That feeling when you're so thoroughly enjoying your morning coffee so decide to have a third cup... and then the planet starts shaking and there's no turning back. I probably should have had some breakfast before venturing down this path.

Do I have more than the same 24 hours as everyone else? Seems like when I talk about lifting at work everyone says that "they wish they had as much time as I do"

The eagles are nesting again, Gregg.
Frances and Eugene have three eggs and Noshi
and Shima have one egg so far last time I looked.
Shima says "Hi!" at 8:25pm on 2-6-20. JC1 cam.
The shiny spots are rain droplets.
Frances at Bluff City show us 3 eggs during an egg roll at 7:11pm on 2-3-20.
Wow.

G'day Wayne, I have been following these magnificent bald eagles for a few years now
If you click on the link at the bottom of my previous post you will be able to watch them
at work. Get deeper into the site and you should find a spot where people are chatting and
giving updates eg- dates, times of any milestones and interesting activities...very educational
too if you have any questions.
You may also like to follow their progress on ******** by joining the group - ETSU Eagle Cams -

A little history for those that may not be familiar with this bald eagle discussion.
The use of the pesticide DDT had almost wiped out bald eagles in the lower 48 states back in the 1950s and 60s. I think DDT was banned in 1972.
In 1980, the state began reintroducing bald eagles to Tennessee. The first known successful breeding pair was in 1983. Now bald eagles are thriving in Tennessee.
East Tennessee State University installed cameras around the nests of two breeding pairs in the area. The eagles return to rebuild the nests every year. The females will usually lay 1-3 eggs. The survival rate of young eagles from these 2 breeding pairs has been high.
The Johnson City nest is only 75 feet or so off of a paved road and can easily be viewed. It can also be seen from the city park across the lake and from a 4 lane highway over 1/4 of a mile away. The nest is located in the highest tree, on a bluff, overlooking the lake. I live about 5 road miles from the JC nest.
The Bluff City nest is 8-10 road miles away along the river that feeds the opposite end of the lake. I have driven over there but have yet to find that nest.Last edited by deadwoodgregg; 02-07-2020 at 08:26 AM.

Happy Saturday all. First weekend with no NFL. Any big plans this weekend? I might deadlift (with my hex bar, feel free to make fun) and grill since it stopped raining for the first time since December lol

Louise, here is another local bald eagle story. This is about 50 miles away. Seems our local birds may be binge eaters.

No pics, but Bald Eagles are rare in my area. My brother saw a pair yesterday at our lake. Full grown male and female. He said that they were massive and beautiful.
In the Winter we see Kara Kara and Osprey, but not that often. Eagles more rare.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

Thanks, Gregg! Great article and loved the photos, poor old bird haha Imagine being held by the ankles like that after enjoying a big feast lol At first I was puzzled why they would relocate the eagle 23 miles from where the wildlife officers had found it but I see they collected some valuable information from the tag.
My daughter saw something similar a few years ago, she was working on New Year's Day and came across a young adult wedge-tailed eagle on the side of a gravel road. She stopped to check if it was injured and decided it had filled itself up to the brim from the kangaroo carcass nearby and was unable to move. She left it there to recover and took some funny photos. This is what bliss looks like in the eagle world
Sounds promising, MarkLast edited by Lou1se; 02-27-2020 at 02:10 AM.

A nice read
A Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year old).
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's
owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a
miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker,
and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe
the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm,
petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes,
Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while
after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane,
who had been listening quietly, piped up, 'I know why.'
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting
explanation.
He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life -- like loving everybody all the time and
being nice, right?' The six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay
as long.'.
