My cat and dog do not get along. Not really a big issue other than when they pass each other in a hallway. Right now however the cat and dog are huddled in my bedroom about 4 feet apart from each other, I’m in here too. The door is closed. The reason is simple: I wanted to push my kids to achieve anything by allowing them to express themselves.

Foolishly one year I bought a drum set. The sound is..I can’t ascribe anything to it other than to say the noise a jet engine would make if it had coins and a Ouija board broadcasting the lamenting the wails of the dead inside at the same time as breaking glass.
Did I mention this song for the dead somehow called the other siblings who’ve plugged in amps and have formed an impromptu rage band. They are so ffffffffing loud. I’m hoping the cops will come, but in the meantime I’m tempted to cut the power to the house and blame the amps. Need Bourbon. Please help.

For it always dreaded a family row!
(Now mind: I'm only telling you
What the old Dutch clock declares is true!)

The Chinese plate looked very blue,
And wailed, "Oh, dear! what shall we do!"
But the gingham dog and the calico cat
Wallowed this way and tumbled that,
Employing every tooth and claw
In the awfullest way you ever saw -
And, oh! how the gingham and calico flew!
(Don't fancy I exaggerate -
I got my news from the Chinese plate!)

Next morning, where the two had sat
They found no trace of dog or cat;
And some folks think unto this day
That burglars stole that pair away!
But the truth about the cat and pup
Is this: they ate each other up!
Now what do you really think of that!

And that is how I came to know.)

Rogers Pendulum Vertical Chest Facelift

About 3 months back, I purchased 4 older style Rogers Pendulum chest machines at auction. I sold 3 and, after all expenses, ended up getting one for free.

These machines were probably 8-10 years old with normal wear and tear. I decided to restore mine with new black powder coat to match my other 5 Rogers Pendulum pieces. I replaced the majority of the hardware, new grips, as well as 8 new bearings on the linkage bar.

So after quite a bit of effort, I ended up with an almost new Pendulum machine for free.



Original condition was pretty good, but had some scratches and dings to the powder coat.







The older design had V-style bracing for support.



The older Rogers Pendulum vertical chest had a 5th storage weight horn.




Replaced the bearings on the linkage bar connecting the pushing arm to the loading arm. Not the best design using this type/size bearing in this location. All of the other bearings on the machine are huge and didn't need replacing.

I was fortunate to pick up this "like new" Atlantis cable crossover from a forum member recently. Dude had bought it new and used it in his home gym. I believe that Atlantis makes the finest adjustable pulley cable columns, so I knew that I was going to go after this crossover.



Attachment storage and exercise stabilizer handles.



Glass smooth, one hand, pulley adjustment.



Atlantis 5lb add on weight system. Weights are stored at the top of the 1" guide rods. Just twist the weight 1/4 turn and lower down to the weight stack.



Clean, like new, weight stacks. Very happy with this purchase.

So...new year, time for more cat stories because I know you all love them.

Workout Cat was making a weird noise in the hallway the other day, I walked around the corner to see her screaming at a field mouse that she'd caught that was in her mouth. She wasn't trying to eat it, I think she was screaming to get our attention A LA 'look what I did'. Unfortunately she got so excited about this that she dropped the mouse which immediately made a break for the door, which caused her to chase it again chattering loudly which caused the dog to start chasing her which started the kids chasing the dog to get the dog away from the cat that was chasing the mouse that was running for its life. Myself, I sat back down and finished my bourbon. A few minutes later I walk out to see the GF watching the kids watching the dog who was sitting watching the cat who was sitting down watching a crack in the baseboard. So if anything we've established the household hierarchy early in the year which is good.

Another cool recent equipment find. This is a Rogers Pendulum Seated Squat. Really an upright leg press with a split foot plate for single leg work or the foot plates can be locked together for normal pressing. I got this one at auction. It came from the Cleveland Browns and looked like it had been in storage for some time. When I got it home and cleaned her up, she was in 9/10 powder coat condition.

I actually already owned this machine in white, so this was just a color upgrade to match my other Pendulum equipment. At 900lbs. this is the biggest plate load leg press that I am aware.
