Okay, so say older model 325i / 330i's? I'm finding plenty of 325i's in my area for around the 4-8k range, of course they have 100-130k mileage on all of them, but from what I've been reading as long as they previous owner has replaced most of these (brakes, cooling system, clutch, manifold gaskets, PCV and suspension bushings), you're looking at getting solid mileage with *hopefully* no major setbacks.

As long as the previous owner has done the preventative maintenance, the cooling system has been overhauled, and the rear subframe isnt cracked on e46's, then you're good.
There are a crazy amount of DIY threads on e46fanatics and other bimmerforums you can use. Parts for the car arent much more expensive than say honda parts, its the labor that the dealership charges that kills you. If you cant do something yourself, find a good indy shop that specializes in BMW.

brahs, I found a 01 330CI, white convertible, 5 speed manual, 96k miles, clean title. Of course I wanna buy it, but I think there is something wrong with it. In my area, 330s usually go for $10k+ unless they have over 120k miles, this one has been posted up for over a month at $7500 and was recently lowered to $6999. I haven't actually seen the car in person so can't really say anything about the exterior, and I don't understand much from looking at engines, but is there anything you guys think would be wrong?

BRB wait for a car that he didn't know anything about til last week.
BRB buy a first iteration that will have kinks
BRB own only V8 M3 ever made and last NA model, might actually hold some value
He was actually the level headed one in my M4 thread, I wanted to sell my E92 M3 and get on the preorder when it opens up."Calling it transportation is like calling sex reproduction." - Porsche 911 (Turbo)
No motorcycle anymore crew.

I know what youre saying but think about how much the value of E92's will drop once the M4 comes out. He probably spent at least $60K for that '13. You can already get pre-lci m3's for close to $30K
edit: Im not criticizing his decision to buy the '13 in the slightest. I only wanted to know if he considered waiting for the new model.Last edited by tooKOOLforSKOOL; 08-23-2013 at 02:24 PM.

Haha, as TurboLagBrah mentions, we discussed this very topic in his M4 thread. My plan all along was to get the last version of the E92 M3 Coupe since I knew it would be the last NA V8 M3 version that would likely ever be produced and potentially would hold its value based on that fact. I also ordered it with the 6MT configuration because I figured that would further appeal to enthusiasts if I decided to ever sell the vehicle.
When the rumors of the M4 started to circulate, I became very interested but I'm never one to jump on the first year of a new model anyway so that really never swayed my decision. I literally have one of the very last E92 M3s ever produced (believe my manufacture date is in May/June 2013 but I don't have my documents with me so I'm just going by memory). Since I have 4 years and 48k miles remaining on my factory warranty, I don't mind waiting for 3 years or so to see what improvements and real-world reviews the M4 has before deciding to jump on it. It is definitely intriguing and I do miss my boost, for sure!http://stackingplates.com

Square setup crew.
Apex ARC-8 18x10 with Nitto NT-01 275/35/18 all around is what I run on my E92 M3. It was suppose to be just my track setup but I run them on the street. My god at the improved front end bite.
The only issue I have is the front sticks out more than the rear, hence I ordered some 10mm spacers for the rear.
I was use to a square setup though, ran a similar setup on my previous E46 M3.Last edited by TurboLagBrah; 08-24-2013 at 10:49 AM.
