    Whilst I'm not entirely sure on whether it develop your abs, or anything like that. I know boxers and probably other fighting sports do these kind of drills to train a fighter to get used to the punches, which does make sense, after being punched and play fighting with my brother for 16 years now, I cN really take a punch and pain doesn't faze me as mix as it did a few years ago.
    I know some like to lightly hut their abs, after a strong workout so there's more of a BURN, never knew why TBH looked silly to me, but hey.

    The biggest benefit it will have for you Opie, is that you'll have a higher mental tolerance to difficult situations/pain. This alone makes it worth experimenting with... IMO.

    Being mentally tough helps in all aspects of life, especially when pain is involved (i.e. that last rep in the set)

    I was punched in the face probably 100 times a day for a year and all it did was mentally prepare me for future hits. The last punch before I left hurt just as bad as the first punch I ever received - I just knew how to deal with it. It's the same with abs. I learnt how to position my body to take a hit better, but it didn't do chit for abdominal strength.

    If you're thinking like iron body training that monks do, that doesn't actually harden their muscles. They continuously cause micro-fractures in their bones which repairs more dense than the original bone, making it stronger.

    INW no, it will not make your abs stronger. But even if it did, why the hell would you want to get punched in the stomach repeatedly when you could just do some crunches? Getting hit isn't a pleasant experience.

    Ex karate champ checking in, that's pretty much the answer, it doesn't make your abs stronger, but it teaches you when to tense your abbs, obviously you can't tense your abbs the whole time while fighting so eventually it becomes your reflex, you also don't over tense to the point where you might chit yourself but just enough not to get winded.

    Basically if you are a fighter then its useful otherwise no point. Hope this helps.
