One of the staff members saw me with the white coating around my hand and assumed it to be chalk. I show them my liquid grip bottle and they look at it like I was showing them a baby alien (completely confused and panicky). I ask them to check with their manager and see if the product is ok. I get an e-mail from the Fitness Program Coordinator, (uni gym) a wannabe all around athlete type person, and she says the following:
Hello,
I was told you had questions regarding the Liquid Grip product. As you know, we have a no chalk policy in our facility and I greatly appreciate your cooperation with this policy. As far as the liquid grip, we will not allow this product either. I am familiar with the product and I do know that it is a popular product used in weight lifting. Unfortunately, even though it is not messy like chalk it still contains fragrance and it does leave magnesium build up and if not cleaned frequently and properly can break down our equipment. There are also other members that may not appreciate using the bar and equipment after someone using that type of product.
Lastly, I do not want to encourage any type of Olympic or Power lifting in our facility. I hope that you can understand our policies and we appreciate your continued use of the RAW. Do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions. Have a great weekend!
Any ideas to poke a hole in this logic? I feel like the magnesium comment was absurd since we're talking about a tenth of an ounce of liquid around my hands. The aroma comment is dumb as well since their staff is always spraying a fragrance that has an aroma making me light headed. Also, just throwing this out there, this gym has a TRX setup with battle rope attachments. I appreciate any help here guys. Thx

Lmao. To be honest the gym has everything I need, and the membership fee is taken out of my tuition regardless. Take the no Olympic and powerlifting comment with a grain of salt. People deadlift there all the time. Once I started doing more than 365 they got on me for slamming the weights. I used mats, quieted up a bit, and it hasn't been an issue since. I'm tempted to backfire that comment towards her though and mention liquid grip could be used for a lot more than "Olympic and powerlifting" and that I don't appreciate being "stereotyped", but eh, don't think that would go far.

It doesn't make sense to poke holes since the decision to not allow liquid chalk was already made. You poke a hole and the coordinator will come back with another reason why the product is not permitted. Besides, the increase in equipment repair/maintenance and cleaning costs is enough of a reason, and I don't see you getting around that one.
You may have to take a hit on your pulls while you learn to lift without it.
Or you can spit on your hands as suggested by Gxp23. It's no worse than what other people do considering there are plenty of nasty bastards who don't think to wash their hands after desecrating the restroom.Hums the theme to Superman during planks and LYTPs. Now that you've read this, you will too.
All right boys, now watch how this is done. The key is to put it all in your groin and your back.
Take your legs totally out of the equation. Lift with your lower back in a jerking, twisting motion.

The logic hole i'm talking about is magnesium build breaking down equipment. My science knowledge is pretty whack, but isn't that a fairly common ingredient in other products?

Beside the point.
They are free to run the gym as they see fit. "Poking holes in their logic" will not change the situation. So you have 3 options:
Follow their rules & not use chalk or do olympic or power lifts.
Break the rules & risk having your membership cancelled.
Or find a new gym.Delirious Mutant.

Someone on the misc sent me a link to an adhesive stickum product. I'm assuming there's no form of a clear liquid grip?

My uni gym told me I couldn't DL unless I used all bumper plates, which meant I could only do like 405. After they told me, I accepted their rules and worked around it. Rack pulls or other stuff. Did I like it? No, but I understand it's the gyms rules and usually the staff are just the messengers so I felt no reason to be mad at them.

It was my old gym anyways. I recently moved and this gym lets me DL. Hit 600 beltless a few weeks ago so I was happy. Should really start adding in the belt again as it'll add some lbs, but right now I'm more focused on keeping my hips feeling good as I finish out my cut so I'm doing rep work. 545x3 for 5 sets last week nearly gassed me. Last set made me wanna die, but I then had to finish out my 70 other sets. DL day leaves me on my couch for an hour after I get back. No food, no shower, just lay there.

All due respect, you are fuking mad, lol, but saying that, its not like you dont have the fuel in the tank with the food you put away. Do you ever feel you are perhaps stressing your body too much? Burning your CNS out a tad? I mean, the couch for an hour fine, but just sitting there, in a comatose state? I applaud your insane physical "Therapy", but chit, srs lol.

I actually only eat 3k right now with refeeds as I see necessary. But yeah, it's a lot of stress and will I pay for it? Maybe. I don't do half-measures too well, but that's kind of a family thing. Males on my dad's side of the family all die early, because they literally run themselves down. He's warned me that I should be careful, but if not now, then when? I'm young enough to do this and I won't ever have this opportunity again. Might as well seize it.
Honestly, I don't even care if I pay the price for it. The part that eats me is if my family pays the price. I don't want to put my wife and kids through that, but it's hard to mediate those two. I certainly don't think I'll keep up this pace for too long, I guess I sort of hope by the time I stop, I haven't caused anything irreversible.
And then, what if my style of being is what makes me successful and allows my kids/wife to live a comfortable life - is that then worth it? Is 5 more years of me being around worth having to worry about money? Freaking life - so confusing at times.

That is true, and I am pretty jealous you have all of that in you, but maybe this will let you see things from a slightly "different" perspective.
"If you ever start taking things too seriously, just remember that we are talking monkeys on an organic space ship, flying through the universe"
Might not mean much to some, but when I start thinking about space/galaxies/universe, I will be gone from everything, in my own little universe, freaks me out, was considering going back to college to study it, but my job times wont allow it..

I took an astronomy class in undergrad. It was honestly mind blowing. I would have loved to take more, but being a double major left me with no electives(literally, I only took two electives and one was in the master's program to get a jump on my credits and the other one was related to psychology to look good on my applications). That's one thing I wish I'd done in my undergrad was be able to branch out a bit more and also have done more research and maybe been more involved on campus. Oh well, can't change **** now.

I look into it as much as I can, do my own research, truly is fascinating, I could get lost with it for hours and hours and it will feel like no time has passed at all (Slight pun intended). I specifically have a keen interest in black holes......terrifying, but very interesting...

I actually dont chalk, though my gym allows it; maybe just add grip work and rack pulls to increase grip?. If mixed grip isnt cutting it no chalk, id either start on dat dere hook grip or just quit caring and keep chalking up - what are they going to do? Kick you out? If they do, no great loss because you weren't lifting how you wanted and youll be forced to find a new gym. If they dont then great.
Clear eyes, full heart: can't lose.
