The UHMW on the dumbbell trays is a nice touch. I wish Black Widow would do the same.

I asked Dean if they would have it, and he replied no that he didn't see a need for it. I'm sure he would have if I would have offered to pay extra. I can tell the bottom of my dumbbells are getting some wear marks from racking/re-racking. Not really an issue for most people, but I like to keep it bling blingin in my gym.

You can most likely have someone add them on. Worse case, go to mcmaster, get some adhesive backed UHMW, and stick that on. I use it often, works fine, stays put. 1/16" or 1/8" thick would be plenty. Or if you want black, get black uhmw, then get doubled sided VHB tape (made for poweder coat and polyethylene). Also at mcmaster.

If you only need a small quantity of UHMW, check eBay. I've bought a couple fairly small pieces (drops) on there recently and the prices were pretty good.

They make adhesives for pretty much everything now. In the last decade alot of manufacturing has gone to use these instead of spot welds, rivets or other "permanent" fasteners. Some of them are pretty much impossible to remove once applied. I wish some people would be more accepting of this "technology", as it does speed up things tremendously.

what do you think is a good way to make rubber feet ? i was thinking to get this ( or similar ) block :
http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/prod.../forming_tools
and just glue it to the bottom. or is there a better way ? this would be for the bench, and i would be moving it around every day and it would have to not fall off for at least 5 years or so.
or should i bolt it somehow ? or both glue and bolt it ?
any thoughts ?

Sorry if you've been over this, but you seem to be a bigger proponent of 2x2 than most on these boards. Is it that you simply feel 2x2 is more than adequate for most? It seems like most 3x3 racks rate ~1000lbs, what would you estimate 2x2 at? Also, for bolt on storage on a custom rack, would 2x2 uprights make a good cost saving option?

Not just for most. For all.
1000lbs. Holes, safeties and pins on the j-hooks. These are same for either rack (of same manufacturer).
Technically, but it's not the steel that makes a big difference. Difference between a 3x3 and 2x2 upright, in material, is less than $7. Holes are what costs, and both will have same number of holes. Still, it's what I use 90% of the time, unless someone asks for something else.▪█──█▪ Equipment Crew #61 ▪█──█▪
