They released the nexus 5x (which has a 5 inch screen) at the same time as the 6p. It's not quite the same, but its got all the important features IMO (Same camera, front facing speakers) and its cheaper.

You won't get an inbetween option since the 6p actually has a 5.7in screen.

Yeah was also looking at the Oneplus 2 if I got an invite for it since that looks pretty nice as well and is also cheaper.

Preordered the s7 edge for the wife. She will get it in a week, then the free gear vr and memory card.

Convinced her to switch from Apple and her iPhone 3, I think she has.

Not blown away by the new phones. I think I may check out the Note 6 when that comes out.

I think the S7 Edge is nice but I'm a little tired of my carriers trying to push me into a bullchit lease plan to upgrade. Keep in mind I'm on my buddies $40 unlimited plan with Sprint. Literally, everything unlimited so I'm not going to switch.

Lol at poverty Sprint. Sprint informed my wife that she is going to have her unlimited data raised from $50 to $60 per month to generate revenue for the company. Over a year ago, she leased an iPhone and part of the deal was that customers got a rate of $50 per month for picking an iPhone for TWO years. Trying to increase rates during a two year lease agreement is very sad on their part.

Perhaps some day she will get some sense and move over to T-Mobile with me (LG Nexus 5X).

Tmobile isn't an option for me. I had them and had to sit my phone by the window just to hope to get a bar.

Have you done a factory reset? I work in mobile IT support and we have hundreds of S4's in the field, all on 5.x and running fine.

Also, Samsung is running another promo where you get a free wireless charging pad if you register a debit/credit card with them. I don't have one unfortunately, but my wife did so I put hers on my device and my free wireless charging pad is on the way! She has an S5, so she could not put it on hers.

I am going to have to root it, so that I can stay away from. 5.x. My phone works, but it went from being smooth, and buttery, to constant app crashes, constant loss of wallpaper, apps being very sluggish in launching, etc. Things people probably would call in about, but tons and tons of forum threads filled with people running into the same issues on all kinds of devices with 5. :/

I could reset and just have the constant update notification up, but I'd rather just root and go 6.



Also, I don't know if my wife will get her s7 edge in time for the promo, and my s4 can't get Samsung pay as far as I know.

Make sure your apps and pics are backed up then turn the phone off, press and hold volume up and power, when the device vibrates let go of power, but hold volume up. Recovery menu will come up. Use volume buttons to select factory reset and use power to select. No, you can't reset to a previous os version. It will be whatever version you're on, but should fix your issues. At least give it a try before you root it (if you even can root that version of Android with the S5 you CANNOT).

I currently have the Note 5, I really like it but I always want the latest. I am tempted by the S7 Edge, watching videos on that screen is really nice and I like the waterproofing although I'd have to give up the S pen. I was planning on waiting for the Note 6.

I pay 100 for two lines with 1GB of LTE data that gets throttled afterwards.
PLUS about 35 per phone for the EIP.

Welp I recieved my Samsung Galaxy s7 edge today. I made a few threads looking for suggestions on what apps to use and whatnot.

1) I'm confused as fk coming from iOS since my first smartphone. I'm a grad student in CS so it's not like i'm not tech savvy. I just need a day to play around with it to figure everything out
2) I'm dissapointed with one thing that i specifically asked and didnt turn out as i was told. I set contacts+ as my default contacts app. I downloaded textra as my messenger app. When i got an unknown number text in textra, when i go to settings in textra to add it to contacts, it adds it to my samsung contacts app and not to contacts+. No idea how to fix this considering i set contacts+ as my default
3) So in touchwiz, there is the main home screen. Then you can swipe right. If you swipe left, you're taken to some news feed called "Briefing". Package disabler disabled this but The screen still exists and When i swipe right, it just says i disabled this section and I cannot get rid of the menu entirely. So there's this little white home button that shows on my main page showing that i can swipe to the right. Annoying. Not sure if i can remove it entirely.
4) where in the settings do i go to set default apps?

weather underground is what i went for but I don't like the annual subscription. Id rather pay upfront

What are you guys using for an email client? Kind of tired of Gmail, when I open it I want to be able to set it to showing me ALL email not just one part of the inbox. Outlook looks good and I like the features but it's slow to push emails through to me, thinking about trying Blue Mail next.

Inbox might be exactly what you're looking for.

I've been using it since its release and I think it's the best.
