What's the difference between mass gainers and whey protien and how much mass or weight can you gain compared to whey protien

The only difference (in most gainers) is that a mass gainer, unlike a whey protein powder, has loads of carbs in it. For example, Optimum Nutrition's "serious mass" has about 1,250 calories because it has your standard 50g of protein with 250g of carbs. A protein powder won't have those carbs, and to get 50g of protein from a whey protein shake would mean you're consuming about 1,000 less calories.
And there's no specific number I can give you as to "how much weight" you'll gain using a mass gainer over a whey protein powder. It's not like one or the other are magical powders that add specific numbers of pounds to you. It all depends on what you eat when using them.
