A continuation of the Cellucor Summer Bulk Log
For those of you who joined me for the ride along my first real bulk this summer (sponsored by Cellucor) you know the detail and quality that I like to include in my posts. For those of you who are new to my log, feel free to explore
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...01&pagenumber=
In this log, I am much more geared to toward my nutrition and such. Being in college, it is very difficult to balance proper nutrition with your schoolwork, social life and of course, training. I think I did a very good job with it my freshman year and so, after making the switch of majors to Pre-Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition, I figured there would be no better way to stay in touch with my future career then to log my progress.
In here I'll include as much food porn as I can along with macros, quick dorm-style recipes and how to make good choices/gains in your college cafeteria. Of course supplementation will be taking place (whey [when needed], multi, fish, pre-workout) but I am geared much more toward using food and only food to better my physique.
With that said, let today be the first day I fully log, and I welcome you! Enjoy the ride!

I'm curious how you, a nutrition major, go about estimating macros at college cafeterias given that they typically add lots of oils/butter/extra cals etc during cooking? Just guesstimate by portion sizes and nutrition facts provided?
Also, I know that you're a quality logger and I have a joint log opportunity for you if you want it. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.Last edited by MikeWines; 08-27-2013 at 04:38 PM.

I dont think eyeballing is going to hurt anyone. not like either of you are in contest prep or 2 weeks out from a bodybuiliding show. its called using some common sense and estimation. Im really sure J's gains are going down the drain because he is eyeballing macros and making some wise decisions and enjoying moderation. There is more to life than logging food on MFP or Fitday while in college. I think J has higher priorities then hitting X protein and X Carbs everyday, god forbid he may go over or estimate wrong while his studies and social life are a greater priority in college where its not supposed to be meant thinking about the amount of calories in a piece of chicken or a few pieces of french toast he may eat in his college cafeteria. I think his business test may mean a little more.

Usually just eat as I please with an estimate after the fact. If something is swimming in grease I dip it, but I know they prepare all the potatoes with oil/butter..still eat them. It's easy to track so I don't really stress too much.
Yeah, much more interested in my Orgo Lab than the amount of butter on my chicken breast lol. Plus, this is a bulk, right?Myprotein's Official Bodybuilding.com Representative ✔

Notes: New thing is to constantly be satisfied. With an all you can eat cafeteria a simple swipe away, there is no reason to ever go hungry. Plus, there are SO many places to eat on campus such as Chipotle, Panera, Noodles & Company...why not just eat whenever you feel the need? As long as gains are coming then I won't complain. Next post I'll be sure to snap a shot of our gym up here--it is so sick. See you all later today!Myprotein's Official Bodybuilding.com Representative ✔

thanks brother! plentyyyyy more coming. I actually did a maintenance week before getting rolling here and my weight stabilized at 180.9. Assuming the extra calories being cut out dropped the extra food matter, glycogen and water. Looking to be 185 rock solid by the Arnold, so I'll probably get up to ~190-195 and slowwwwwwly cut weight.

was going to get a house, then heard the payments...yeah right! my three friends and I put in for a 4 person suite--didn't get chosen. we all ended up in C actually, on the same floor, so it worked out in our favor I guess. Definitely bitter about being in a dorm hall again but having all my friends a door over is basically like having our own place...that we don't have to clean

Quaker Steak and Lube
BBQ and Mild Wings
Fried Pickles
Training Note:
Weights are constantly getting lighter. I now reach right for the 100s and can use the 120s for a couple of lifts. Feels pretty beast to me being as little as I used to be. School has had me kind of held up but later today should have a great post.Myprotein's Official Bodybuilding.com Representative ✔

Caught in a bind...
Yesterday, I was stuck. Our home opener (which most of you probably watched, sadly) was last night and it was also Labor Day, so our gyms were closed. That said, I found myself on a bus to the nearest gym and paying a daily fee. Was I happy? No. Did I get a great lift in, stay on track and make myself better than I was the day before? Damn right.
