I can chime in here:

My good friend was in 1/9....wounded twice.
He passed away about 5 years ago in Wyoming.
Never knew how and his family never responded to me.
Cuts pretty deep if I think on it too long.

Just donated some to a woman who has been abused, put in a wheelchair, then denied proper support from society, both in protection from her abuser and medical expenses. It just makes me sad that there is no sympathy or funds from authorities to folks who paid taxes all their lives, but for a lot of other things that makes no sense. It also makes me wonder if I do this to feel better about myself or what it is.. but honestly feel no better, and maybe it doesn't even matter. Just think we need find a way in an ever divisive world to look out for one another. Anyhow ...just thoughts that came up.

Hey steffo....

I'd say it's very respectable to overtly express our sense of empathy for others of less good fortune.
That's a very human characteristic which sets us apart.
To a point anyway....anthropomorphically speaking....we just don't know it that can be applied to other life forms, that I know of anyway.

So...it's OK to feel good (I don't use the word proud, generally speaking) that you had that opportunity to express the 'empathy' as you did.

(On spread....with everyone one here. I still haven't negged anybody yet for the sole purpose to open up my greening filter

)

As all the negative stuff out there often appears to build an insurmountable wall of $hit, positive efforts surely combine to produce meaningful results. I wouldn't fret aboot motivation - the earnest questioning of intent and/or motivation is an awareness that I believe will resolve naturally in due time. IMHO, it's all aboot momentum. While it often takes effort to find the positive stuff, it's out there; along with the people committed to pursuit of living constructive, meaningful lives.

Yeah I get the point - probably am tied in to negative news a bit too much. But not easy when the system seems to be falling apart a little each day. My positivity thing each day is looking through the new real estate listings each day for cheap houses in the country and (thru google/wikipedia) learn about all these small towns (and their history) that could be potential new residence.
