Race report: Had a ****ing blast, but crashed out of the first race and fractured my two brake fingers. Done for the day.
Deets:
Good practice, got down into the 1:30s with new suspension. Knew I couldn't hang with the top 10 yet, but was looking for a decent finish.
First race: 9 lap GTU, out with unlimited bikes up to 750ccs. Gridded up 13th (grid position based on pre-registration date, no qualifying) of 32 bikes.
Got a good start, went into T1 in 8th. First lap was immediately impressed with the pace these guys are running. The fast guys got away, but I was hanging on to the second group. A couple of the bigger bikes passed me on the straights, but i managed to latch on to the back of them, was 10th at the end of the first lap.
Second lap, the guy in front of me crashed in T2, took someone out with him, running 8th.
Came out of T8 in the wrong gear, got passed by 2, back to 10th.
Came through T11, rear spun up on a concrete patch and then regained traction on the asphalt, almost high-sided, lost three places into the chicane, then two more on the straight because i had ****ty drive through the chicane. Running 15th.
L3, caught back up to the dudes that passed me, settled into a rhythm and was looking for a place to pass. T6, entering the corner with extra corner speed to set up a pass through T7. The dude two bikes ahead of me loses the front and crashes. The guy behind him, and immediately in front of me, crashed into him and the bikes got hung up together and drifted back into my line.
Stood the bike up on the front tire trying to wait for a gap to open, but there was none. Set the rear down and ran over the two crashed bikes, and all three of us skittled into the kitty litter. When I lost the front from hitting the dude's bike, my throttle hand drove into his bike and tweaked a couple fingers. It looks like I punched through his windshield, because when i got back to the pits I noticed a weird piece of plastic stuck in my glove.
Thanks A* for saving me from a pretty nasty stab wound...
What is that?
OOOOOOOH FUAAAARRRK.

You have another race coning up soon? How many races do you have in the season? Here in the St. Louis area the local racing club is MCRA and they only offer maybe 6 or 7 races each season. If I'm still here next year I'll probably race, but I want to do some CCS events as well.

Gonna need more pics, bro. You're trying to out franken-bike me and I don't like it. Bike looks good though! Post more.
I stopped by your mum's on the way to the parking garage but she was busy with two other dudes so.....
Nah, srs, it was a parking garage about 1/2 away from my house. They were all hussy b/c it's a major hospital's garage. It huge and worked really well, but I guess they're touchy about photos on the property. Must be a 9/11 terrorist sort of thing.
I'm editing them on my lunch today so I'll post them if I get them done. I think they're going to look sick but we'll see!
I've been hoping against hope that you'd finally ask. Come on over. I'll be wearing that pretty little something you picked out.
Sounds awesome! Great synopsis. I was right there with you. Sorry about your hand.
I've always wanted to photog bikes. I wonder how I get in on that action? Brb, longer lens. Brb, selling photos to elephino.
A wild ******* appears! I assume you were out on some remote rig somewhere?*LF Chat Crew
