The counterpoint:President Barack Obama said that racial tensions may have softened his popularity among white voters within the last two years, according to a story posted on the New Yorker magazine’s website today.
“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president,” Obama said in the article by David Remnick, appearing in the magazine’s Jan. 27 edition.
“Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,” Obama said in his most direct comments on how race has affected his political standing since he’s been in office.
“Poll after poll makes it very clear that Obamacare and other job-killing policies are the reason” for the president’s decline in popularity, Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer said in a phone interview today.

Don't like Obama, but it sounds like he was pointing out both sides. OP fails

"President Barack Obama said that racial tensions may have softened his popularity among white voters within the last two years..."
Sure, Mr. President. It's all them white folks who voted for and supported you, suddenly turning racist. (What "racial tensions" have developed in the last two years?)
Couldn't possibly be due to your endlessly failed policies.

There is no such thing as a "race card". The interviewer brought up his poll numbers and the drop in older white American support. He gave an answer acknowledging that race can play a factor in his detractors AND supporters. I really have no issue with his comments.
It's pathetic that we can never talk about race issues because immediately some is called out for "playing the race card", or a racist on the other side.6'3 Master Race

Not really. Edit: According to the OP article... He blamed a drop in polling/popularity due to racism. The second statement was an honest point, but irrelevant to the initial racial blame for his worsening popularity in office. He didn't refer to people who've always been racist, but those who are magically becoming racist as the only way he could comprehend disagreement with his failed policies.

No, he really didn't. Go read the actual full article. Someone took quotes from a LONG interview...posted them up on blogs, and said "OMG, Obama playing dat der race card again!". This is what our media has become. Everyday lib/com blog seek out quotes to twist & turn for their own propaganda and for ratings/viewers.
Anyway, this is all I want to contribute to this topic. You guys can take the bait if you want.6'3 Master Race

"Do you think SHE actually felt like that was a sexual thing he was doing? She's like 6. Only an actual p3do would think that she thought he was groping her, too."
"Not that it's impossible to touch a minor inappropriately, but it is true that a 6 year old girl will not recognize someone putting a hand on their chest as groping, whether it is inappropriate or not."

This is an excellent point. Those people, who overwhelmingly approved of him and gave him every chance when he was elected, have NOW shown their true racist colors. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this and Obama is bringing this up. Racism needs to be brought into the light of day and exposed.
I made a thread about this just the other day, so it's good to see Obama catch up.

To be fair he brought up the other spectrum as well...
“Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,” Obama said in his most direct comments on how race has affected his political standing since he’s been in office.

Yeah, you know only 15% of the population disapproved of him on day one. Now over 50% do. Those 35% that changed their minds are clearly racist just as it's a 100% bonifide irrefutable fact that each-and-every-single-one of those 15% that disapproved of him on day one were racist and certainly not partially, or mostly, Conservative types who would have disapproved of any Democrat regardless of race.
Racism is fast becoming yesterday's news though. My friends, the next big thing is and will be the Rightwing War on Womyn that is set to come to a head in 2016. It's coming and it's going to be horrendous.

That's not the point. If, as implied by the New Yorker article, the drop in his polling/approval during the past two years is due to race, then it pretends that suddenly a whole group of people turned racist, who were previously not. (Instead of accepting that his abysmal performance in office is the real reason for his declining approval).

Maybe... I voted for him the first time because he was black... I didn't vote for him the second time because he was black... but I disapprove of him because he essentially the black Jimmy Carter.
