phucking this.
since I'm the only one of my friends that's actually been consistent with lifting I see results. So instantly I'm a phucking god to them because I put on size and I look like I lift
when in reality, I just lifted, and ate some food. No big deal. There's no point in obsessing and wrapping your whole life around one hour of your life

At first I was like "people told me I couldn't go to the gym"
NOW I'm like "work, eat a lot of food, go gym regularly, lift heavy while there, also no need for albuturax" or whatever it's called..
Just like every other aspect of my, though I obviously do have a passion for it, but no need to over hype.

if you choose lifting instead of partying you are more dedicated to lifting then the person who chose to party..just my opinion though can also say I have never seen it as being more superior it's just a preference if you want to go party eat, drink socialize & do whatever the phuck you want to then do it if you want to lift & focus on improving your body rather than party than do it simple as that

I lift at a university gym. 99% of people walk around with supplement t shirts, wrist wraps, inta workout drinks in gallon jugs, they all talk about protein every time they are in the cafeteria, yelling on every set they do.....
Yet out of the hundreds if not thousands of people I have seen at my gym, I have met maybe 10 who can squat, deadlift, and bench correctly with full range of motion.

I'm gonna get sh!t for this but so be it.
The reason some people take lifting so seriously and try to make it a bigger deal than it really is is because these individuals will never really do anything else significant in their lives. Some people are going to do extraordinary things like invent something or cure a disease, etc. But for the most part, most people will never do any of these things. Most people will not write a grammy winning song, or act in a big movie. So how can an everyday individual do something that is above the norm? Well, lifting is one way.
The reasoning for this is, not everybody lifts. So lifting gives some of these people an outlet to feel "special" and "unique" from everybody else. And this need to feel like they're accomplishing something most people cannot feeds into their psyche that they're doing something significant. But the fact is, they're not. Yeah, you have bigger arms than some people. Or you might have low body fat than others. But at the end of the day, most people don't care.
Like I said, lifting gives these people a reason not to feel average. Because for the most part, it's the only thing they can do to feel like they're doing something amazing. Is it pathetic to have this mindset? Yeah. But that's just the way it is.

It depends on certain ones.
I LOVE Universal Animal's line of marketing. It's motivating. You have daily sh*t in your life getting in your way. You go to the gym, leave the ego at the door, and lift. Weightlifting has offered me multiple positives in my life. It helped me fight depression, make great friendships, acquire a lot of knowledge about the human body, and given me a positive outlet.
Things I hate though:
"My warm-up is your workout"
"My girlfriend squats more than your girlfriend"
The whole #hashtag thing when people eat a meal or something.
It's great that people are getting into fitness and everything. I just hate part of the 'gym culture' that's mentioned tries to put down people. Some of it really turns me off to bodybuilding/fitness as a whole because most of these fitness enthusiasts are doing this just to look good in the mirror, which is fine, but that doesn't inherently make you better than someone because you do that.
Some of these people need a taste of humility in their lives.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /

This is why I've become attracted to Weightlifting and Strength Sports (powerlifting, strongman, olympic weightlifting) over Bodybuilding because of that. I love the idea of lifting something heavy, working on improving my strength and athleticism. I think bodybuilding is great, but I've encountered a few people, especially this year, that have turned me off to it and what you mentioned above is the top reason for me.
I won't ever stop lifting though.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /

Im finding it harder and harder to take lifting that seriously. I have other hobbies, im a musician who sings, plays guitar and bass, learning piano, along with schooling, work, start up business etc.. Having an aesthetic body is close to last on my to do list these days
I've enticed sin and sinned on this forum with lewd posts. I've turned from my sin and embraced Christ Jesus who died on the cross for my sin. I apologize to anyone that I've offended or harmed through my sinful posts, please pm me if I did so that I can give a personal apology. Jesus died for us sinners and by faith in Him and his work on the cross we are saved, by grace. Amazing grace.

you guys are truly fuking sad kunts. this place is a cesspool of negativity and hatred.
This is a bodybuilding site, we should be happy to talk to people about lifting ect ect. id much rather be amused smirking hearing some dip schit talking about his crappy workout routine then hear a single person bich about stuff like everyone ITT. liftings a much healthier lifestyle then partying and doing drugs every weekend, point is people could be making a "big deal" about much more negative things. this is just a sad place, if it werent for the lolz i would never come to such a neck bearded beta peasant site ever again, you guys sound like little feminine school girls the way you constantly talk schit about pointless stuff.

lol, why does everyone that you put this to come back with the same argument. It's not drinking / partying or JUST LIFTING. You can surely enjoy an active social life that doesn't revolve around drinking and lift can't you?
There's no way you can argue that bsd = a fulfilling life.In the 1000lb club :D 15/09/13

didnt read replys but
i really do owe my entire life to lifting and working out. i was a severly overweight kid with anxiety and depression. if i never picked up a weight or got my ass in the gym i would have never learned the value of hard work and dedication. its what gave me confidence to go out and say **** it im going to keep trying and do my best even if i fail. it also helped me choose the career path in the health field and working with disabled individuals. so i dont think lifting or fitness is overhyped, its good that people are getting motivaed to go out and stay active, the human body was meant to move and stay active, its been proven of all the physiological and psychological benefits of exercise.
