Don't mean to spam this thread with all my small projects lol. But heads up to people with the adaptive LED lights, you can code in anti-dazzle high beams and they are awesome. Anti-dazzle high beams are the EU equivalent of the "High Beam Assistant" we get in the US, which simply turns on and off the high beams in response to lighting conditions on the road. In the EU, the same function actually keeps the high beams on whenever possible, and cuts out slices of the high beam projection (using sensors, actuators, fast enough microprocessor to constantly calculate the ideal lighting position,etc.) so as to avoid blinding other drivers. This feature is automatically disabled on any car sold in the US due to regulations here. You basically just code the lighting modules in the ECU to think they are Euro spec and you can enable it pretty easily, I just put it on my car and it works perfectly.

And I used E-Sys with an OBD-Ethernet ("ENET") cable hooked up to my laptop. I looked into bimmercode but it doesn't support VO coding (required for coding in anti-dazzle high beams, sport auto transmission on cars that don't have it from the factory, etc.)

2006-2008 had the N52 engine. The engine can develop lifter noise and it can be a little annoying. Other than that, the N52 is pretty solid. The M54 before that is also very solid - I think the only issues are cooling system related. Maybe others can pipe in

its the german norm to use racechip now.. it used to be burgertuning

it gets +60hp +80 torque confirmed by dyno (older versions not the new one i have)

my x5 is amazingly fast, i went 60 to 120 in maybe 2 seconds on the highway in comfort mode without even trying to go that fast when some retard was trying to rac eme

instead of going on the mass airflow sensor, it hooks up to the TMAP (turbo)

Anyone with an N55 or S55 motor.. You gotta get Bootmod3. Car feels so much better than with Jb4. Went to the drag strip and ran a 12.6 with jb4 so Im excited to go back and see what I can get with BM3.

So you are speaking in terms of km/h, NOT mph...is that correct?

Those are 60-120 MPH times, not 0-60. The 996, 997 and 991 GT3 have never taken nearly 5 seconds to go from 0-60. The base 996 alone did it in 4.5 seconds. The GT3 996 did it in a hair under 4 seconds. The 996 era was the first one to offer a GT3 to customers.

Further establishing my point, the 1979 911 Turbo used a revised power plant from the 1976 model that offered just about 260 HP and had a 0-60 MPH time of under 5.5 seconds, and not the 7 seconds advertised there. The current 911 Turbo (991.2) can hit 0-60 in 2.4-2.5 seconds and scream (or blowdry if you're picky) from 60 to 120 in just a few seconds.

The suggestion that the first Audi TT has a 0-60 over 9 seconds is laughable; a Camry of that era would be faster. Even the really old C43 AMG and the S2000 hit 0-60 MPH faster than those numbers.

I'm curious to see this X5 in action. If it's what you say it is, then BTM is going to be pissed.

Did you even read it? It's 60-100 mph record and you claim your car to run 2 secs from 60-120 which is faster than those in the list.

Yeah, you guys are right, some of those timings seems off.

But still, its really interesting to see an X5 running 60-120 at that time. Since even a 2018 hellcat only get 3.8s 0-60 and 8.1s 0-100. So 60-100 is basically 4.3s for a 700hp car.

Once you've seen it go from 0:02 to 0:06 where he/she hits 60 MPH/100 KM/H, you can pause and then click around until they hit 120 MPH or 192 KM/H. That's at 0:14 seconds of the video. You can go either by the instrument dial or the digital speedometer. The F80 M3 does a 0-60 MPH run in 4.2 seconds. From 60 MPH to 120 MPH, the F80 M3 does it in 8 seconds.

Now before you argue this, consider this was a launch from 0. A dead stop. 0-60 is 4.2 on here. From 60 to 120, or otherwise cruising on the highway and then gunning the car takes 8 seconds. Now you're thinking "Why is one of the M3s so fast from 60-100?" and that's because the E46 M3 CSL weighed just a little over 3,000 lb versus the F80's 3,600 lb. It also had better gearing. If you look carefully, there's also two M5s listed and who knows what models they're referring to. One takes six seconds, the other takes a little more. The BMW M Coupe used an E46 M3 engine. The BMW 330i sounds about right. Whether it's the E46 or the E9x generation.

The issue is not about the nitpicking. What's really sad is you seemed to believe your claim by trying to justify that its normal for a 500HP, 5,000 lbs SUV to hit 2-4 secs from 60-120 mph.

Getting a lot of knocks detected from my bootmod3 flash tune brahs. Quite a few other people running BM3 have been reporting knock as well... to the other BM3 brah in here

What could cause knock? I'm going to try changing the spark plugs, adding E85 to test if its my 93 octane fuel being bad, flashing stock to see if I get knock. Could it be anything else?

I've read really great things about the N20 4 cylinder turbo, especially that it is lighter and handles quite well, but wanted some opinions. I can add a downpipe and ECU flash and tune it to around the same stock HP as a 335i. I'm not planning on doing any racing. Only city driving and highway driving.

335i > 328i IMO

It will be harder to get into a 335i at that price point, though, and I wouldn't want to end up in a poorly optioned car, so keep that in mind... my top priorities would be M Sport package and Premium package at least. I'm pretty sure Xenon lights are atleast standard on the 335i. Coworker recently purchased a 2013 335i M Sport optioned well for like ~$20k.

Read into timing chain problems on the N20. That is a cost you'll have to factor in when comparing N20 vs N55... about $2k is what I think I've heard.

You'll be dumping $3-4k in parts on your N20 (downpipe, tune, timing chain replacement... charge pipe and intercooler are realistic to expect once you start tuning as well) and you'll still be spending BMW maintenance $$$, but at the end of the day you'll have a modded 328i which won't perform or sound as well as a 335i. The N20 will never sound great, but the N55 actually sounds really damn good with exhaust/tune. Atleast for me, sound is a big part of the overall sport experience, and I usually commute in comfort mode with all my windows up, but the times I do roll my windows down and push it in Sport and hear that exhaust and feel the 500 pounds of torque... makes it worth it.

I had the same debate in this thread when I was shopping and deciding between a 428i and 435i. I drove a 428i M Sport and the N20 is a nice enough motor... perfectly fine especially for a daily driver... but if you're spending the $$$ on a BMW (and all other ownership costs with it) you realistically probably want the N55. There is little incremental cost in going 335i over 328i IMO.

Pretty sure it affected early production of 2015 (don’t quote me on that). It’s also not nearly as common as it is made out to be on the internet. But yes, it is in the ballpark of a $2,000 expense if it does happen.
