In reality the speed limit is the minimum speed one should be going unless hazardous road conditions. The cop can find a way to bone you if he wants. Some places you can get a ticket for 3mph over and others the police won't give a damn if youre going 20 over. Best advice if you want to avoid tickets and speed, don't be the fastest speeder. If you're impeding traffic get out of the way especially for a cop. Don't drive like an *******.

I disagree. I could easily articulate that I saw a hazard and applied my brakes, or even that my car was overheating or having a mechanical failure.

The onus is on the officer who was clearly driving haphazardly. There is no rational way for the officer to articulate why he was following so closely, without his lights or sirens on.

I don't doubt that police officers pull people over. But believe you me they have a very specific way of doing it that is meant to put an emphasis on safety. Maintaining proper distance while using flashing lights and sirens are an integral portion of that protocol. In the video, I see none of the safety specifics employed here. Again, i'm not going to go out and do this, but I find you're failing to see my very basic point, which is, under the circumstances, someone could have applied their brakes (for whatever reason) and caused an accident and the onus would be on the officer who is CLEARLY driving in an unsafe manner. Do you see the point?

What state is this? In MI, you are not supposed to go faster than the speed limit and you are supposed to allow one car length of following distance for every 10 MPH. The guy in front of the cop probably didn't want to get a speeding ticket. It is common for cops to follow people trying to catch them speeding.
