As for the OP it depends on the tax bracket difference. If I saw 55k of that extra 70 I would work 5 days and put massive amounts into retirement and retire very young. Or just buy a bunch of chit I dont need.

3 days a week is unusual, but 3/3 or 6/6 is pretty common. 3 on 3 off im thinking fire service or police or something.

lol me and like half the other early 20 somethings in the world, i know alot of jobs i dont want to do, but as far as "my dream job", fuked if i know. ive come to realize i'd be perfectly content working a job that doesnt make me wanna suicide and where i make enough to have some toys and fun and live comfortably. i did "my dream job" for awhile and even after a few months i was starting to get bored of it, so i realized no matter what i chose, if you do it everyday you'll lose some of the spark eventually.

If invested properly you could work three years, then have two off, and still wind up with the same amount of money as 5 years of consistent working. 780 days worked, $10k earned more for option one with two complete years off.

Same tax rates for 175,000 and 100,000 brah, assuming single. After tax is taken out you will be making an additional 54,000 if you choose the five day week. Essentially you could look at it as would you take $54,000, no taxes, to work an additional two days a week. Easy choice for me give me the five day week

Honestly man, I don't have a "dream job." All I'm looking for is a stable career that will pay my bills. Nowadays even that is hard to come by. Salaries are going down while the cost of living is going up. Making over 50k is fukkin difficult now.

So I guess I'm in a similar boat, but I finally have a career plan set up as of a month ago, so we'll see how it goes.

in the uk after tax, that's 64k and 100k respectively....or well in pounds that's £42k and £66k - so just over £20k difference.

uk is more expensive than america too - so pounds will buy you pretty much what dollars will in the us. and our house prices are much higher.

You pay tax rates on certain amounts. Your first $9k gets taxed 10%, the next $9k-$37K gets taxed 15%, and the next $37k-$88k gets taxed 25%, and so on.

If you make $170k - the whole amount doesn't get taxed 30%... just the monies in the bracket ($88k-$170k)

Depends on the role of course... About $30/hr, but they make the real money on overtime.

Trained operators, steam tickets, field engineers, tradesmen, etc can expect quite a bit more.

Starting pay in North Dakota is usually 70k a year, bumped up pretty quickly. Standard shifts are not 3 days on 3 off. They are usually 2 weeks on 2 weeks off or something similar. It is a great way to acquire capital, but you will pay for it physically.
