It could always be a case of the classic "stolen pictured for fake Ad". I wonder if it's really him selling the bug eye?

Well, just sold my 04 Sti a few weeks ago and already miss it, couldn't really pass up the offer I had on it though.

which clarion unit u putting in? and how are you getting it to go in. tryin to figure out how to get an aux cord, theres a few options but im thinking of also just changing the whole unit but since its built in its not as easy.

also not sure if the australian models do but at least the 05-06 lgts have a catted uppipe which can possibly hurt your turbo long term so get an uncatted one

It's a Clarion NX302A. Switching out the stock stereo on these cars is a bish. I dropped $600 on the Clarion which is fine, but then I also had to buy the plastic fascia/housing thing that holds it in place for $400. Am getting it professionally installed today actually; just in time for a cruise tomorrow.

As for aux cords, depending on your stereo, you may just be able to get a genuine one from Subaru (which is expensive as phuck, of course). Or there are other options like the Anycar Link adaptor or whatever it's called. There are a few different ways, check out the legacy gt forums for more info.

As for the catted up pipe, I heard that, but I'm not 100% sure it applies to my model. In the US I believe you guys only got the 2.5t engine, whereas mine is a 2.0t, which may be different. But I will look into it when I have more money, for sure. Thanks for the tip.

I will take some photos of my Liberty today/tomorrow and upload them here soon after. Edit: if I can edit out my phucking plates

Update to my multimedia unit installation: I can't install it yet because my Lib has the premium Mcintosh unit and I need a special cord/plug thing made up to fit the amp. That, or I fork out for an aftermarket amp. I don't really know much about audio equipment and am way out of my depth, and am frustrated as phuck cause I have had this media unit sitting around for over a month waiting to be installed.

Anyone who knows much about car audio in here, is it worth just getting a new and better amp, rather than bothering with the special plug? Of course the new amp will be more expensive, but if I also get better audio quality then it may be worth it. Keep in mind I'm not an audiophile and and am not the type to blast my music very loud at all. And apparently I need a 4 channel amp at a minimum.

Having said that, the guy doing the installation is looking into making the special plug or some other kind of work around, and should call me about it early next week, so I might not need to worry.

yes evos obviously blow STi's out of the water lol

    STi
    305 hp
    290 lb-ft torque

    Evo
    291 hp
    300 lb-ft torque

the evo is def. a faster car but its not a huge difference. i've driven both and I went with the STi because it was more comfortable and rode a LOT better on dirt, too

It used to bother me years and years ago that the EVO guys would beat up on STi's (power wise) but not any more.. no chits are given whatsoever now. If i wanted to build a race car, I'd do it, and I wouldn't use an evo. What the STi beats the EVO in is with the interior quality, ride quality, driver feedback, off road capabilities.. most of that translates into a better daily driver. Thats what I have the car for, a quick/fun daily.

And for what it's worth, the GST racing Subaru Impreza is beating the chit out of everyone in it's class, and has been for years. Oldschool (96 impreza L) = about 2700 lbs. Put a racing motor in the car and then lighten it. Beating the chit out of evo's and anything else coming up against it.

But srs the 4G63 is an amazing motor. Can't lie about dat. The new evo X leaves a little to be desired compared to its older bro, but still not a bad car. I have a buddy who has an FP Black on his evo X with full bride interior..etc etc his mod list goes on. Nice car, just not my style. Its funny i'm a suby brah but I bet I know more about EVO's than most of the Mitsu nut huggers on this website.

Heres another GC8 video of one of my all time favorites.. for those unaware.. The Gobstopper by Roger Clark Motorsports.. hnnnnngggggg

Absolutely man I get why people do that, you're definitely not the only one. It's true.. especially with the 4G63, a beast of a motor. Closed deck iron block just can't be beaten by a semi open deck aluminum block.. plus it's just more efficiently designed. Nice # for the stock turbo although the STi's always have gotten a baby turbo stock so it's hard to compare stock for stock there. Which evo do you have? Please say 9 (my favorite year) lol

question to OP or anyone else on here. I love the 2.5rs....if i do an sti swap will it pass inspection in nys (obd2 plugin)? Assuming i'll use the sti's ecu and everything else, don't certain years encrypt the vin on the ecu so they won't match? just wondering. sick cars guys, subbed for MOAR!

    EDIT: for your time:

What the STi beats the EVO in is with the interior quality, ride quality, driver feedback, off road capabilities.. most of that translates into a better daily driver. Thats what I have the car for, a quick/fun daily.
We talking interiors on the evo/sti? Lets be real both suck. And nobody buying these cars cares about interiors, if they cared they would of bought a different car.

Ride quality? Again both are annoying. You wanted comfort you would of bought a different car.

Driver feedback? LOL lets be real evo >.

Not bashing the sti, it's a great daily driver.

I'm not bashing the EVO either. The interior quality between the two.. the subaru's is much better. It might be an opinion based statement but all the evo owners I've spoken to about it would agree. And to be honest, 11+ interior on the STi is not that bad at all in my opinion. I think when people are dropping 35-40k on a car they care just a bit about the quality of it, interior exterior mechanical whichever. If I wanted to drop that kind of loot because race car I wouldnt really be going for a subaru or mitsubishi.. you can get used c6 vettes for less than that.

Driver feedback? The EVO has several computer controlled components to its drivetrain. The STi is 100% mechanical. Yes, the driver feedback in my opinion is much better in the STi. You feel much more "connected" to the vehicle. I have a decent amount of seat time in both vehicles so i'm speaking from my personal experiences.. take that for what it's worth

They're both great cars, and both great daily drivers.

You need to just get a random STi vin # and use it when you go for inspection. I guess since i've worked as a mechanic for years and know several shops that do inspections it's never been an issue where they'd deny me. I just provide the vin, they do the rest, car passes every time.

Best part is that I pay for insurance on a 2000 impreza 2.5rs... the car is an 04 STi except for the shell. I have everything.. wiring from front to back, suspension, the fuel tank, the cluster is integrated into the dash.. everything. Custom drive by wire gas pedal adapter plate so I can use the GD chassis pedals. DCCD is completely functional.

(hint: find a totaled STi that had rear impact.. mine got hit by a semi truck so from the rear bumper/trunk up was smashed in.. i drove the totalled 04 around the parking lot before i payed for it lol)

The thing is no1 buys a evo/sti for the interior. For 30k+ both have chit interiors I will never understand that argument, both are performance oriented cars and the Evo is just better.
