I'm just finishing up my first year. Got one more year of coursework, then quals prep. Cannot wait until coursework is over, it just feels like such a drag away from my personal research pursuits. Of course once I start preparing for quals I'm sure I'll wish I was back to the relative ease of courses lol. You never win.

NW is a great school, so is UIC. Great location. My friend is going there for med school this year and someone in my cohort did their undergrad at UIC. Where will you be living, somewhere in the west loop?

I've only been to one nightclub in chicago and it was not at all my scene. I like upbeat bars but the light out, lasers, EDM blasting ish is not my thing.

Ive been in the south loop for seven years so Im staying here. At the doctorate level most stuff is online and independent so it wont be an issue. And Im to old to be in any college areas

Its funny, the chicago club scene. A lot of the places try to be "classy" with bottle service and craft cocktails and what not...but by late night its no different than any other night club. I never did the EDM scene either.

Nice man. I'm almost on zero pain medication. Finally. Still get random hard pangs (not sure if the right word???) out of nowhere, but it's better. Mind is clearer, I can think straight, no more slow reactions. I did learn that because of my concussion, I may suffer from memory loss or inability to remember things well for a while, but I mean so as long as it's not serious, I think I'd be fine.

Sports therapist/rehab suggested I buy one of those Velcros compression thingamajigs for my leg though. Dunno what they're called or who sells them. Apparently that'll suppress minor pain?

Yeah, her grill was like 20 years old, it was time for an upgrade, seeing we use it often in the summer ( Grill all my chicken, steaks on it) I put it to good use too, but mom loves to grill corn, ribs, dogs etc.. so its worth it.

understandable. i'll be moving up north (lincoln park / lakeview area) next year and commuting to campus. hyde park is a great neighborhood and I really like it but I'd like to be closer to where most of the people I know in the city live.

I probably would have went with this idea if I didn't wait until the damn last minute like I always do. The girlfriend ran out with my card tonight so I could watch hockey, and picked up some stuff for both of our mothers. Candles, bath and body works package, and cards. A bit cliche but oh well.
