he needs to bulk, add some mass. If he puts enough size on it won't be noticeable.

No, he doesn't. You're confusing "wide hip bones" with what is actually a significant lack of abdominal and oblique muscle tissue, giving him that "look".

    You are wrong, sir.

I can't change what you want to believe, however, you should be aware that your perception of "wide hip bones" is deluded.

You could bulk but then you'd inevitably add fat to your hips as well, so it wouldn't make a big difference. There's still no hope for a v-taper any way you see it, it wil always be an hourglass figure

You don't even need a v-taper, although that is the most aesthetic thing. What this kid has is an hourglass figure, which is 1000 times worse than a normal | | figure.

You're saying if he trained obliques that would suddenly help fix the problem? It's simply not the case. I know guys who haven't trained obliques in their life and have either a normal | | figure or a v-taper. Not to mention people who never lifted in their life and have a normal | | figure.

When I say wide hips I mean relative to his waist. His bad waist to hip ratio gives him an hourglass figure. Maybe his hips aren't wide by definition, but they are wide in comparison with his figure.

No, nothing is going to "suddenly" change. Squatting and deadlifting will sufficiently hit the obliques in respect to the "problem" this thread is discussing. You don't have to train them directly. Basically core, abs, and obliques will correct the "waist" issue, as you call it. In the photo, the guy is also leaning forward to contract his abs and therefore posteriorly rotating the hips, emphasizing the "wide hips" look that you don't like. In addition, training the lats and medial deltoids will add to the "V-Taper" look you desire.

And once again, the reason his waist/hips/whatever you want to call it looks that way is because he's very thin, low body fat, and low musculature.

There is nothing more to add to the discussion. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

You're ignoring the fact that there's tons of people out there with average/good genetics that start out, never lifted, with a normal | | figure even at low body fat, thin, and low musculature. The point of this thread is about how much having bad genetics can hinder you, and for people to stop claiming it's all about hard work when that's clearly not the only thing involved.

Dude... I'm a fitness trainer and an exercise science major. I do this for a living. I've worked with hundreds of "bad genetics" individuals.

    You're wrong. Plain and simple.

This thread should be retitled to "Good training, nutrition, and recovery = 99% of the equation".

Wrong that I've seen non lifters start out with normal | | figures? What am I wrong about? That genetics matter? You're delusional if you think otherwise. Doesn't take an exercise science major to understand this

Genetics also spread much farther than just bone structure. Hormone levels like testosterone and estrogen for instance play a large role (some men are born with low test, higher estrogen and have a lot of trouble putting on any muscle). This could be the case for this guy, maybe a hormonal issue

agreed with OP. theres nothing that says you cant do everything you can to draw attention away from structural imperfections but some people are dealt the jackpot hand when it comes to frame/muscle bellies/bonestructure

lol he's 6'5 not sure about the weight. You can't solve wide hips; they are always there. V-taper is impossible even if you had wide shoulders etc
