We gave them bad Yelp reviews initially and they agreed to replace the parts if we took the reviews down. Then they gave me the wrong parts and refused to replace them with the right ones

The indie shop owner has been on the phone with them several times and he says hes never experienced a dealership behaving like this. Sent out the lawyers demand letter today so I'll let you know how it goes.

I've told him that now they get multiple bad Yelp reviews from every one of my family members, and the same treatment on their FB page along with multiple BBB negative reports as well as I'll be posting forever about it on every regional mustang forum and telling anyone who asks about my car to never go there. I told him I would make a second job of ensuring everyone in this area knows to avoid their dealership and will keep posting about it for years and years whenever anyone asks on a mustang forum where to buy a car.

Over the past several years I've had a number of big "fights" with companies who think they can just crap on people and move on.....State Farm, a local Chevy dealership and my previous job. It literally makes me sick to my stomach to think I have to walk away from a fight that I KNOW I'm right...but it's tiring fighting like that and off on for a couple of years. And as you know, in most cases larger companies have the ability to run you out of money. They have to realize that you're going to cost them more money than they'll save by not making things right (as you know).

GT has 27k on it, trying to diagnose a weird non-consistent ticking type noise that is coming from underneath the car.. definitely not from the engine bay. Only occurs during acceleration at low speeds. I thought maybe something was wrapped around the drive shaft that's hitting stuff randomly.

No other symptoms I can point out. The next time I go into the dealer I'm going to ask them to go on a drive with me.

is is an 18? Typewriter tick is a known issue and Ford has said they don't care about it. Google it to see all the various theories as to why it's happening

Its the Coyote tick... which has been around since 2011... I have read a couple of theories on what causes it but no actual data to prove it...As far as I know it doesn't affect performance or longevity...

The typewriter tick generally seems to sound like it is coming from under the car (or at least where it seems loudest). As the others said, it doesn't seem to be an issue. But, Ford could be pulling a Ford like they did with the Focus/Fiesta auto transmission where they knew there was an issue but completely denied it until it was impossible to do so. Unless you find metal shavings when you change the oil I wouldn't worry about it too much. Best option is just to boost the car, you won't be able to hear any tick over the supercharger.

Had a '14 GT with the notorious tick. Bought it with 14k miles and traded it with 80k miles, never had an issue and I beat the chit out of it every chance I got. I will say that the issue was really noticeable after changing the oil, after 500-1000 miles it seemed to go away.

I just got my oil changed and am dreading picking it up tomorrow

the tick isn't supposed to be serious, but who knows. I do know Ford would deny a warranty issue in a heartbeat over a whipple so I'm hoping mine stays tick free

During my heavy hunt for a 18GT (still on the fence until fall to get a new daily), i see that a lot of youtubers have switched to a thicker oil and that stopped the tick.

Fake news! It doesn't work... And not only that when you put long tubes on it just amplifies it... but the tick goes away at 7700 rpm so... whatever

Confirmed it's the BBQ Tick on my 17 GT PP + Intermittent Misfire CEL that comes and goes for #3, 27k on the odo, will let you know what the dealership says tomorrow.

As much as i love those GT's, i'm kinda glad i went with the scat pack. I'd be chitting bricks to get into a brand new GT, then having to possibly hear the bbq tick the next day lol

I mean I could ignore it but I don't like my car sounding like I have a rod knocking around while driving around at low rpm lol. It's gotten worse and more persistent.

Technically you have nothing to worry about because the car still has the warranty right? So even if there is an issue, if the engine goes, you're covered.

And the case would be the same for me if i decided to go with the GT and that issue occured. But i'm OCD and i can NOT live with a car that has a strange noise that's not normal.

The first mod i did to my LS2 GTO was long tubes. But with long tubes, you can hear the valvetrain, not sure if that happens on all cars but for LS's it does. So i was hearing the infamous sewing machine sound. I didn't like it. I thought something was going wrong. Everyone on the forum said it was normal, even with the stock manifolds but i didn't want to hear it. I ended up going with a cam, and getting new lifters, valve springs, valves etc. Not really for more power, it was to get rid of the sewing machine sound, the extra power was only a secondary necessity.

The car sounded A LOT better, thanks to the cam, but i still had the sewing machine sound lol. Then i was like, yeah i guess it is normal haha.

They replaced the intake manifold to address the misfire CEL, tick is still there. Going to take it back in a few weeks.

I didn't want to do it yet but I think I'm going to get the Rousch axle-back exhaust to drown out the pain. I can't stand that noise.

While I can certainly understand your frustration at this point...

My Gen1 had the BBQ tick for 75k miles before I slung a rod via Whipple...

The new Gen 3 short block has the same tick with some gnarly piston slap and has made 975 to the tire and is currently living its best life at 850

What oil does ford recommend??

There are some 5.0 guys on youtube, i think alexandro flores is one of them that switched to a different oil and weight than what ford recommended and the tick went away. I stopped following his videos after ordering my scat pack (was only watching his vids because i was in the market for a 5.0 lol) so i don't know if the tick came back for him.

The Ford oil changes are "free" because I got the basic package with brakes wipers etc along with the wheel and tire pack for a pretty good price.

Ceratec didn't help mine but makes me feel a little better about abusing it like a red headed step child … lol

I tried ceratec in my GTO when i first noticed the sewing machine sound. Changed oils, different weights. Nothing worked. Figured the valvetrain was on it's way out. Cammed it, new valve springs, rockers etc, same thing. If anything, it became louder. Then everyone at the meets said LS's are notorious for the sewing machine sound, especially the LS1 and LS2. I didn't notice it in my LS3 C6, that was also cammed, with LT's, etc. Man i miss that car. Sounded insane.

Now with my C7Z, it's silent. Not even a blower noise

Fukk me, was driving home on the freeway at night when a fukking FENCE POST and a bunch of trash went flying under my car at 80 mph

I think my magneride suspension is fukked, theres damage under the car and one of my wheels is damaged, need to take it into the dealer tomorrow which is massively traumatic in itself.

It's a great tick.

I bought a Roush Axle Back to drown out the sound and the tick only got progressively louder. Bumper to Bumper 36k is coming up soon, going to have them re-document it. Then again at 45k, and then again at 55k & 60k.

Not sure if it's just where I'm sitting in the car that it's really obvious or if it's that loud outside of it but... it sucks.

I had a 2013 Mustang GT that I paid off and sold. Great car. I had basic mods and E85.

I had a 2018 Mustang GT that I sold after a year, because I thought I wanted an Audi RS3. I had no issues with the '18. I loved the A10 and the car was quick for me literally just putting an E85 PBD tune on it. Now that I have the RS3, I miss my '18. If I would have kept it, it would most likely be TT by now. I also did have the tick, but at 20,000 miles, the car ran well and never skipped a beat, so I never worried about the tick.

It has Heads, Cam, Intake, exhaust, fuel, Paxton, gears, etc...





I just picked this up a couple weeks ago. Could not pass it up. It's 85% complete with my vision.

93 GT, with heads, cam, intake, exhaust, fuel, gears, etc...Garage kept, no rust, 46k original miles. All parts/labor documented in a binder.

All it really needs is some standard maintenance, updating, and a Vortech.









I have already added a new double-din stereo/speakers/sub, and replaced the console with a cup holder one, then added USBs. Also replaced the dash light bulbs with LEDs.

Long tube header install. That one primary that rubs the steering shaft. Once the headers are installed, what's the best\easiest way to dent the header without removing them again.

Any constructive feedback is appreciated.

I knew that dent needed to be there prior to install so it happened sitting on my work bench.. but I know exactly where this spot is and the only way I could think of making that happen is to remove the steering shaft...get you a piece of 1" steep pipe you can wedge down there and hit it as low as you can with a BFH while still getting some swing on it..
