's goals are. A gymnast for example will spend 3+ hours a day training...more at the elite levels.

And Gene, a few months back he describe to us what his bench session was like back in the day. One bench session with a shirt would take him around 4 hours. First hour was warm up and getting into the shirt...next hour was benching with the shirt on...next hour was waiting around until the pump went down in his arms so he could get out of the shirt...and the rest of the time was auxiliary. I'd love to see those people walk up to Gene and say his workouts are excessive. He would probably just look at them like they were stupid.

I do the same as you, I need a small amount in me before the workout. Then after the workout I will eat some carbs/protein. I don't like doing cardio or volume on an empty stomach.

Fasted vs non fasted workouts is really individual based with positives and negatives on both methods.

I've experimented with both. Felt lack of energy on fasted, and felt like puking or too bloated on non-fasted.

For me 2-3 hours after a average sized meal is best.

Also, time in gym really depends on what you are doing. My upper dynamic days are just under a 1hr, but weightlifting days are 90mins or more.

Love all the food talk in my milf thread. And Korr...2-3 hrs after a meal, WTF! I'd fall off the bench for sure. I'm snack eating the whole way to the gym.

Gym time and volume...hmmm. Like Arty said everybody has dif goals; she's so diplomatic. I think a PL workout takes a little longer over a BB workout. U need that good rest between compound sets. DL esp takes long. I'm usually out within one and a half to two hours. My gym is a half hour away so kind of like Lonnie, I'm going to get my time and money's worth. To me it's pure enjoyment too so I like to stay awhile.

Many people have much more going on than I do so I respect there are time restraints and I respect the hell outta ya'll for getting it done...a real inspiration to me.

    Friday 9/18- home workout

    Squats, DLs & bi's

    Squats
    45x5
    65x5
    80x5
    90x5
    100x3

    DLs- trying 5/3/1- week 1
(whoops forgot to scale back 10%, adjusted on 3rd set).

    130x5
    150x5
    155x5

    T-bar row
    100x10
    110x10
    120x9

    Pull-ups- 10, 8, 8

    EZ bar curls
    50x8
    60x8
    65x8
    70x6
    75x5

    Straight bar curls
    45x8
    50x8x2

    HIIT- on elliptical

The deadlifts were so tough! Form was breaking down...these are just falling apart; I'll just keep working. Prob not a good idea since day b4 a big garage sale and carting junk for 20 trips up my steep backyard from the shed then all the schlepping all the shyt around after and packing it up for charity. My knee and left hip hurt the next day. Old age sucks! Felt good depth on the squats.

    Ohhh yeah

Ugh, leg day takes foreverrr, and I blame it on deadlifts. Brb forever warmup, brb someone stole the thing that holds the bar and now have to load plates the hard way, brb powerlifter rest during work sets, brb trying to strip the bar and re-rack weights while also trying not to pass out from deadlifting.

U girl are the most hard working powerlifter I ever saw! See what I did there?? Ur workouts floor me and inspire me. I don't use that set up thingy for DLs and our bars have all that dirty rusty stuff on the collars and u can't get the weights on too easily but that's what makes u strong is the loading and unloading. Deadlifting is by far the hardest lift and I will argue with anyone to the death on that one! Gets to me worse than benching except I love benching but I'm a head case with it.

I remember this...showing our age Robert! No one quite puts it like Carlin and my son loves him.

I like to blow through the compounds and take my time with the accessory work; think I'm really a bodybuilder at heart because I like accessory so much better...except I do love benching.
