Question! I was playing around with the setup today and wanted to get your thought on this. With my current setup I think it would be cool to somehow leave the j-hooks and monolifts in at the same time, adjusting just the safeties for squats and bench. I think it would be near perfect, do you see any reason why they would have made the backplate on the spotters so tall? Seems like if you could cut that down to and bring the safeties to the bottom of the j-hooks it would work for my squat height.
(Monolifts are set at my squat height, j-hooks for where I bench)
Bringing the safety spotters up to #14 right under the hooks

Well, first, it's not because they put it that high that it NEEDS to be that high.
Second, the other drop-ins have the pins going in the front face. Meaning the pin only serves to keep the whole attachment form sliding down and does nothing to keep the attachment from pulling away from the upright. Which, in the case of long spotters, is what most of the force is going to be doing. What actually takes most of the stress is the bracket that's bent around the back of the upright.
In your case, the pins serve both purposes. So they're under a lot more stress. But you have 2 on top (which keep spotter from pulling away as well as sliding down) and 2 on the bottom (which only keep it from sliding down). Now, could it be lower? Probably. But I can't make an educated guess. Easy way is to load front of spotter until rack cutouts (or pins) fail, and then you can do the math for a lower pin position. But I doubt you want to do that .
Other solution is to lower the pins, then add another set on the following cutout. So the stress is higher from the lower position, but you're doubling up the material.▪█──█▪ Equipment Crew #61 ▪█──█▪

Monos came in today and look great, without even getting to use them yet, to me they just look like a much better thought out and refined design vs rogue and the finish on them is perfect!

Something I never noticed/took note of in previous pics of these monos but like a lot is that they are offset. My eliteFTS fat bar is on the narrow side between collars so being able to set the monos to the inside edge of the upright now gives me an extra inch or so of room on each side.Last edited by turbolsxstang; 02-22-2017 at 04:26 AM.

Mech6 Monos
Picked up my Mech6 mono today.
Packing was superb and bullet proof as usual and well as response via e-mail. It was almost like texting. This is was customized mono for GPR 378 (Poor man's/starter commercial rack). The hole sizes for GPR 378 are 1-5/16" and pins should be 1-1/4". The reason why I went with GPR 378 was it was recommended (better than PPR200X) plus it met height limitation that i have which 84". GPR 378 is 79-1/2" in height. But all accessories need to be customized.
So Mech6 came with an idea that let us go with standard pins ( well, he gave me option as either to go with 5/8" inch or 1 " inch and i choose 1' inch ) and then wrap the pins with removable the 1-1/4" steel sleeves. This way if ever upgrade the rack i can carry use the same mono. Now due to Mono , I am definitely thinking of upgrading the rack even though not needed but just for the accessories. Not key hole one a but straight 1" inch hole unless i can use this mono for Keyhole rack.
Along with the mono there are 2 additional shims (1/32") which were not necessary at all. The mono aligns with the rack perfectly and is very tight.
With the main pin sleeved.
With the locking pin sleeved. Both the pins are sleeved differently . The locking as small screw that can be removed with the Allen wrench .
So the locking pin was not going through all the way through the bottom hole of the mono. The sleeve is was getting stuck at probably 1/16" . This is where removable sleeve works. It could be that I measured the distance between the holes wrong or the spacing between holes is not exactly 2". Anyway, that is not an issue and might use these sleeves for more accessories :-)
Now, last time i think when asked for tissues and lotion when i posted the pic of Mech6 GH roller, i don't think i got it and probably gave a smarty pants answer. So here it is. The locking pin without the sleeve as well.
On the rack, The height of the bar is perfect as well . 2 inches above the nipples. Excuse the flooring. The carpet cannot be removed so might get a purple lilac rubber flooring to match the carpet in the rest of the basement. Till then Good old stall mats. The GYM is still evolving. There are other 2 rooms for equipment. This is the rack room

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?
