Stage 4 melanoma. Freaking out misc.

I got so many tiny moles its literally impossible for me to keep an eye on all of them...

The 3 "main" ones are looking normal, but I am still paranoid as fuk...

Thanks guys, the mole was always normal until earlier this year it got cut/ripped off during some rough intercourse. I didnt think anything of it until the past few weeks when the mole was opening and bleeding every night diring sleep.

Also maybe its is not stage four. As others pointed out there is no telling if it has spread or not until i have the sentinal biopsy.

Stage IV melanoma is by definition distant metastasis and you haven't even had a sentinel node biopsy, something doesn't make sense.

Most important prognostic factor for melanoma is depth of invasion. If deep enough in mm or with histological imaging showing increased cell division, then a sentinel lymph node biopsy is warranted as lymph nodes will be the first place for the cancer to spread. If this is negative it is assumed cancer has not spread. If positive they do further workup to determine if it's spread elsewhere (stage IV).

Yea OP I am calling you out. Stage 4 can't be diagnosed from a biopsy. BTW don't blame the doctor, OP probably wanted more attention. Even nurses aids know what Stage 4 means. Hard to believe the whole thing when your first post seems like a huge attention whorish post and title. But w/e stay safe either way.

The fact remains im getting the biopsy and we'll see what happens.

Definitely call the dermatologist out if that's the case. A dermatologist ESPECIALLY should not get his/her cancer staging wrong.

Thats what my upcoming biopsy is for. Lets hope for negative.

All those people saying their moles are changing shapes and colors dont wait any longer get it removed. It was a 15god minute appointment to have it shaved off.

My grandma got a mole removed on her head last year due to melanoma and started chemo.

She didn't make it to Christmas this year..........because she's completely fine visiting family in Peru. You'll be fine OP.

K, I believe you. Maybe I was being a bit sensitive because I hear this all the time. I am being biased here. I don't think the dermatologist/doctor gave you the wrong information. I think you misheard or misunderstood what he said. I say this because I hear this all the time, 99% of the time the patient is in the wrong about his health situation because he didn't pay attention or misheard. Patients love to blame it on the doctor. There is so much face palming that goes on in the medical field its ridiculous.

Either way I wish you luck. Localized melanoma is still scary, but the survival rate between localized and regional/distal disease is huge. I wish you the best on your SLNB.

have family friend who's a dermatologist, so I'll try and get in touch with him. Pretty sure stage 4 is metastasis, hopefully it hasn't gotten too far if he was telling the truth. Very scared for you brah but hoping for the best. Please keep the misc updated.
